7000 hommes, 50 bâtiments répartis sur une surface de 254 hectares, 10 km de fil de fer barbelé et 6 km de tranchées.
Le Fort de Mutzig, Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II fut aussi le plus moderne de son époque : première structure militaire entièrement électrifiée, bétonnée et cuirassée (équipée de tourelles).
Le Fort a été construit par les allemands entre 1893 et 1916.

Zwischendurch tauscht sie die Fortbewegungsmittel: die silberne 59er Corvette aus dem Oldtimermuseum in Mulhouse gegen einen E-Chopper und den gegen eine knallrote Ente. Auf dem Petit Ballon an der Grenze zu den Vogesen schnürt sie die Wanderschuhe. Und von Niderviller geht es mit dem Hausboot über den Rhein-Marne Kanal. Als Wegzehrung genießt sie Gugelhupf, Flammkuchen und Munsterkäse.
Klein-Venedig heißt das Herz von Colmar mit seinen farbenfrohen Fachwerkhäusern an den Ufern des kleinen Flüsschens Lauch. Tamina Kallert genießt ihren Flammkuchen inmitten einer märchenhaften Atmosphäre. Elsässischen Charme findet sie im Straßburger Viertel Petit France, das von den beiden Armen der Ill umflossen wird. Am Liebfrauenmünster trifft sie Matthias del Sordo, der ihr die Neustadt mit ihren klassizistischen, großen Wohnhäusern zeigt.
Die Festungsstadt Neuf-Brisach gilt als der Inbegriff einer barocken Festungsanlage. Im 17. Jahrhundert vom Lieblingsbaumeister von Ludwig IV. errichtet, beherbergen die historischen Mauern heute ein lebendiges Street-Art-Museum. Auch Tamina Kallert darf ein Graffito sprühen. Neuschwanstein des Elsass wird das Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg genannt. Tamina Kallert erkundet die mittelalterliche Burg und genießt den Blick aus 760 Meter Höhe ins Oberrheintal.
Im Herzen der Weinbauregion liegt Riquewihr. Tamina Kallert bummelt durch das Städtchen, das zu den schönsten des Elsass zählt, und leiht sich einen E-Chopper aus. Damit geht es durch die Weinberge nach Zellenberg, wo die Familie von Jean Becker seit 400 Jahren ein Weingut besitzt. Für die kurvigen Straßen und Wege des romantischen Breuschtals eignet sich ganz besonders die knallrote Ente von Reiseführer Thierry. Im Gepäck hat er Geschichten und Legenden aus der Gegend – und einen gut gefüllten Picknickkorb.

Zürich Christmas Markets [Full Travel Guide]
Zürich is full of beautiful Christmas markets! There are so many, that you would need a whole afternoon to explore them all. The first market that you need to visit is the Weihnachtsdorf at the Sechseläuten square near Bellevue. It’s a yearly market with a festive lighting decoration and plenty of stalls. The market is quite foodie, so consider going there for dinner. There are smaller markets just nearby, for example just at the Grossmünster and then inside the Niederdörfli, the old city of Zürich. The market and especially the lighting decorations are very charming. It’s going to feel very cozy. Walk around the old city, explore the many alleys to enjoy the wonderful Christmas lights. Very nice is the market at the Fraumünster square. This market is rather small but feels very joyous due to the many houses being lit up beautifully. Important points of interest with beautiful lights are at the Hotel Storchen, the Augustinergasse, Rennweg, Parade square and Bahnhofstrasse. The lightings along the Bahnhofstrasse are called Lucy and have been fascinating the locals for over 10 years. There is also the fairytale tram that provides a small city tour for the kids, accompanied by Santa and his angels. The tour starts at the Bellevue at where you also can buy tickets. Another major market is the Christkindl market at Zürich HB (Zurich main station). It’s a rather traditional one, full of stall that sell handmade products and Christmas gifts. Very fascinating is the large Christmas tree with the many Swarovski diamonds. The most beautiful lighting decoration you will however get at the National Museum at the Illuminarium. This market is very festive and modern, even the Christmas tree there is made out of wood. Enjoy the light show of the Art festival, which you will have to pay entry for.

