#திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் முத்துப்பேட்டையில் உள்ள #அலையாத்தி காடுகள் தமிழ்நாட்டிலேயே மிகப் பெரிய #சதுப்பு நிலக்காடுகளாகும். இது திருவாரூர் மற்றும் தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டத்திற்கு இடையில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இதன் மொத்த பரப்பளவு 119 கிலோ மீட்டர். முத்துப்பேட்டை மாங்குரோவ் காடுகள் பிச்சாவரம் மாங்குரோவ் காடுகளைவிட 10 மடங்கு பெரியது. தென்னிந்தியாவின் மிகப்பெரிய மாங்குரோவ் காடுகள் இவை.ஆறுகள் கடலில் கலக்கும் இடங்களில் சேறு கலந்த சதுப்பு நிலங்களில் அலையாத்தி காடுகள் வளர்கின்றன. கோரையாறு, பாமணி ஆறு, வளவனாறு, கிளைதாங்கி ஆறு, நசுவினி ஆறு, பாட்டுவனாச்சி ஆறு, கண்டபறிச்சான்கோரையாறு, மரைக்காகோரையாறு ஆகிய ஆறுகள் திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் முத்துப்பேட்டையில் கடலில் கலக்கும் ஆழமற்ற பகுதி லகூன் எனப்படுகிறது. இங்கு வளரும் காடுகள் தான் அலையாத்தி காடுகள். கழுதை முள்ளி, நரிக்கண்டல், வெண்கடல், பன்னுக்குத்தி, கருங்கண்டல், சிறுகண்டல், தில்லை, திப்பரந்தை, நெட்டை, சுரப்புன்னை, குட்டை சுரப்புன்னை, மலட்டு சுரப்புன்னை, சோமுந்திரி, சோனரேசியா எபிடெலா உள்ளிட்ட மரங்கள் வளர்கின்றன. சாம்பல் நிறத்தில் இருக்கும் இம்மரங்கள் செப்டம்பர் முதல் நவம்பர் வரை பூக்கும் தன்மை கொண்டவை. வேர்கள் மூலம் சுவாசிக்கும் தன்மையுடைய அவி, சென்னியா, மெனரனா எனப்படும் தாவரம் முத்துப்பேட்டையில் உள்ள இந்த சதுப்பு நில காடுகளில்தான் உள்ளது. புவியியல் அமைப்பில் முக்கியமான ஈரப் பத நிலப்பகுதியாக முத்துபேட்டை அலையாத்தி காடுகள் குறிப்பிடப்படுகின்றன.
நாட்டில் உள்ள அலையாத்தி காடுகளில் 61 சதவீத காடுகள் தமிழ்நாட்டில் திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் முத்துப்பேட்டை, தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டம் அதிராம்பட்டினம் பகுதிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய லகூன் பகுதியில் 29,713 ஏக்கரில் பரந்துவிரிந்துள்ளது. அலையாத்தி காடுகளை காண தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்தும் நாள்தோறும் சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் குவிகிறார்கள். முத்துப்பேட்டை, ஜாம்புவானோடை போன்ற பகுதிகளில் இருந்து மீனவர்களின் படகு மூலம்தான் சென்று சுற்றிப்பார்க்க வேண்டும். 7 கிலோ மீட்டர் தொலைவு ஆற்றில் செல்லும்போது இருபுறமும் இருக்கும் அலையாத்தி காடுகள் கண்ணுக்கு குளிர்ச்சி அளிக்கும். பார்வை கோபுரங்களில் ஏறி லகூன் அழகை காணலாம். யாழ்பாணத்தான்கோரி, சீப் கார்னர், செல்லிமுனை பார்வை கோபுரங்கள், நடுவாய்க்கால், உப்புத்தோட்டம், வவ்வால் தோட்டம் ஆகியவை பார்க்க வேண்டிய இடங்கள்.
