Explore Mackay Marina
The Mackay Marina has a lovely tropical ambience with leafy palm trees lining the waterfront walking track, overlooking the luxury yachts. The Marina is home to the Pine Islet Lighthouse. This lighthouse was built in 1885 and used until 1985; it was the last operating kerosene lighthouse in Australia.
Enjoy Views from Lamberts Lookout
Lamberts Lookout offers fantastic views over Lamberts Beach, the Cumberland Islands and Slade Point. During whale migration season, it is a popular place to see and watch the whales. There are several information boards along the lookout.
Day Trip to Spot a Platypus
The Broken River in the Eungella National National Park, 85 kilometres from Mackay, is one of the best places in Australia to spot a platypus. We saw one swimming near the main viewing platform at 8:00 a.m. The National Park also has several lovely walks, a cafe and picnic areas.
Discover Bluewater Lagoon
Bluewater Lagoon is a free, family-friendly leisure facility in Mackay. Located in the heart of Mackay overlooking the Pioneer River, the lagoon has three tiered lagoon-style swimming pools with a waterslide, splash play area, cafe and picnic areas.
See the Fifth Lane Murals
Fifth Lane is located in the heart of the City centre and has a colourful collection of street art, murals and community art, creating an interesting outdoor art gallery. Enjoy wandering down Fifth Avenue and admiring these colourful artworks.
Enjoy Bucasia Beach
Bucasia Beach is located in the Northern Beaches area of Mackay and is one of the region's most popular beaches. It is four kilometres long and a popular spot for walking, swimming and fishing. It is a pet-friendly beach with a designated off-leash area between Williams Avenue and Symons Avenue
Explore Finch Hatton Gorge
Finch Hatton Gorge is located 70 kilometres from Mackay and is home to two lovely waterfalls, Araluen Cascades and the Wheel of Fire. Enjoy a hike through the sub-tropical rainforest and stop for a refreshing swim in one of the stunning natural swimming pools. The return walk to both waterfalls is five kilometres.
Discover the Botanic Gardens
Mackay’s Botanic Gardens opened in 2003 and is one of the youngest Botanic Gardens in Australia. It has a cafe overlooking the wetland lagoon, beautiful native and exotic plants and more than 3 kilometres of walking and cycling tracks around the gardens. It also has a lovely cafe and gift shop.
Visit the Sarina Sugar Shed
The Sarina Sugar Shed is open from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., seven days a week; they also have a fully stocked retail store and a lovely cafe. Book a guided tour through the mini replica mill, where you will learn all about sugar production, from how the sugar cane is grown to how it is refined. Sarina is located 38 km's from Mackay.
Mackay Heritage Walk
Mackay has a lovely selection of heritage buildings, including the Town Hall, built in 1912, this was one of the few buildings that survived the 1918 cyclone. This cyclone destroyed 80% of the buildings in the city, and when they were rebuilt, many were built in Art Deco style, and now Mackay has the best collection of Art Deco buildings in Queensland.

Thought id look back at my last 10 years living and working on a mine site in Australia.
Here's a little tour of my camp and a brief look at work, unfortunately can’t she w too much at work due to security issues and work contract but little view into my world.
At the end of the video is some of the photos I love from my time here, the Pilbara can be a harsh hot desolate place with temps from 1 deg c up to mid 50 deg c in summer.
But as you can see here can also be a place of beauty !

Qantaslink B717 - Sydney to Gold Coast Economy Class
Qantaslink recently took over from Qantas the Saturday night return trip from Sydney to the Gold Coast. I just so happened to be booked on it the second week the service operated. I love the B717 so I was really happy with the change.
The video will show you the entire flight experience including some amazing views of Sydney Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and Opera House soon after takeoff in the sunset. Just amazing.

This flight was from Bundaberg to Brisbane, and then Brisbane to Sydney.
I'm just going to show you how small Bundaberg airport is, and what it is like flying the Dash 8 Q-400 by Qantaslink.
Bundaberg is a nice country town, good to drive around and a good place to stop over. You can check out their sugar cane farms and their surrounding beaches. It is also home to Bundaberg Rum. A video about Bundaberg town will be coming soon, please stay tuned for it.

A JOURNEY HOME | ROAD TRIP FROM BRISBANE TO MACKAY | THE LONG WAY
Back in August, we went on a road trip from Brisbane to Mackay.
If you take the highway, it's about 1000km and 12 hours from start to finish.
We took the scenic route and did roughly 1700km and it took us eight days.
This short film is very different to anything we have done before, and we have the Overland Film Fest to thank for that. Unfortunately, we didn't make the finals, but we learnt a lot in the process of the making of this short film.

Flying on a QantasLink Q300 to the volcanic South East
Discover what it's like to fly on on a QantasLink Q300 from Adelaide to the regional city of Mount Gambier. The comparatively low altitude of turboprop aircraft affords great views over the scenic and very green South East of South Australia. The approach to Mount Gambier is over the area of Australia's most recent volcanic activity, including Valley Lake (the Blue Lake is on the opposite side of the aircraft).
Qantas commenced flights between Adelaide and Mount Gambier in March 2021, providing competition on a route previously only served by Rex Airlines.
This video also includes a near empty Adelaide Airport, with barely a passenger in sight. Hopefully that will change in the coming months.