Forte di Mutzig (Fort de Mutzig - Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II)
Il Forte de Mutzig , noto anche come Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II, si trova vicino alla città di Mutzig, ad ovest di Strasburgo. Fu la prima nuova fortificazione costruita in quello che allora era territorio tedesco, dopo l'invenzione di esplosivi ad alto potenziale, che resero obsolete le precedenti fortificazioni in muratura.
Il Forte de Mutzig faceva parte di una rete di forti che circondavano Strasburgo e Metz che erano stati costruiti dai tedeschi dopo la fine della guerra franco-prussiana.
La visita al forte prevede un biglietto di ingresso a pagamento con il quale si può visitare solo una parte di tutta la fortificazione. Gran parte della visita si sviluppa nei sotterrai e pertanto la temperatura interna è molto rigida anche in estate.

Morzine: A Guide to the Resort of Morzine

Morzine is one of the towns in the massive Portes du Soleil, a ski area that stretches across thirteen resorts through France and Switzerland.
Morzine was originally a small farming and mining town, the first lift to be installed here was the Pleney cable car in 1934 and since then the town has grown into a full on resort with all the trappings you'd expect whilst still retaining it's traditional French charm.
Morzine sits in the Haute Savoie region of France just over an hour from Geneva airport, making it one of the easiest resorts to reach from the UK.
The town lies on two sides of the Dranse river that flows through the bottom of the valley, the sides of which are adorned with traditionally styled wooden chalets with slate roofs. There are almost no high rise buildings in Morzine and as this helped the town keep it's charm.
There are some excellent Hotels in Morzine like The Farmhouse but most of the accommodation is in self contained, independent chalets. In many cases these are run by families who fell in love with Morzine and never wanted to leave and they offer excellent facilities and service at very competitive rates.
The centre of Morzine is the Tourist Office and from here it's a short walk to the lifts on either side of the valley that will take you up to either Morzine and Les Gets or Avoriaz and the further Portes du Soleil.
As Morzine is still a town rather than just a resort it is possible to drive around but for those without their own transport there is a free bus system that starts and finishes at the foot of Le Pleney but accesses the Prodians, Super Morzine and Ardent lift stations.
Of course no French town would be complete without a bakery and there are several in Morzine, the most popular being the Bonboniere de Tavernier. Here you'll find artisanal chocolates and excellent French pastries and cakes.
Morzine also has some good shops, most of them are here to service the skiers and snowboarders but there are some shops offering shoes, jewellery and clothing as well as gifts and souvenirs.
For skiers and snowboarders there are several big chain stores like Intersport where you can rent and buy equipment as well as smaller in dependant stores like Slopestyle, Attack Attack and the Woods.
The town also has some great bars and restaurants. Bar Robbinson or Robbos as it's locally known is a tiny French café bar with a legendarily strong beer; Mutzig. It's a must for any visitor and always popular with the locals.
For live sport the Dixie Bar just next door has several huge screens and is always packed during the Six Nations Rugby and big Football matches.
Up near the tourist office The Cavern, Crepu and Tibetan Café are always popular especially on a Tuesday night when the Chalet staff have their night off.
For a more civilised affair try the Beanies for cocktails, the Coup de Couer wine bar on the high street or the hipster Micro Brewery the Bec Juane at the top of town.
Between these bars and the late night venues like Opera and Cafe Chaud Morzine has a great apres ski and night life but if fine food rather than beer and music is your idea of a night out then you will not be disappointed with Le Grange, Chaumade or Ferme de Frutiere.
Morzine also has two cinemas and a swimming pool complex as well as it's own ice hockey team; The Penguins. Added to this options to go paragliding, husky dog sledging and snow mobiling and it is a great winter destination even for those who don't ski.
Morzine is a very picturesque town. It feels like a French town rather than a ski resort but in the last few years it has installed new lifts and sports facilities and new bars and restaurants have begun emerging meaning that it can hold it's own against many of the big name resorts in the Alps.
With it's charm and quality as well as it's location, just an hour from an airport and in the middle of one of the biggest ski areas in the world Morzine really is one of our favourite winter destinations.

