Top 10 Best Hotels to Visit in Savannah, Georgia | USA - English

#SavannahHotels #HotelsInSavannah #SavannahVisitHotels #Savannah
Savannah, a coastal Georgia city, is separated from South Carolina by the Savannah River. It’s known for manicured parks, horse-drawn carriages and antebellum architecture. Its historic district is filled with cobblestoned squares and parks such as Forsyth Park shaded by oak trees covered with Spanish moss. At the center of this picturesque district is the landmark, Gothic-Revival Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist.

Savannah has always been a welcoming gem of a city, but as more hotels pop up, that welcome is growing even more robust. Visitors have an enticing choice of options, most of them located in and around its historic downtown district or overlooking the banks of the Savannah River. There's a healthy smattering of contemporary, design-forward spots that celebrate the city's artistic status, as well as hotels that pay homage to Savannah's past as a thriving port city. There are also some of the finest historic inns in the country, revamped Victorian mansions that now welcome guests with luxurious period accommodations that exemplify old-fashioned southern hospitality.

10 Best Things to See and Do at Fort Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach

Nature and history come together at Fort Clinch State Park. Located in Fernandina Beach where the Cumberland Sound and Atlantic Ocean meet, this diverse 14-hundred acre park features maritime hammocks with massive moss-covered live oak trees. Several miles of pristine beach with hard-packed sand can be ridden with large-tire bicycles during low tide.

At its heart is a massive 19th century brick coastal fortification constructed as part of the US military’s Third System of seacoast defense.

The fort was named to honor Seminole War General Duncan Lamont Clinch. It’s shaped like a pentagon, with five sides and bastions on each corner. Designed to mount 70 pieces of heavy ordinance, it was never fully armed and never saw any direct combat.

One of the jewels of the Florida State Park system, there’s a lot to experience here. In this episode, we run down the 10 best things to see and do at Fort Clinch State Park.

Where to see waterfalls in Columbia River Gorge | Rainy day waterfall hikes| Oregon or Ireland

The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is home to more than 90 waterfalls. Some of them hide deep in a moss-festooned forest. Some other falls sit right along the Historic Columbia River Highway.

In fact, Oregon boasts more than 200 waterfalls. But the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, located just 35 minutes from Portland, is the best destination to find some roadside and easy to reach waterfalls.

We embarked on our waterfall hunt on a rainy day in late February. The rain didn’t stop the whole day, and then the next one. But despite the moody weather, we managed to see some of the falls and recognize a strong resemblance between the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon, and Ireland.

We’re referring to things that, until recently, were either at the bottom of the waterway or floating somewhere therein. In this video, we take a look at some of the interesting and alarming things that have been discovered since the waters of the Mississippi have receded. It’s a wild variety of historical artifacts, like ships from the 17th century, to household items like combs and toothbrushes. And even the bones of a long-extinct animal! It’s a fascinating effect of any major body of water that suddenly is a lot less full. We also talk about the ramifications of the drought of the Mississippi River.

Since the river acts as a major shipping route, as well as an important source of water for the region and the country, it is already having negative impacts on the local, national, and global economy. We go over some of the ways that the drought it affecting things economically, as well as environmentally. And we talk about how groups in the area are trying their best to get legislation passed that will help tackle this issue, both in terms of stopping the current drought from having too many negative impacts, and in terms of putting resources toward mitigating the potential for drought in the future.

Starved Rock State Park, Illinois - BEAUTIFUL waterfalls in the Midwest - Park Travel Review

We went to Starved Rock State Park in search of waterfalls. We found them! There were also lots of people! The park is beautiful. Please subscribe to our Channel if you enjoy exploring our parks and public lands!
We hiked at Starved Rock State Park in May of 2017. The Midwest had a LOT of rain that year and the canyons and river were full water.
From the Park's web site: Starved Rock State Park on the Illinois River bluff in La Salle County is one of Illinois' most beautiful destinations. The park's 18 canyons feature vertical walls of moss-covered stone formed by glacial meltwater that slice dramatically through tree-covered sandstone bluffs. More than 13 miles of trails allow access to waterfalls, fed season runoff or natural springs, sandstone overhangs, and spectacular overlooks. Lush vegetation supports abundant wildlife, while oak, cedar and pine grow on drier, sandy bluff tops.

At Happy Trails Hiking, we encourage you to live the life you love and seek solace and adventure in America’s Parks and Public Lands. We strive to motivate and inspire people through travel as well as fitness and nutrition.
Kay and Matt have been planning park travel and traveling to parks across the country for 20+ years. Kay has planned trips to National Parks for High School groups as well as couples over the last 5 years. Their personal tips and trail guides can be found on their various social media platforms as well as on their website.
Hike 365 Challenge has a new video on YouTube Sundays and our Park Travel videos come out on Mondays and Thursdays. Kay hosts the “Travel Tuesday” and “Foodie Friday” live shows on YouTube each week.
