Bronx Walk NYC - Exploring in the Soundview Neighborhood, April 2022

Welcome to TEchi World Walk! The Soundview section of the Bronx is new in the annals of my walk exploration. Although, I have been to the area several times it’s my first time exploring it for public consumption. I was also at a Mobil Gas Station on Metcalf Ave operated by Mr. Elvis. He asked me to highlight his gas station as a part of the walk exploration. So, you will see him and the gas station in this walk exploration video. Please subscribe to the channel and click the bell icon to get a notification on new content. And do not forget to like a lot and comment to help the channel grow. Thanks. #soundview #thebronx #techiworldwalk

Bronx Walk NYC - Exploring East 170 St., Crotona Ave & More Jan 5, 2022

Welcome! I started this walk from East 170 Street toward Crotona Park. Crotona Park is a large public park in the South Bronx, I explored through it to Crotona Avenue. The park was practically empty! Maybe because of the weather, it was cloudy and drizzling a bit. I had incredible walk exploring Claremont neighborhood ending it by coming back to East 169th Street, close to number 4 Subway line on Jerome Ave. Watch this video to experience with me virtually the neighborhood vibes. Please do not forget to subscribe, like and comment. Thanks. TEchi World Walk. #croton #southbronx #park

Grant Park
Grant Park, used by the students at nearby Public School 88, is a multi-use space renovated with funding from the mitigation of the Croton Filtration Plant.
Named for Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States, Grant Park features a playground with a climbing area, a spray shower, swings, benches, and a large lawn, making the park a multi-use space for the entire community.
Grant Park may be best known as the home of the nearby Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary, a haven for birds that migrate each year.

Crotona Park
Crotona Park is a public park in the South Bronx in New York City, covering 127.5 acres (51.6 ha). The park is bounded by streets of the same name on its northern, eastern, southern, and western borders, and is adjacent to the Crotona Park East and Morrisania neighborhoods of the Bronx. It is divided into four portions by Claremont Parkway and Crotona Avenue, which run through it.

Bronx Walk NYC - Exploring Fulton Ave, Crotona Park & More, August 2021

I found myself walking on the old familiar turf, that is East 169 Street, toward Fulton Ave and Crotona Park East. I have driven past Crotona Park, but this is the first time entering the park. I am not exploring the entire park but to show you part of this park in the South Bronx. Bronx is the only borough with more outdoor parks for activities than any other borough of New York City. Crotona Park has even public swimming pool with good facility to go with it. Crotona Park has several entrances, mostly on Fulton Ave. Walk with me as you watch this video to experience the incredible neighborhood. Please subscribe if you are new, like and comment. Thanks. TEchi World Walk.

Walking PARK OF EDGE WATER Neighborhood (The Bronx)

wikepedia : Edgewater Park once housed a mansion built by George T. Adee in 1856. He eventually leased the land to an Irish immigrant who was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Morrisania and invited church youth to camp on the grounds which became known as Edgewater Camp. Campsites eventually developed into bungalows and by around 1918 a full-fledged bungalow had developed along the coast areas while other sections remained farmland and grazing land. Ruts from early auto traffic became roads. After World War I the community was divided into sections A, B, C, after the names of Army camps; D and E Sections were added later. In 1954, Shaw died. By this time, Edgewater Camp had become a community of full-time residents and became known as Park of Edgewater or Edgewater Park.[2] The community became a co-op in 1988.[1]

FDNY Engine 291 returning to Quarters Queens NY

FDNY engine 291 in Ridgewood, Queens returning to its headquarters at night is my latest #shorts video.

The New York City Fire Department, officially the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY), is an American department of the government of New York City that provides fire protection, technical rescue services, primary response to biological, chemical, and radioactive hazards, and emergency medical services responses to the five boroughs of New York City.

The New York City Fire Department is the largest municipal fire department in the United States, and the second largest in the world after the Tokyo Fire Department. The FDNY employs approximately 10,951 uniformed firefighting employees, 4,274 uniformed EMS employees, and 2,096 civilian employees. Its regulations are compiled in title 3 of the New York City Rules. The FDNY's motto is New York's Bravest for fire, and New York's Best for EMS. The FDNY serves more than 8.5 million residents within a 302 square mile area.

The FDNY headquarters is located at 9 MetroTech Center in Downtown Brooklyn,[10] and the FDNY Fire Academy is located on Randalls Island. The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) locals are 94 and 854. EMS is represented by DC 37 Locals 2507 for EMT’s and Paramedics and Local 3621 for officers.

Like most fire departments of major cities in the United States, the New York City Fire Department is organized in a paramilitary fashion, and in many cases, echoes the structure of the police department. The department's executive staff is divided into two areas that include a civilian Fire Commissioner who serves as the head of the department and a Chief of Department who serves as the operational leader. The current Fire Commissioner is Daniel A. Nigro, who succeeded Salvatore J. Cassano in June 2014. The executive staff includes several civilian deputy commissioners who are responsible for the many administrative bureaus within the department, along with the Chief of Department, Chief of Fire Operations, Chief of EMS, Chief Fire Marshal, Chief of Training and other staff chiefs. Staff chiefs include the seven citywide tour commanders, the Chief of Fire Prevention, and the Chief of Safety.

Operationally and geographically, the department is organized into five borough commands for each of the five Boroughs of New York City. Each borough command has a borough commander. For Manhattan, this commander is an Assistant Chief, whereas each of the other four borough commanders are deputy assistant chiefs. Within those five borough commands exists nine firefighting divisions, each of which are headed by a deputy chief, who also has several deputy chiefs to help run the division when the deputy chief is not on duty. Within each division are four to seven battalions, each led by a battalion chief. The lead battalion chief for the battalion is the battalion commander and the others are battalion chiefs. Each battalion consists of three to eight firehouses and consists of approximately 180–200 firefighters and officers. Each firehouse consists of one to three fire companies. Each fire company is led by a captain, who commands three lieutenants and twelve to twenty firefighters. Tours can be either night tours (6 p.m. – 9 a.m.) or day tours (9 a.m. – 6 p.m.). Under a swapping system called “mutuals”, most firefighters combine tours and work a 24-hour shift, followed by three days off. In one tour or shift, each company is commanded by an officer (lieutenant or captain) and is made up of four to five firefighters for engine companies, five firefighters for ladder companies, rescue companies, or squad companies, and six firefighters for the hazardous materials company.

The FDNY faces highly multifaceted firefighting challenges in many ways unique to New York. In addition to responding to building types that range from wood-frame single family homes to high-rise structures, there are many secluded bridges and tunnels, the New York City Subway system, as well as large parks and wooded areas that can give rise to brush fires.

The FDNY also responds to many other incidents such as auto accidents, auto extrications, gas emergencies, entrapments, construction accidents, high-angle rescues, trench rescues, confined space incidents, explosions, transit incidents, unstable buildings or collapses, hazardous materials incidents, medical emergencies and many more.