கடலுக்குள் ஆறுகள் சேரும் முன்பாக பல லகூன்கள் உண்டாகியிருக்கின்றன. லகூன்களின் கரையில் காணப்படும் காடுகள் தான் மாங்ரோவ் காடுகள் அல்லது அலையாத்திக்காடுகள்.கடல் அலைகளின் வேகத்தை மட்டுப்படுத்தி நிலத்தைக்காப்பதால் காலம் காலமாக நிலவிவரும் தமிழ்ப்பெயர் அலையாத்திக்காடுகள். ஆங்கிலத்தில் இவை மாங்குரோவ் காடுகள் எனப்படுகின்றன. மலாய், எசுப்பானியம், போர்ச், சுவிசு மொழிகள் இணைந்த சிறுமரங்கள் எனப்பொருள்படும் மாங்கு என்ற சொல்லில் இருந்தே மாங்குரோவ் காடுகள் என்ற பெயர் ஏற்பட்டது. இக்காடுகளுக்கு வெள்ளக்காடு என்றொரு பெயரும் உண்டு.
வேர்கள் மூலம் சுவாசிக்கும் தன்மையுடைய அவி, சென்னியா, மெனரனா எனப்படும் தாவரம் முத்துப்பேட்டையில் உள்ள இந்த சதுப்பு நில காடுகளில்தான் உள்ளன.பிற சதுப்பு நில வகைகள் கண்டல்,தில்லை, சுரப்புன்னை மற்றும் செரியோப்ஸ் டிக்கேன்ட்ரா வகையும் வெற்றிகரமாக முத்துப்பேட்டை சதுப்பு நிலக் காடுகளில் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. புவியியல் அமைப்பில் முக்கியமான ஈரப் பத நிலப்பகுதியாக முத்துபேட்டை அலையாத்தி காடுகள் குறிப்பிடப்படுகின்றன.
ஓவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் அக்டோபர் முதல் ஜனவரி வரையில் அதிக எண்ணிக்கையிலானப் பறவைகள் இந்த பகுதிக்கு வருகின்றன. இப்பறவைகள் சைபீரியா, மத்திய ஆசியா, ரஷ்யாவின் வடபகுதி மற்றும் ஐரோப்பா போன்ற உலகின் பல பகுதிகளில் இருந்து வருகின்றன.
மேலும் பூநாரை,செங்கால் நாரை, சிறவி, நீர்க்காகம் போன்ற நீர்ப் பறவைகளைக் குறிப்பிடலாம். கொக்கு, மீன்கொத்தி, நாரை போன்ற அழியும் தறுவாயில் உள்ள நீர்ப்பறவைகள் இப்பகுதியில் நிலையாக வசிக்கின்றன. முத்துப்பேட்டை நில பறவைகளான பருந்து, சிவப்பு வளைய பச்சைக் கிளிகள் மற்றும் புள்ளி புறா வகைகள் உள்ளன. முத்துப் பேட்டை சதுப்பு நிலக்காடுகளில் பாலுட்டி வகைகளான காட்டுப் பூனைகள், குறுகிய மூக்கு உள்ள பூசந்தின்னி வெளவ்வால்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. கீப் கார்னர் செல்லி முனை, லகடன் கடல் முகத்துவாரம் சேத்குடா உப்புத் தேரோட்டம் ஆகியன இங்குள்ள அழகுமிகு பகுதிகள்.
சுனாமி பேரலையில் இருந்து முத்துப்பேட்டையை காப்பாற்றியது அலையாத்தி காடுகள்தான். திருவாரூர் மாவட்டத்தை இயற்கை சீற்றங்களில் இருந்து காக்க கூடிய அரணாகவும் அலையாத்திக் காடுகள் உள்ளன. சாம்புவானோடை படகு துறையில் இருந்து இருபுறமும் அலையாத்தி மரங்களை கொண்ட நீர்ப் பாதையில் சுமார் 6 கீ.மீ தூரத்தை கடந்தால் கடல் முகத்துவாரத்தைக் காணமுடியும். இப்பாதையில் ஏராளமான திட்டுகள் குட்டித் தீவுகளாகக் காட்சி அளிக்கின்றன.
