L'écluse de Neuilly sur Marne permet aux bateaux de plaisance essentiellement de quitter la Marne pour accéder au canal (et le contraire).
Elle a été mise en service au début du XXeme siècle.
La construction de ce canal et, en conséquence de cette écluse,est due à l'instalation des usines Menier, à Noisiel.
Menier avait détourné une partie du cours de la Marne, le rendant non navigable, pour faire passer l'eau sous son usine et fabriquer son électricité avec des turbines.
tout ceci est encore visitable le 1er dimanche de septembre lors des journées du patrimoine.
Cette écluse met fin à la dérivation du canal commencée 8,8km plus en amont à l'écluse de Vaires sur Marne

Survival Tips for Driving in France – Part Two
Number 1. If you import your right-hand drive car, it can be complicated as your vehicle will need to conform to French manufacture and use regulations. If it is a model or make not on sale in France, things could become a real hassle. And if you stay in France for more than a month, you will have to change to a French registration (in theory at least).
Number 2. If your car is getting on in years, you will have to think about taking it along for an M.O.T (le contrôle technique), at an officially-approved centre. After this, it is every two years.
Number 3. Most French motorways are toll paying. On short stretches the amount can be a flat rate (or even free) but it usually depends on the distance you drive. Don't lose your ticket or you will be required to pay the maximum toll.
Number 4. French motorway signs are blue, and usually indicate the destination more frequently than the motorway number. So, if you are driving from Lyon to Chambéry, you are likely to see more 'Chambéry' signs than 'A43'.
Number 5. Many French motorways are two-lane only, or have long two-way stretches. Be careful, as there can be sudden traffic slow-downs due to trucks taking ages to inch past each other.
Number 6. Be careful on French motorways as many drivers lack road discipline. It is the usual tricks: in spite of the 130 kilometers per hour limit, apparently 39% of them drive at speeds between 130 and 150 kilometers per hour.
Number 7. I know it sounds obvious, but the French do drive on the right. You will soon get used to it, but you will have to concentrate in the beginning.
Number 8. Electronic speed camera detectors are illegal in France. Simply having one in your car could render you liable to a fine.
Number 9. Driving your right-hand car in France can be a bit tricky when it comes to overtaking as you have to pull out more to see any oncoming traffic.
Number 10. Maximum speed limits are clearly displayed on all roads in France. At present there are rumours about lowering them all by 10 kilometers per hour.
Number 11. Be careful of roadside and police in-vehicle speed cameras - especially in villages where the limit is 50 kilometers per hour. You can easily get caught out.
Number 12. When approaching an unmarked road junction, the rule is to give way to all traffic approaching you from the right - even if the road is minor.

If you want to enjoy the calm of an historical garden, to show your kids the farm animals and ride some tranquil rollercoasters, the Jardin d'Acclimatation is what you're looking for! Located just outside Paris (in Neuilly-sur-Seine, metro line 1 stop Les Sablons), the Jardin opened in 1860. The entry fee is low-priced, but you'll have to pay per ride (from 4 to 8 euros each). The amusement park is now themed in steampunk.

The Bagatelle Park is a park located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris ( France ), bordering the lawn (also known as playground) of Bagatelle, in the Bois de Boulogne . Near the southern limit of the commune of Neuilly-sur-Seine , it is one of the four poles of the botanical garden of the city of Paris with the garden of the greenhouses of Auteuil located in the South-East of the wood, as well as the floral park of Paris and the arboretum of the school of Breuil which are them in the wood of Vincennes .
The park and the castle of Bagatelle, also called the Folie d ' Artois , were built in just sixty-four days, following a bet between Marie-Antoinette and the Comte d'Artois , acquirer of the estate in 1775. The site plans were drawn in a single night by architect Bélanger; more than nine hundred workers worked on this achievement.
François-Joseph Bélanger designed the park, and Thomas Blaikie built it in an Anglo-Chinese style , very fashionable at the time. This fashion is linked to the arrival in Europe of images of pagodas from China but also reflects a reaction to the rigor of French gardens .
After having almost disappeared under the French Revolution , the park was endowed with the orangery , the gate of honor and the stables in 1835 , then pavilions of the guards, the Trianon and the two terraces in 1870. The heir to the widow of Sir Richard Wallace (1818-1890), born Julie Castelnau, died in London in 1897, sold the estate to the city of Paris in 1904 .
On March 15, 1907, Charles Voisin performed the first mechanical flight on an airplane equipped with an engine (a V8 Antoinette ).
Since 1907 , the rose garden of the park , which includes some ten thousand roses representing one thousand two hundred different cultivars , hosts an international competition .
