Dedicated to all those who through duty and sacrifice served their nation as members of the Fleet Air Arm, the Museum seeks to tell their story through sharing our unique collection of aircraft, artifacts, and memorabilia.
In the early 1970s, a small energetic team of Navy volunteers started collecting relics from around HMAS Albatross, including five obsolete RAN aircraft, which became the foundations of the Fleet Air Arm Museum, established in 1974.
Today, the RAN Fleet Air Arm Museum is one of the largest regional aviation museums in NSW, containing over 30 aircraft and numerous aviation artefacts tell the story of Australian Naval Aviation and the development of the Royal Australian Navy's Fleet Air Arm.
MEROOGAL HOUSE
Meroogal House, was built from 1885 to 1886. This delightful timber house, with its 'gothic' trimmings, is a charming testament to early days and early ways.
Meroogal is a house that was greatly cherished by its owners. It was passed through the hands of four generations of women from the same family. The women led busy and fulfilled lives and their daily routines encompassed domestic chores and the pursuit of their own genteel interests and talents. Furniture, household objects, diaries, letters, scrapbooks, photographs and clothes allow a very personal insight into a more private world of the family.
It is unusual for a house to be occupied by the same family for such a length of time, even in rural areas. Meroogal has survived to make its contribution to the study of our social history.
BENS WALK
Bens Walk is a great place to step out and stretch your legs during a visit to Nowra. The walk loops around the Shoalhaven River, through its gorges, forests, and grassy shores.
The walk begins at the Nowra Showground, where you can enjoy a barbecue, and superb elevated views of the river and mountains from Hanging Rock.
The complete track provides a leisurely return walk of about 5.5 kilometres taking around two hours. A short return walk from the footbridge to the Showground and Hanging Rock takes around 10 minutes.
A suspension bridge provides a fun crossing of the river and gives access to Depot Farm Reserve and its picnic area.

Hi guys, here is a very cheap campsite and I found it when I was driving up the Newell Highway about 38 km north of Dubbo and 1km off the Newell Highway, which makes this site so quite at night. The place was called Eumungerie Recreation Reserve and the address is 102 Wheaton St, Eumungerie NSW 2831. When I got there it looked like an old Showground, a very large campsite that had large flat areas which can house everything from tents to buses with trailers. There are about 30 + powered sites which are on hard level ground and the same on the unpowered sites which can park over 90 vans. Shaded areas are pretty scarce around here, there is only a few trees that are around the campsite. So if you go around summer time, remember to get a powered site guys, at only $10 a night and a unpowered site is only $5 a night.. Sometimes getting a powered site is worth it. “You have to love Air Con.” There is not much to do around this area, basically it is just a quite area to relax and do sweet nothing, unless you want to go for a drive to see the Dubbo Western Plains Zoo / Old Dubbo Jail, and there is much much more to see from here. It’s only about 45mins drive from here. The site has town water which is Artesian Basin UV filtered water and maybe advisable to boil it before drinking. The toilet block was a bit old school but was clean and well stock with toilet paper, hand wash and even paper towel, but just a bit of heads up guys the showers at this site are cold. Generators are permitted here with time limits guys. The phone reception is about 1 to 2 bars 4G and thats with Telstra, plus the down load speed is about 1 mbs, if you are lucky. But it has excellent TV service here. Only during winter they allow camp fires, and they even provide wood at this site, for a Coin Donation.
The village of Eumungerie is only very small, with a pub (which serves great meals nightly) thats only when its open, and a post office (which sells basic groceries like bread, milk etc) which is less than 5 mins walk. Pets are allowed at this site, but must be supervised at all times. While I was there guys I did see a long train go by, which it was only 50m away from the campsite. But it was only one. With the dump point , you are right in the middle of the dump points. There is one in Dubbo Showgrounds or there is one in Gilgandra, and the Gilgandra is the better one out of the two, both of the dump points are public. But over all $10 for a powered and for water site is cheap..
