Au seuil de Rennes, Châteaugiron fait partie des séduisantes Petites Cités de Caractère® . Son centre-ville est fièrement signalé par les hautes tours d’un château médiéval. Sa prospérité historique se lit encore au fil des nombreuses maisons de marchands aux pans de bois colorés.
Monument-phare de Châteaugiron, le château a été construit au 11e siècle pour défendre la capitale bretonne.
Au Moyen-Âge, de nombreuses maisons viennent se blottir auprès des tours du château. Le commerce y est florissant, porté par la production de toile à voile : les Noyales. Une balade dans les rues du centre-ville vous mène à l’adresse de ces marchands toiliers.
Autour du centre historique restauré, aménagé et mis en valeur se sont créées selon un plan rationnel d'urbanisation périphérique des zones d'habitation, des zones d’équipements scolaires et sportifs, des zones d'activités économiques.
La création d'un vaste étang, l'aménagement d'espaces verts, les plantations réalisées à travers la commune lui ont également valu le label de station verte de vacances.

Nous sommes Julien et Marie avec nos 3 enfants, Manon 12 ans, Alicya 8 ans et Alex 4 ans.
Nous avons décidé de sortir du quotidien qui nous enferme et de profiter de la vie.
Julien était conducteur d’engins et Marie Ingénieur dans une société de travaux de dépollution. Nous avons tout vendu et décidé de quitter la vie métro, boulot, dodo, pour partir voir le monde.
En juillet 2017 nous avons acheté un ancien camion 4x4 militaire de l’armée allemande (MAN KAT) sur lequel nous avons posé une caisse frigo que nous avons aménagée.
Notre objectif faire Ushuaïa-Alaska. Nous sommes partis en Novembre 2019 pour l’Amérique du Sud, après être passés par l'Uruguay, le Brésil et le Paraguay, la pandémie nous a stoppé en Argentine. Nous visitons depuis ce beaux pays en attendant l'ouverture des frontières pour poursuivre l'aventure. La durée ? Le plus longtemps possible!

La commune d'Auray s'est fondée autour de son port de cabotage, celui de Saint-Goustan, qui permettait de se rendre autrefois jusqu'en Espagne et en Grande-Bretagne. Elle se développe au fil des siècles avec son château, ancienne motte castrale du IXe siècle, devenant ainsi le lieu de débarquement de l'américain Benjamin Franklin en 1776, lorsqu'il vint en France demander le soutien du roi dans la guerre d'indépendance des futurs Etats-Unis d'Amérique.
C'est aussi à Auray qu'est né Georges Cadoudal, le chef de la chouannerie bretonne.
Aujourd'hui encore, Auray est une commune pleine de charme appréciée par les visiteurs pour ses activités touristiques, autant que pour son patrimoine qui témoigne d'une histoire riche et passionnante.

La forêt de Brocéliande est une forêt mythique imaginée par Chrétien de Troyes à la fin du 12e siècle. Dans son roman arthurien le « Chevalier au lion », il invente cette forêt des merveilles en s’inspirant d’une forêt de petite Bretagne connue pour ses légendes et autres récits merveilleux, « Bréchéliant ». Aujourd’hui, c’est en Forêt de Paimpont que se perpétue le mythe de cette forêt magique.

Rennes is the capital city of Brittany, northwest France. It's known for its medieval half-timbered houses and grand Rennes Cathedral. Parc du Thabor includes a rose garden and aviary. South of the Vilaine river, the Musée des Beaux-arts displays works by Botticelli, Rubens and Picasso. The Champs Libres cultural center houses the Musée de Bretagne (Brittany Museum) and Espace des Sciences, featuring a planetarium.
Rennes is not often mentioned on tourist guides but this medium size town is well worth a visit. It has more than 200,000 inhabitants, of whom about 60,000 are students. This gives the town a vibrant nightlife. Some streets, such as the Rue Saint Michel, have only bars on both sides. (The locals actually call Rue Saint Michel la rue de la soif, which means Street of Thirst). A stroll down Rue Saint Michel on a Friday or Saturday evening is a very interesting experience indeed. However, if you're really in the mood to faire la fête, celebrate or just have fun in other words, the most exciting night on Rue de la Soif would be the Jeudi Soir, Thursday nights, during the school year. Jeudi Soir is the night when bars are most often packed to the brim with students. The sights on Thursday nights out on the town are very memorable and interesting.
Rennes is particularly nice in early July, during the Festival des Tombées de la Nuit. Its streets are then full of people enjoying the free street entertainment and eating or drinking at the terraces of the restaurants and cafés. Rennes used to be virtually empty after the 15th of July, as most of its inhabitants were migrating to the coast until the 15th August. In recent years, this trend seems to have stopped and Rennes's terraces and cafes are now bustling throughout the year.
One highlight of Rennes, if you're after natural beauty and tranquility, is the Thabor. This park has a stunning collection of plantlife, including a large bed of hundreds of species of roses, tropical, African and European trees, other beautiful and rare plants, and offers the traveller a chance to see some budgies. While I'm using my own experience on planning my Haute Route trekking adventure through Switzerland as an example, you can plan any hiking adventure with these tips - including treks through Austria, The Tour of Mont Blanc, the Alpine Pass Route, and routes through the Italian Dolomites. There are beautiful hiking routes through France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany! Simply choosing one may be your most difficult decision!
In fact, the first six legs of the Tour of Mont Blanc are shared with the Haute Route! We met numerous people completing the Tour of Mont Blanc when we began hiking in Chamonix and through to Champex, so if you're hiking the Tour of Mont Blanc, this is a great place to start.
