O MELHOR DA CHAPADA DIAMANTINA NA BAHIA - Roteiro de 3 dias saindo de Lençóis - EP. 1
Nessa viagem para a Chapada Diamantina tivemos a cidade de Lençóis como base por 4 noites para explorar os atrativos ao redor.
No primeiro dia fomos para a Fazenda Pratinha. Uma das águas mais cristalinas que fomos e ainda fizemos a flutuação em uma das suas grutas.
No segundo dia começamos rola Cachoeira do Mosquito. Fácil acesso e altíssima recompensa, uma das minhas cachoeiras favoritas. Ah, e não tem mosquito.
Depois paramos no Vale das Piscinas pra um almoço delicioso ao lado do rio.
E depois fechamos o dia com o por do sol no Pai Inácio.
No terceiro dia fizemos o Marimbus, considerado o Pantanal Baiano e fechamos o dia no Rio Roncador. Rio/Cachoeira lindíssima com várias piscinas naturais.

Day 5: Morro do Castelo
On the fifth day we hiked up to Morro do Castelo.
There is a cave where you can cross the mountain from one side to the other.
Back in the valley we hiked to the house of Dona Linda, where we spent the night.
All videos and photos have been taken during an 8 days tour through the Chapada Diamantina National Park. Chapada Diamantina lies 400km west/inland from Salvador in the Brazilian state of Bahia. One of the main attractions is the Vale do Pati which is considered the best trekking destination in Brazil.

Chapada Diamantina Drone Flight: Rugged, rocky & biodiverse nature preserve known for its waterfalls, caves & former diamond mines. The Chapada Diamantina lies at the center of Bahia State, and forms the northern part of the Espinhaço Mountain Range. It has approximately 38,000 km2 (15,000 sq mi) and encompasses 58 municipalities. Technically this region is considered a part of the caatinga biome, and contains some of its highest elevations, most of it above 500 metres (1,600 ft). The vegetation; a product of the physiographic conditions, is known as cerrado, and consists of rocky plains, dry forests, and caatinga desert vegetation, all of witch harbour a great deal of biodiversity and unique endemisms. The regions is considered to have a Mesotermic climate, of the Cwb type, according to Köppen Climate classifications. It is normally quite cooler than its surrounding areas, with an average annual temperature under 22 °C. The territory of the Chapada Diamantina runs roughly between the cities of Mucugê (13°00′S 41°22′W) to the south, Andaraí (12°48′S 41°20′W) in the southeast, Lençóis (12°33′S 41°23′W) in the northeast, and Palmeiras (12°31′S 41°35′W) in the northwest. This region is named the Serra do Sincorá Ridge. However, the city of Ibicoara, near the southern limits of Chapada Diamantina, is also becoming important. The Sincorá Ridge is North–South oriented and has a length of 160 km and 20 to 30 km of width. It has huge canyons with rivers of brownish waters and several waterfalls. The high altitude grasslands are known locally as Gerais. The trails were once used by miners in their search for diamonds. From Lençóis, one of the most important cities in the area, one can find quite a few ecotourism agencies as well as independent guides. Among the main attractions are the Morro do Pai Inácio (Pai Inácio Hill), Cachoeira da Fumaça, Mixila Waterfall, Sossego Waterfall and the Vale do Pati which is considered the best trekking destination in the country. Rock climbing is a relatively new activity, but is developing quickly as some local and outside climbers are opening more and more routes, mainly in the city of Lençóis and at Vale do Capão, district of Palmeiras and at Igatu, district of Andaraí. Lençóis, one of the main cities, is 428 kilometres (266 mi) from Salvador and can be reached by car, bus or plane. Another important city is Iraquara. It has a lot of caves, where prehistoric rock art and other evidence of primitive life can be found. The Range System has an erosional outlier that exposes a contact, the Pai Inácio Anticline. The Pai Inácio Anticline is 25 km wide and exposes the sedimentary rocks of the Paraguaçu group. At the contact there are two different rock groups exposed one being the Chapada Diamantina and the Paraguaçu, with the Chapada Diamantina overlaying the Paraguaçu group. These two rock formations group not only in elasticity, but in composition as well. The Chapada Diamantina is composed primarily of sandstone, pelites and diamond bearing conglomerates. The Paraguaçu is composed of fine-grained sandstones, siltstones and argillites. The rocks of the Paraguaçu are softer and therefore more susceptible to weathering and folding. It is the folds in the Paraguaçu that allows for the entry of water into the rocks structure which in turn is responsible for the erosion. [wikipedia // Google]

A cachoeira da fumaça fica localizada na comunidade do vale do capão na cidade de Palmeiras á 72 km da cidade de Lençóis, percurso total são 12 km de caminhada ida e volta os 2 primeiros km são os mais difíceis, o percurso em média dura entre 2:00hs á 2:30hs de caminhada até a cachoeira, 6 a 7:00hs de trilha no total.

Chapada Diamantina National Park, once famous for diamond exploration, is now one of the most beautiful parks in Brazil. Its size is actually larger than some European countries like Holland & Belgium. The park is located at 420 kms away from Salvador in the center of Bahia State of Brazil. The Chapada Diamantina National Park was founded in 1985 with a very impressive ecosystem.
If you think of such a huge park, it might come in your mind that there will be uncountable varieties of flora, wildlife, valleys, mountains, caves, natural pools and waterfalls. The park has towers of minerals which are known as “tepuy” as called by the locals. There are plenty of hiking and trekking options to explore the park as it should be.
Chapada Diamantina was once very famous for Gold and Diamond mining and was also known as Diamond Highlands. The ecotourists from around the world love this place. The number of tourists is not as high as it is in the cities of Brazil, but the people who have visited here have fallen in love completely with this place. This park proves that Brazil has so much more to offer other than the cities and beaches.
I personally think that if you are planning to visit this area, at-least plan for a minimum of 3 days trip. Most of you will even regret for not staying for more days. The park has lovely hiking trails, natural crystal-clear water pools, amazing waterfalls, towers of minerals and wonderful places to enjoy the sunsets. There are many wonderful caves founded by the rivers and the east side of the park is famous for wonderful heavy rain falls.

How to Reach Chapada Diamantina National Park
You can reach this amazing park by plane which lands in Lençóis from different cities of Brazil. The flights to Lençóis are mostly expensive as compared to other places. If you want to save some money, then you can choose to reach Lençóis by bus from Salvador which is a 7 hours journey. You can also choose to go to Vale do Capáo as well which will add another hour to your journey.
Once you have reached there, you will have to decide on how much you want to spend on visiting the whole park. There are some options where you can go by bus, but it will be a limited journey. Coming to this wonderland to see only a few limited places won’t feel great. You can hire a car to move around freely and to be able to see a lot of places around. I will try to talk about some more tips which might help you in planning your stay.

On the first day we hiked from the highway near Morro do Pai Inácio to Águas Claras and then to Vale do Capão for the night. The second day we did a dayhike up to Cachoeira da Fumaça and returned to Vale do Capão for a second night.