சதுப்பு நிலக் காடுகளின் அழகைக் காண வரும் சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் தங்கி இளைப்பாற ஓய்விடங்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இங்கு 162 மீட்டர் நீளத்திற்கு மரத்திலான நடை பாதைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இது போன்ற அமைப்பு வேறு எந்த சதுப்பு நிலக் காடுகளில் இல்லை என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இது தவிர ஓய்விடத்திலிருந்து சதுப்பு நிலக் காடுகளைக் காணும் வகையில் கண்காணிப்பு கோபுரங்களும் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. முத்துப்பேட்டை வனத்துறை அலுவலகத்தில் அனுமதி பெற்று ஜாம்புவானோடைப் பகுதியில் இருந்து தனியார் மீன்பிடி படகுகள் மூலம் அலையாத்திக் காடுகளுக்குச் செல்ல வேண்டும்.

The Manora fort is situated 20 km (12 mi) away from Pattukkottai, Tamil Nadu, India and 60 km (37 mi) away from Thanjavur. The fort was built by Maratha ruler Serfoji II in 1814–1815 to commemorate the successful advance of the British over Napoléon Bonaparte. It is an eight-storeyed, hexagonal tower, which is 23 m high overlooking the Bay of Bengal. The fort derives its name Manora, from the word Minaret.

Muthupettai (முத்துப்பேட்டை) is a town in the Thiruvarur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Pearlpet. Muthupet comes under the Thiruthuraipoondi assembly constituency which elects a member to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly every five years. The current member of the legislative assembly (MLA) is Marimuthu of the Communist Party of India, a part of the Nagapattinam (Lok Sabha constituency), which elects its member of parliament (MP) every five years. The Muthupet city in-town panchayat was constituted in 1962. The town comes under the administrative territory of the Thiruvarur District. It extends over an area of 12.80 km2.

பட்டுக்கோட்டை அருகிலுள்ள திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் முத்துப்பேட்டையில் உள்ள அலையாத்தி காடுகள் தமிழ்நாட்டிலேயே மிகப் பெரிய சதுப்பு நிலக்காடுகளாகும். ஆறுகள் கடலில் கலக்கும் இடங்களில் சேறு கலந்த சதுப்பு நிலங்களில் அலையாத்தி காடுகள் வளர்கின்றன. கோரையாறு, பாமணி ஆறு, வளவனாறு, கிளைதாங்கி ஆறு, நசுவினி ஆறு, பாட்டுவனாச்சி ஆறு, கண்டபறிச்சான்கோரையாறு, மரைக்காகோரையாறு ஆகிய ஆறுகள் திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் முத்துப்பேட்டையில் கடலில் கலக்கும் ஆழமற்ற பகுதி லகூன் எனப்படுகிறது. இங்கு வளரும் காடுகள் தான் அலையாத்தி காடுகள். கழுதை முள்ளி, நரிக்கண்டல், வெண்கடல், பன்னுக்குத்தி, கருங்கண்டல், சிறுகண்டல், தில்லை, திப்பரந்தை, நெட்டை, சுரப்புன்னை, குட்டை சுரப்புன்னை, மலட்டு சுரப்புன்னை, சோமுந்திரி, சோனரேசியா எபிடெலா உள்ளிட்ட மரங்கள் வளர்கின்றன. சாம்பல் நிறத்தில் இருக்கும் இம்மரங்கள் செப்டம்பர் முதல் நவம்பர் வரை பூக்கும் தன்மை கொண்டவை. வேர்கள் மூலம் சுவாசிக்கும் தன்மையுடைய அவி, சென்னியா, மெனரனா எனப்படும் தாவரம் முத்துப்பேட்டையில் உள்ள இந்த சதுப்பு நில காடுகளில்தான் உள்ளது. புவியியல் அமைப்பில் முக்கியமான ஈரப் பத நிலப்பகுதியாக முத்துபேட்டை அலையாத்தி காடுகள் குறிப்பிடப்படுகின்றன.
