Nepalgunj City virtual exploring. Nepalgunj Sub-Metropoliran City Banke, Nepal.
Nepalgunj also spelled Nepalganj, is a Sub-Metropolitan City in Banke District, Nepal. It lies on the Terai plains near the southern border with Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh, India. Nepalgunj is 153 kilometers south-west of Ghorahi and 16 km south of Kohalpur. Former Village Development Committee: Udayapur, Bhawaniyapur, Piprahawa, Jaispur, Paraspur, Indrapur, Khaskarkado, Bashudevpur, Manikapur and Puraina were added to territory in order to make it Sub metropolitan city on 2071 Paush 28 and later Puraini was also added in list on 2072 Paush 21. Further, while restructuring of local levels nationwide, ward no. 23 (former Indrapur VDC) was taken out to Janaki Rural Municipality and ward no. 7 of Hirminiya VDC was added to Nepalgunj.
Nepalgunj Airport is located 6 km north of the city centre. The airport was officially named Mahendra Airport after the late King Mahendra, but it is commonly referred to as Ranjha Airport. It operated flights to Kathmandu and to airports in less-developed western districts such as Humla, Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu and Rukum. Nepalgunj airport is the gateway for pilgrims headed to Mt Kailash in Tibet via the Simikot-Hilsa route in Humla district,[5] which, following the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, has become the dominant route for Kailash pilgrimage through Nepal.
Nepalgunj airport is undergoing major redevelopment, and by 2025 its capacity will be increased and will have world-class facilities inside the airport for the customers. Nepalgunj to Kohalpur highway has been widened to four lanes and it is considered to be one of the best in the country. This has made journey to Kolhapur and easy access for commuters and visitors.
Nepalgunj has bus and mini-bus services. The country's longest highway, Mahendra Highway, runs through the town of Kohalpur, 10 kilometers from Nepalgunj city center.
An Indian Railways line reaches Rupaidiha across the border. It involves train changes at Gonda, Bahraich and Nanpara. For travellers coming in from India it is also possible to take an express train to Lucknow and from there a direct bus to Rupaidiha. Indian and Nepalese nationals may cross the border without restrictions; however, there is a customs checkpoint for goods and third country nationals.
Banke District बाँके जिल्ला a part of Lumbini Province, is one of the 77 districts of Nepal. The district, located in midwestern Nepal with Nepalganj as its district headquarters, covers an area of 2,337 km2 (902 sq mi). There are three main cities in the Banke District: Nepalganj, Kohalpur and Khajura Bajaar.

Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city in Banke district is one of the major cities and the economic hub of the Lumbini Province. The city is also known for its rich cultures and traditions. This city shares its border with Bahraich district in the Uttar Pradesh state of India. Bardia National Park is an hour drive west from Nepalgunj city. This city is the transit point to tourist destinations including Dolpo, Jumla, Mugu, Rukum, and others.

Exploring NEPALGUNJ, Ghumante FOODLOG and Giveaway Winners Announcement
As the temperature dips below 0 in Kathmandu, we bring you the very first episode of our new series, Ghumante Foodlog from our trip to Nepalgunj this summer. Nepalgunj is one of the hottest cities of Nepal and we were there during the mid-summer, probably one of the hottest times of the year. Despite the scorching heat, the trip became worthwhile because of the diverese cuisine and culture.
We were in Nepalgunj after returning from a documentary shoot in Dailekh with Radha Paudel Didi. We are very impressed by her fight for Dignified Menstruation and understood a lot more about the ongoing issues women face all over the world during menstruation. To express our support to her mission, we dedicate this episode to Radha Didi, Anupa Didi, Radha Paudel Foundation and everyone who are involved in this fight against discrimination. Kupinde Lake is the one of the greatest lake among Rapti zone .Around 24 km west of Khalanga, lies Kupinde village. Here, the sprawling Kupinde Lake makes for an awesome sight. Surrounded by hills on all sides. Locals say that the lake changes its color three times every year. A temple dedicated to Barahdev is located at the bank of lake where devotees come to pay respect . Kupinde lake is like a tiny phewa lake of Pokhara. Here anyone can hire boat for boating. It costs Nrs 500 to 1500 . It takes Nearly 45 to 60 minute for boating whole lake.