The Musée de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame is the city of Strasbourg's museum for Upper Rhenish fine arts and decorative arts from the early Middle Ages until 1681. The museum is famous for its rich holdings of original sculptures, glass windows, architectural fragments and building plans of Strasbourg Cathedral, as well as for its considerable collection of works by Peter Hemmel von Andlau, Niclas Gerhaert van Leyden, Nikolaus Hagenauer, Ivo Strigel, Konrad Witz, Hans Baldung and Sebastian Stoskopff.
The Musée de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame had been created to merge under a single roof four thematically related but differently focussed collections of all types of Upper Rhenish art until 1681. It is located in the half-Gothic, half-Renaissance core building of the Fondation de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame and in several early Baroque timber-framed houses surrounding it.
The first documentary evidence of the Strasbourg Fondation de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame dates back to 1281, and it is still responsible for the maintenance of the cathedral. Besides the building plans, which have been saved from the very beginning, they also preserve architectural parts, such as fragments of the choir screen destroyed in 1681 and the originals of the sculptures which were removed or knocked down during the French Revolution and later replaced by copies. The Société pour la conservation des monuments historiques d’Alsace (Society for the Conservation of the Historical Monuments of Alsace), for their part, had endeavored to rescue the most valuable components and decorations (altars, statues, vessels, tapestries) from churches, cloisters and chapels which had been abandoned to destruction or decay throughout Alsace.
The painting collection of the city, restored by Wilhelm von Bode as of 1890, had also focussed right from the beginning on regional masters, through the donation of the Portrait of the canon Ambrosius Volmar Keller, a masterpiece of Hans Baldung from the private collection of Wilhelm II. Finally, in the new museum of decorative arts of the city, the Hohenlohe Museum, works of decorative art from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Early Baroque were also exhibited. Those four collections, kept in various locations and with various points of concentration, were united in 1931 in the newly founded Musée de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame. In 1956, after the repair of the damage caused by the bombing of Strasbourg during the war in 1944, it was re-opened in an expanded condition.
Besides the cathedral sculptures, glass windows, etc., the collection also boasts valuable components from other Strasbourg churches, such as the Temple Neuf, destroyed in 1870, the Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux Church, renovated in 1867, and the Église Sainte-Madeleine, destroyed by fire in 1904. In addition, the romanesque components (cloister, baptismal font) from St Trophimus' Church, Eschau and the stained glass windows from St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, Wissembourg and Mutzig are also important. Furthermore, many late gothic altars are assigned to anonymous masters of the Schongauer School.

Hohkönigsburg | Drehort Die große Illusion mit Jean Gabin | Elsass
Die Burg HOKÖNIGSBURG beim Dorf Orschwiller (Orschweiler) und nahe der Stadt Sélestat (Schlettstadt) im Elsass ist eine um 1900 rekonstruierte riesige Burg. Beauftragt hatte die Rekonstruierung der staufische Reichsburg aus dem 12. Jahrhundert der deutsche Kaiser Wilhelm II.. Die 260 Meter lange Anlage thront in 750 Metern Höhe auf einem Bergrücken am Ostrand der Vogesen. Hohkönigsburg ist heute die meistbesuchte Burg der Region. Die Burg Hohkönigsburg spielte in der Kinogeschichte eine bedeutende Rolle. 1937 war die Burg Filmdrehort des Kinoklassikers Die große Illusion von Jean Renoir mit Jean Gabin und Erich von Stroheim.

Das heutige Video von Europe Remembers On Tour erkundet Colmar und Turckheim in der Region Elsass im Nordosten Frankreichs.
Wir entdecken das Museum-Gedenkstätte Schlacht im Brückenkopf von Colmar und erfahren mehr über die Schwierigkeiten der Alliierten bei der Befreiung des 65 Kilometer langen westlichen Rheinufers, rund um die Stadt Colmar.
Wir besuchen die nationale Nekropole von Sigolsheim, die letzte Ruhestätte für 1601 französische Soldaten die während der Kämpfe gefallen sind und hören die unglaubliche Geschichte von Audie Murphy.

Petite visite cette fois ci du Mémorial d'Alsace-Moselle située à SCHIRMECK (67)
Musée qui retrace la nationalité changeante de l'Alsace-Moselle entre 1870 et 1960.
/! La germanisation de l'Alsace Moselle à partir des années 30 est représentée dans ce musée, il y a donc des symboles et représentations liées à l'époque Hitlérienne /!
Soyez indulgents pour la qualité des vidéos, je filme avec un téléphone portable ^^
