Hey guys! I hope you enjoy this Zambia travel vlog! If you didn't know, I'm half Zambian and hadn't been back in 10 years! In this video, I share my top recommendations for things to do in Zambia and my favourite aesthetic hotels (e.g. Victoria Falls, The Zambezi River & Avani Resort in Livingstone) and also the best restaurants/cafes we visited (e.g. Ceïla & The Urban in Lusaka). Bus from Lusaka, Zambia ???????? to Tanzania ????????

My stories from an exhausting trip on horrible roads in Northern Zambia. A 19 hour journey... ????

But I survived and it made me stronger! Traveling Africa overland is not for the fainth hearted... but the experience is unrivaled!

I have spent many hours in 24h+ bus rides in South America and Asia, but there is nothing like traveling by bus in Africa.

The road from Lusaka, the capital of Zambia to Nakonde on the Tanzania border is incredibly rough. Prepare yourself for a though African bus ride.

From Nakonde you can easily cross the border into the town of Tunduma, Tanzania on foot.

Have a safe trip!

Tanzania to Zambia | Dar es Salam to Nakonde Border Crossing - Muchinga

#TanzaniaToZambia #DarToNakonde #Tunduma

Christmas getaway December 2020 to Nakonde (Zambia). Travelling by bus, car and truck to and from Zambia. I didn't want to be home for the 2020 Christmas holidays. This trip was not organised in advanced it was pretty much spur of the moment. I was thinking of going to Malawi but ended up in Zambia.

Zambian people are pleasant. I was made to feel welcome everywhere I went, whether at the customs border crossing, the hotel or the random people I met that gave me directions and assisted me. Thank you to you all and thank you Zambia for having me.

If I had one criticism it would not be the people but the main road at Nakonde. It needs serious attention, it's tooooo bumby for a first impression of Zambia. I thought Zambia had a lot of Chinese what are they doing about this road?

TIPS FOR TRAVELLING TO AND FROM ZAMBIA BY ROAD, BUT THIS COULD ALSO APPLY ELSEWHERE:

THE NUMBER OF THINGS YOU NEED TO PACK WILL DEPEND ON HOW LONG YOU'RE STAYING.

ENOUGH CASH TO PAY FOR TRANSPORT, HOTEL AND BACKSHEESH!

BUSES DO NOT RUN ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT IN CERTAIN PARTS OF TANZANIA. BETTER TO PAY FOR A DECENT COACH THAN A REGULAR BUS. MOST REGULAR BUSES ARE FINE BUT SOME MAY TAKE THE BUMPY BACKROADS IN AN ATTEMPT AT AVOIDING TRAFFIC POLICE. THIS NOT ONLY MAKES THE JOURNEY UNCOMFORTABLE, ON BUMBY ROADS, BUT ALSO LONGER AND RISKIER AS THE BUS COULD BREAK DOWN & GET STUCK IN A DITCH ETC. YES IT HAPPENED TO OUR BUS.

PHONE SIGNAL MAY NOT ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE AND YOU COULD BE DRIVING FOR HOURS AT NIGHT ON THE BACK ROADS WITH NO RECEPTION, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BUSH, WITH STRANGERS.

BE CAREFUL IF HITCHING A RIDE AT NIGHT. I TRAVELLED ALONE BUT IT MAY NOT BE FOR EVERYBODY, ESPECIALLY FEMALES.

SOUTH OF TANZANIA CAN BE CHILLY, PACK A FLEECE AND A T-SHIRT AT LEAST. SEE IF THE HOTEL CAN GIVE YOU AN EXTRA BLANKET FOR THE NIGHT.

IF YOU CAN BE ONE OF THE FIRST IN THE QUE AND FIRST ON THE BUS THEN YOU CAN GET A WINDOW SEAT AND FILM SCENERY OTHERWISE COME LATE AND YOU WILL GET A CRAMPED ISLE SEAT AND BE SAT THERE FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR JOURNEY.

WHEN CHANGING SEATS ON THE BUS/COACH CHECK THAT YOU HAVE YOUR PHONE, I CHANGED SEAT ON MY BUS AND LEFT MY PHONE IN THE SEAT. LUCKILY A TANZANIAN WOMAN MANAGED TO LOCATE IT AND HAND IT BACK TO ME. ALMOST LOST MY NEW IPHONE 11.

I DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY ISSUES WITH PICKPOCKETS BUT I WAS TOLD TO BE CAREFUL. ALSO WATCH YOUR BAGS AND KEEP THEM CLOSE. ONE OF THE DRIVERS ATTEMPTED TO PUT MY BACKPACK IN THE BACK OF THE COACH AND I HAD TO MAKE A POINT OF MY VALUABLES BEING INSIDE.

A FL!P!N COVID CERTIFICATE WITH RECEIPT! COST £50-$150 DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU GET IT. AT THE BORDER IT IS CHEAPER BUT LAST MINUTE IS RISKY. PLUS YOU NEED AN OFFICIAL STAMP, ON THE COV CERTIFICATE, AT THE TANZANIAN BORDER.

YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION CARD! SOMETIMES.

HOTEL/AIR BNB CONFIRMATION PRINTOUT! FOR IMMIGRATION.

ITINERARY BREAKDOWN OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHERE YOU WILL BE GOING.

$50 CRISP DOLLARS FOR YOUR VISA! BOTH WAYS. DON’T HANDOVER OLD BILLS, IT CAN DELAY YOU, AS THEY DON’T TRUST THEM.

CHANGE OF CURRENCY FOR TAXI AND FOOD. YOU CAN CHANG MONEY AT THE BORDER, COME EARLY AND CHANGE IT AT THE BANK COME LATE AND THERE ARE PEOPLE ON THE STREET THAT CAN CHANGE IT FOR YOU. CHECK/COUNT YOUR MONEY.

SIM CARD AND TOP-UP VOUCHERS FOR ZAMBIA - ZAMTEL - MTN - AIRTEL ETC (TOP UP AT LEAST 40KWA).

ITEMS FOR HOTEL - SLIPPERS, TOWEL, SHAMPOO ETC AND PERHAPS A CAN OF BUG SPRAY FOR ANY COCKROACHES ETC.

10 KWACHA IS APPROXIMATELY 1000 TZS (TANZANIAN SHILLINGS).
AT DEC 2020.

HOTEL I STAYED IN IZUKANJI LODGE BUT THERE ARE OTHERS JUST ACROSS THE BORDER WHICH DO NOT SHOW UP ON THE AIR BNB APP.

ALL SITES AND IMAGES, THAT APPEAR IN THIS FILM, ARE FOR TRAVEL INFORMATION & ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. MAKE YOUR OWN CHECKS AND DON’T RELY SOLEY ON THE INFORMATION IN THIS VIDEO.

This was a much longer video but it was edited down for brevity and ease of upload. Apologies for the dark images or unsteady hand, it’s no fun filming when you’re tying to enjoy at the same time.

map of Zambia [ ramani ya zambia ] [ Africa ]

Zambia (/ˈzæmbiə, ˈzɑːm-/), officially the Republic of Zambia (Bemba: Icalo ca Zambia; Tonga: Cisi ca Zambia; Tumbuka: Chalo cha Zambia; Lozi: Naha ya Zambia; Chichewa: Dziko la Zambia), is a landlocked country at the crossroads of Central, Southern and East Africa. Its neighbours are the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Tanzania to the north-east, Malawi to the east, Mozambique to the southeast, Zimbabwe and Botswana to the south, Namibia to the southwest, and Angola to the west. The capital city of Zambia is Lusaka, located in the south-central part of Zambia. The population is concentrated mainly around Lusaka in the south and the Copperbelt Province to the north, the core economic hubs of the country.

Originally inhabited by Khoisan peoples, the region was affected by the Bantu expansion of the thirteenth century. Following European explorers in the eighteenth century, the British colonised the region into the British protectorates of Barotseland-North-Western Rhodesia and North-Eastern Rhodesia towards the end of the nineteenth century. These were merged in 1911 to form Northern Rhodesia. For most of the colonial period, Zambia was governed by an administration appointed from London with the advice of the British South Africa Company.