நாட்டில் உள்ள அலையாத்தி காடுகளில் 61 சதவீத காடுகள் தமிழ்நாட்டில் திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் முத்துப்பேட்டை, தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டம் அதிராம்பட்டினம் பகுதிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய லகூன் பகுதியில் 29,713 ஏக்கரில் பரந்துவிரிந்துள்ளது. அலையாத்தி காடுகளை காண தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்தும் நாள்தோறும் சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் குவிகிறார்கள். முத்துப்பேட்டை, ஜாம்புவானோடை போன்ற பகுதிகளில் இருந்து மீனவர்களின் படகு மூலம்தான் சென்று சுற்றிப்பார்க்க வேண்டும். 7 கிலோ மீட்டர் தொலைவு ஆற்றில் செல்லும்போது இருபுறமும் இருக்கும் அலையாத்தி காடுகள் கண்ணுக்கு குளிர்ச்சி அளிக்கும். பார்வை கோபுரங்களில் ஏறி லகூன் அழகை காணலாம். யாழ்பாணத்தான்கோரி, சீப் கார்னர், செல்லிமுனை பார்வை கோபுரங்கள், நடுவாய்க்கால், உப்புத்தோட்டம், வவ்வால் தோட்டம் ஆகியவை பார்க்க வேண்டிய இடங்கள்.
சுனாமி பேரலையில் இருந்து முத்துப்பேட்டையை காப்பாற்றியது அலையாத்தி காடுகள்தான். திருவாரூர் மாவட்டத்தை இயற்கை கீற்றங்களில் இருந்து காக்க கூடிய அரணாகவும் அலையாத்திக் காடுகள் உள்ளன. சாம்புவானோடை படகு துறையில் இருந்து இருபுறமும் அலையாத்தி மரங்களை கொண்ட நீர்ப் பாதையில் சுமார் 6கீ.மீ தூரத்தை கடந்தால் கடல் முகத்துவாரத்தைக் காணமுடியும். இப்பாதையில் ஏராளமான திட்டுகள் குட்டித் தீவுகளாகக் காட்சி அளிப்பது அழகு.
Muthupet Lagoon is located at the southern end of the Cauvery river delta on the Bay of Bengal, covering an area of approximately 6,803.01 ha of which only 4% is occupied by well-grown mangroves. The rivers Paminiyar, Koraiyar, Kilaithankiyar, Marakkakoraiyar and other tributaries of the river Cauvery flow through Muthupet and adjacent villages. At the tail end, they form a lagoon before meeting the sea. The northern and western borders of the lagoon are occupied by muddy silt ground which is devoid of mangroves. The mangroves beyond Muthupet lagoon are discontinuously found along the shore and extended up to Point Calimere. Muthupet mangrove forest was under the control of Chatram Department from 1853 to 1912 (Chengappa, 1918). The Government of the Presidency of Madras Gazette (1937) shows, from 1923 to 1936, half of the revenue obtained from selling mangrove products was paid to the revenue department and the remaining half was spent to maintain the Chatrams (Charity homes). The Government declared the Muthupet mangrove forest as revenue forest in February 1937 and accordingly the mangrove forest was handed over to the forest department of the Madras Presidency.
The forest is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.[1] The entire mangrove forest is divided into Palanjur reserve forest, Thamarankottai reserve forest, Maravakkadu reserve forest, Vadakadu reserve forest, Thuraikadu reserve forest and Muthupet reserve forest.
The word 'lagoon' refers to the shallow salt or brackish water body that lies close to the sea. Muthupet reserve forest covers the lagoon, river creeks and the mudflats. Muthupet (mullipallam) Lagoon is a spectacular natural creation, which is 8 km from nearby Muthupet town and can be reachable only by boat. The lagoon is shallow with the average of 1m depth. The bottom of the lagoon is formed of silt clay substratum. The tidal fluctuations can be observed well with the exposure of oyster beds and roots during low tide.
The tidal fluctuations are playing a major role in dispersing the mangrove seeds. Dense mangroves mostly cover the lagoon shore. The islets are found on western side which are submerged during high tide. The salinity is the major environmental factor, controlling zonation of Muthupet mangrove forest. Avicennia marina is the conqueror of the forest which is found as a single dominant species.
