Naarden Vesting
Een van de mooiste vestingsteden van Nederland is wel de vesting Naarden.
Zeer uitgebreid, rondom de gehele binnenstad en goed onderhouden. In de vesting ook het Vesting Museum. Daarnaast is de binnenstad zelf erg mooi en gezellig. Met het mooie weer zijn de terrassen goed gevuld. Eyecatchers in de binnenstad zijn natuurlijk de grote kerk van Naarden waar op goede vrijdag voor Pasen altijd de Matheus Passion wordt opgevoerd en de binnenhaven met het Arsenaal, waar tegenwoordig een waaier van bedrijven en restaurants is gevestigd.
Naarden Vesting: altijd de moeite waard om te bezoeken, ook al ben je er meerdere malen geweest.
Wij waren er op 4 mei 2023. Vandaar alle vlaggen, die halfstok hangen.
One of the most beautiful fortified towns in the Netherlands is the Naarden fortress. Very extensive, around the entire city center and well maintained. The Fortress Museum is also located in the fortress. In addition, the city center itself is very nice and cozy. When the weather is nice, the terraces are well filled. Eye-catchers in the city center are of course the large church of Naarden, where the Matheus Passion is always performed on Good Friday before Easter, and the inner harbor with the Arsenaal, which nowadays houses a range of companies and restaurants.
Naarden Vesting: always worth a visit, even if you have been there several times.
We were there on May 4, 2023. Hence all flags, which hang at half-mast.

Naarden, The Star Fortress - Discover The Netherlands in Cinematic 4k
Naarden is one of the best preserved fortified cities in Europe and is especially famous for its special and well-preserved star shape. The fortress has six bastions, a double wall and a double canal belt. It is good to walk on the fortifications. A cruise around the works is also possible. The extensive fortress designed by Adriaen Anthonisz, of which large parts from the 17th century are still present, is for the most part freely accessible.
The fortress is part of the New Dutch Waterline and also houses the Dutch Fortress Museum in the Turfpoort bastion. Here the visitor can see what a fortress looked like during use, and also view the collection of objects from 1350 to 1945. During the frequent activities in the museum, both indoors and outdoors, visitors can also experience what it was like in a fortress. The Waterline Path runs around the fortress, making the scope of the works clearly visible. The fortress also houses the biennial national FotoFestival Naarden. The entire fortress was owned by the State until January 15, 2016; After the military function was discontinued, its parts were successively transferred from Defense to the portfolio of the Government Buildings Agency, and subsequently transferred by the Government Buildings Agency to the National Monuments Organization on 15 January 2016. The fortress is a protected cityscape

Naarden is a city in Gooi region in the province of North Holland, Netherlands.
Naarden was granted its city rights in 1300 (the only town in the Gooi with these rights) and later developed into a fortified garrison town with a textile industry. Naarden is an example of a star fort, complete with fortified walls and a moat. The moat and walls have been restored at numerous occasions, most notably during the French era (1795-1814).

Naarden was granted its city rights in 1300 and later developed into a fortressed garrison town. The Saint-Vitus church is a gothic basilica built in the 14e/ 15e century. The church came into the hands of the Protestants in 1576. Of great importance are the 16th century painted timber vaults. The Town Hall dates from 1601 and is a good example of Netherlandish Renaissance.