On 24 October 1964, Zambia became independent of the United Kingdom and prime minister Kenneth Kaunda became the inaugural president. Kaunda's socialist United National Independence Party (UNIP) maintained power from 1964 until 1991. Kaunda played a key role in regional diplomacy, cooperating closely with the United States in search of solutions to conflicts in Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Angola, and Namibia] From 1972 to 1991 Zambia was a one-party state with UNIP as the sole legal political party under the motto One Zambia, One Nation coined by Kaunda. Kaunda was succeeded by Frederick Chiluba of the social-democratic Movement for Multi-Party Democracy in 1991, beginning a period of socio-economic development and government decentralisation. Zambia has since become a multi-party state and has experienced several peaceful transitions of power.

Zambia contains abundant natural resources, including minerals, wildlife, forestry, freshwater and arable land. In 2010, the World Bank named Zambia one of the world's fastest economically reformed countries. The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is headquartered in Lusaka. Zambia is a landlocked country in southern Africa, with a tropical climate, and consists mostly of high plateaus with some hills and mountains, dissected by river valleys. At 752,614 km2 (290,586 sq mi) it is the 39th-largest country in the world, slightly smaller than Chile. The country lies mostly between latitudes 8° and 18°S, and longitudes 22° and 34°E.

Zambia is drained by two major river basins: the Zambezi/Kafue basin in the center, west, and south covering about three-quarters of the country; and the Congo basin in the north covering about one-quarter of the country. A very small area in the northeast forms part of the internal drainage basin of Lake Rukwa in Tanzania.

In the Zambezi basin, there are a number of major rivers flowing wholly or partially through Zambia: the Kabompo, Lungwebungu, Kafue, Luangwa, and the Zambezi itself, which flows through the country in the west and then forms its southern border with Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Its source is in Zambia but it diverts into Angola, and a number of its tributaries rise in Angola's central highlands. The edge of the Cuando River floodplain (not its main channel) forms Zambia's southwestern border, and via the Chobe River that river contributes very little water to the Zambezi because most are lost by evaporation.

Two of the Zambezi's longest and largest tributaries, the Kafue and the Luangwa, flow mainly in Zambia. Their confluences with the Zambezi are on the border with Zimbabwe at Chirundu and Luangwa town respectively. Before its confluence, the Luangwa River forms part of Zambia's border with Mozambique. From Luangwa town, the Zambezi leaves Zambia and flows into Mozambique, and eventually into the Mozambique Channel.

The Zambezi falls about 100 metres (328 ft) over the 1.6-kilometre-wide (1-mile) Victoria Falls, located in the southwest corner of the country, subsequently flowing into Lake Kariba. The Zambezi valley, running along the southern border, is both deep and wide. From Lake Kariba going east, it is formed by grabens and like the Luangwa, Mweru-Luapula, Mweru-wa-Ntipa and Lake Tanganyika valleys, is a rift valley. mapa de Zambia Africa mapa de zambia , carte de la zambie , #zambia ,

???????? The Great North Road in Zambia ????????

From Nakonde (starting 40 km outside because of terrible road and dust) to Mpika (ca 380 km). Total time: 9-10 hours. There are some newly upgraded parts (50-100 km excellent tarmac by Chinese), 30 km of diversions along the roadworks. 200 km of old tarmac with terrible potholes ????. The last 100 km (turn off to North Luangwa NP - 60 km north of Mpika) and finally a brand new 4 lane highway????

Glimpses of Zambia, 2015

In this 18-minute travel documentary, Usha Alexander presents some of what she saw and learned during her wonderful 12-day trip to Zambia in November 2015. She visited the beautiful South Luangwa National Park, Lusaka, Livingstone, Victoria Falls, and Mukuni village. Zambia | Things to do in Mbala

Mbala is located in the Northern Province of Zambia. It is 25km from the border with Tanzania and connected by a dry-season road to one of only two road border crossings between the two countries. The two countries also share access to Kalambo Falls which was my main reason for heading to Mbala.

Things to do in Mbala include
Daytrip to Kalambo Falls
visiting Moto Moto Museum
Enjoying sunset and sunrise over Lake Chila from Lake Chila Lodge

Thanks for watching
