Aussies flock to Longreach in central Queensland to encounter some of the greatest legends of the outback. Located in the vast heart of the state (13 hours’ drive from Brisbane or seven hours from Rockhampton) Longreach has forged a place for itself in Australian folklore, thanks largely to the presence of the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum.

In this episode of our YouTube travel series, we bring you tips for ten top things to do Longreach and Winton. While they’re almost two hundred kilometres apart, Longreach and Winton are often done as a duo by visitors to the region. Winton is the smaller of the two, but offers plenty to see and do in its own right.

Downtown Mount Isa walk around

Mount Isa, Queensland to Pine Creek, Northern Territory - Adventure 20

We travel from Mount Isa in Queensland, Australia through Camooweal across the border to the Northern Territory. First stop Barkly Homestead. What a lovely place to stay. We spent a couple of days relaxing before continuing our journey to Banka Banka Station. We take a walk up to the lookout on the property and enjoy the peace and quiet. The next morning we are off to Daly Waters Pub. What a quirky place! They certainly do things different in the NT! Off again and we were going to stay at Bitter Springs however were having some trouble with the truck so went straight on to Katherine. We got everything sorted in Katherine, stocked up our supplies, enjoyed the town pool and hot springs. We stayed at the Boab Caravan Park. Next stop, Pine Creek, southern gateway to Kakadu National Park and an overnight at the Lazy Lizard Caravan Park and Tavern. We hope you enjoy the video and it gives you some insight and ideas for your travels. Until next time...

Mt Isa & Cloncurry

Self drive to the highlights of the Cloncurry and Mount Isa region. Mount Isa City covers an area of over 43 310 square kilometres, making it geographically the second largest city in Australia to Kalgoorlie-Boulder WA. With a population of approximately 21,000, Mount Isa is a major service centre for North West Queensland, and a thriving city well equipped to satisfy residential, business and industrial needs.

East to West Trip #6: Mt Isa to Alice Springs 1169kms

Follow our journey as founders Matt Johns and Dave Biggar put our Off-Road and Venture models to the ultimate test - travelling from the most Easterly point of Australia, Byron Bay, to the most Westerly, Steep Point - going right through the middle of Australia.

Ep. 023 Mount Isa

In this video, we hang out with our good friend Jade and her family, while exploring what Mount Isa has to offer. First we check out the visitor information centre (which is one of our hot tips for checking out new areas), this particular info centre has a few attractions built in. The heritage display is self guided and a good insight into Mt Isa and its history. Just outside is the Outback park which is an awesome display of native Australian plants and wildlife all incorporated within the info centre. There is also the Rodeo hall of fame showcasing the biggest event in central Queensland. Lastly we check out the Riversleigh Fossil Centre, an amazing display of a world renowned fossil site - which is not very well known about but something we Australians should be very proud of. All of this in the one Information centre - what a place!
We then go exploring to try and find the Heywood granite mine (spoiler we didn't find it) we had an awesome time trying to find it though. Jade also got to experience some 4WDing for the first time.
