Coimbra é uma cidade e um município português, sendo capital da Região de Coimbra, da Região do Centro e do Distrito de Coimbra. Tem uma área urbana de 94,65 km2, 99.792 habitantes em 2021 e uma denisdade populacional de 1.054 habitantes por km2, sendo a oitava maior cidade do país.
É sede do município de Coimbra, tendo uma extensão de 319,40 km2, 140.796 habitantes em 2021 e uma denisdade populacional de 441 habitantes por km2, dividindo-se em 18 freguesias. O município é limitado a norte pelo município da Mealhada, a leste pelos municípios de Penacova, Vila Nova de Poiares e Miranda do Corvo, a sul pelo município da Condeixa-a-Nova, a oeste pelo município de Montemor-o-Velho e a noroeste pelo município de Cantanhede.
Coimbra é uma cidade historicamente universitária, por causa da Universidade de Coimbra, uma das mais antigas da Europa e das maiores de Portugal, fundada em 1290 como Estudo Geral Português por D. Dinis em Lisboa que depois várias instalações nas duas cidades, se fixou definitivamente na cidade do Mondego em 1537. Na história recente a população estudantil da Universidade teve um papel importante ao ser ativamente defensora dos valores da liberdade e democracia frente à ditadura do Estado Novo. Uma das cidades mais antigas do país, foi a capital de Portugal antes de Lisboa, até 1255, e nela está o primeiro Panteão Nacional, o Mosteiro de Santa Cruz.
Coimbra é atravessada pelo rio Mondego, que nasce na Serra da Estrela, no sentido Este-Oeste.
É considerada uma das mais importantes cidades portuguesas, devido a infraestruturas, organizações e empresas nela instaladas para além da sua importância histórica e privilegiada posição geográfica no centro de Portugal continental, entre as cidades de Lisboa e do Porto. Ao nível de serviços oferecidos, é acima de tudo no ensino e nas tecnologias ligadas à saúde que a cidade consegue maior notoriedade.A população estudantil da cidade ronda os 37 mil matriculados, parte no ensino superior público não politécnico, parte no ensino superior público politécnico e parte no ensino superior privado.
O feriado municipal ocorre a 4 de Julho, em memória da rainha Santa Isabel de Aragão, padroeira da cidade conhecida popularmente apenas por rainha santa. Foi Capital Nacional da Cultura em 2003. No dia 22 de Junho de 2013, a Universidade de Coimbra, Alta e Sofia, foi declarada Património Mundial pela UNESCO.

This is the video that shows the cottage that we spent to weeks at in Portugal. A winery, vineyard in Central Portugal. There is a Manor house and apartments/ accommodation to rent on the property. It was very private and had a porch looking onto the vineyards, there was also a pretty private pool.

Three bedroom property for renovation located in a hamlet 10 minutes north of Miranda do Corvo.
Three bedroom property for renovation located in a hamlet 10 minutes north of the town of Miranda do Corvo in the district of Coimbra.
First floor:
The property has 5 rooms on the first floor, one of which is an old rustic kitchen with bread oven. The central corridor has a door that opens onto the front terrace with stairs to the courtyard. The first floor rear door opens onto a small terrace with stairs leading to the barns and land. The property does not have a bathroom but there are mains sewage pipes not too far away that the new owner could connect to.
Ground floor:
This is an open-plan area with doors to the front and rear of the property. It is an area that could easily be turned into extra living space.
Exterior:
The small front courtyard is accessed via the tarmac lane that runs past the chapel just a few metres away from the property. At the rear of the house are gates that lead to the barns, small orchard and approximately 600m2 of arable land in a private location.
The roof of the property was renewed a few years ago and mains water and electricity can easily be connected.
The property is in a nice hamlet made up of approximately 15 dwellings and is just ten minutes from the town of Miranda and all amenties.

Top 5 Towns in Portugal
Join us on our travel adventures around Portugal! We take you to some of the top towns in central Portugal that just blew us away! These TOP 5 towns should definitely be on your radar on your next trip to Portugal.

We start off with one of our favourite towns in Portugal: Óbidos. Cobblestone streets, a medieval castle, and stone walls that you can walk along? This town has it all! Óbidos is also an easy day trip from Lisbon even without a car.
Next up, Batalha! Batalha Monastery is the main highlight of this town. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Batalha Monastery is the most important Portuguese gothic building and quite a prominent one in the Iberian Peninsula and Europe.
After our time in Óbidos and Batalha, we take you to our third destination: Tomar. Tomar was the religious home of the Knights Templar and currently houses the Convento de Cristo (Convent of Christ) - an expansive religious complex, regarded as one of Portugal’s finest national monuments and chief works of the Portuguese Renaissance.
After Tomar, we visited the beautiful town of Coimbra. Coimbra is Portugal's former capital, is home to a preserved medieval old town, and the historic University of Coimbra. Considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the University of Coimbra is actually the oldest university in all of Portugal and the seventh oldest university in the world.
Lastly, we visited the beautiful town of Monsanto. Monsanto is perched on top of a hill and is interlaced with massive boulders, many of which have been excavated or combined into some of the houses in the town. The panoramic views from atop Monsanto Castle is definitely a must! Monsanto is also one of twelve official Historical Villages of Portugal!
