THAILAND: Chiang Mai Old City - Best things to do | day and night ????????

As the largest city in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is a must for anyone traveling here for tourism. In this video, you'll discover Chang Mai's Old City, the walled city. It's exactly one square mile full of history, temples, and things to do. Better yet: I'll show you what to do in the Old City both during the day and at night. Get ready for the beautiful and impressive temples of Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Phra Singh, and to enjoy the lively Sunday night market.

Chiang Mai was founded in 1296 and it's the capital of Chiang Mai Province in northern Thailand. The name means New City in Thai. That's because back then it became the new capital of the Lan Na kingdom (an ancient kingdom that existed in the area). The city was also very important historically. It's strategically located on the Ping River (a major tributary of the Chao Phraya River), and close to major trading routes.

► WHO AM I?

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

TOP 5 BEST THAI DISHES! | My Favorite Thai Food in Bangkok, Thailand!

Huge thank you to Greg from Travizeo for filming and making this video!
Subscribe now: for 2 new videos every week.
A totally different style video today, hope you enjoy it!

One of the most common questions I get asked is Mark, “what are your favorite Thai foods?” And so when Greg was in Bangkok I thought it would be an awesome idea to cover when he was filming with his amazing video skills.

By the way, Greg films cinematic travel videos for brands and promotions, and he also happens to love to eat! Go check out his videos ( and website for more details ( And I was very excited when he offered to film and edit a video for me.

Choosing my favorite Thai dishes is a very hard thing to do, but I narrowed it down.

1. Braised beef fire pot (เกาเหลาเนื้อหม้อไฟ) at Heng Chun Seng (ร้าน เฮ้งชุนเส็ง) - There’s just about nothing better to eat for breakfast in Bangkok, and after trying quite a few versions, Heng Chun Seng is still my favorite. The beef is tender and most of all the soup is so fragrant from the herbs and beef. Google map:

2. Holy basil stir fry (กระเพราหมูสับ) at Ung Jia Huad (ร้านอึ้งเจี่ยฮวด) - If there’s one dish that could be the most popular and beloved easy to eat Thai food, it’s holy basil stir fry (with your choice of meat). It’s a dish that always hits the spot. Google map:

3. Green papaya salad (ตำปูปลาร้า) Stall on Sukhumvit - You’ll find green papaya salad on just about every street corning in Bangkok and throughout Thailand. My favorite version is som tam boo plaraa, dressed with fermented fish sauce.

4. Fish viscera curry (แกงไตปลา) at Janhom (ร้านจันทร์หอม) - Southern Thai food is always a favorite of mine, and gaeng tai pla, or a curry made with fish viscera is one of the most flavorful Thai foods of them all. Google map:

5. Jungle curry (แกงป่า) at Pla Mae Nam (ร้านปลาแม่น้ำ) - A dish I just can’t get over, and have to order every chance I have, is Thai jungle curry. It’s an amazing mixture of chilies and herbs, and in this case, fish. This is also one of my favorite restaurants in Bangkok at the moment as well. Google map:

There it is, 5 of my favorite dishes in Thailand. Thank you for watching this video!

Again, huge thank you to Greg from Travizeo for filming and editing this entire video!

The TOP 10 Thai Foods (That I'd Never Heard of Before Moving to Thailand)

Believe it or not- even after many visits to Thailand and after more than a decade of cooking and running restaurants in Asia- it turns out I knew next to nothing about Thai food beyond the stuff we find all over the world. Visiting Thailand, it's those very same dishes- som tam, different colored curries, mango sticy rice- that are sold in tourist areas, and it never occurred to me that there might be so much more to the cuisine. But as it turns out...there's an entire world of tastes and flavors that haven't yet found their way beyond the borders. So as we wrap up our first full year of living in Thailand, here is our list of the top 10 Thai foods that we never knew existed before we moved here!

Happy Holidays from OTR!

Hua Hin, THAILAND | worth to travel during Songkran?

Hua Hin, in Thailand, is a beautiful beach community within driving distance from Bangkok. It's just a little bit more than 3 hours away. We visited Hua Hin during Songkran, Thai's New Year festival. Songkran is a massive celebration throughout Thailand, where people throw water at one another as a way to bring good luck for the upcoming year. It ends up being very fun!

In this video, you'll see Hua Hin beach, Songkran during the morning (the afternoon - and more intense part - is coming up in the next video), and 2 places worth visiting in Hua Hin: Monkey Mountain and the Seven Kings of Siam at Rajabhakti Park.

P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American and he's actually camera-shy, that's why he's behind the camera most of the time ????

Chiang Mai, THAILAND: Thai food, day and night markets

Chiang Mai, Thailand is a great city to experience the street markets and try the fantastic Thai food. In this video, you'll see the area close to the Ping river, where there are many daytime markets. We visit the Warorot Market, then cross the river to try a delicious khao soi, probably the most famous dish in northern Thailand. Khao soi is a soup-like dish very common in the Chang Mai region, but not so easy to find in Thai restaurants abroad. So it can't be missed when you travel to Thailand. At night we visit various night markets, starting with the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar.

As the largest city in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is a must for anyone traveling to the country for tourism. It was founded in 1296, and it's the capital of Chiang Mai Province. The name means New City in Thai. That's because back then, it became the new capital of the Lanna kingdom (an ancient kingdom that existed in the area). The city was also very important historically. It's strategically located on the Ping River (a major tributary of the Chao Phraya River) and close to major trading routes.
