If you’re seeking a vacation with sun, surf, and sultry evenings out on the town, the things to do in Nice, France will have you sorted. Located on the shores of the Mediterranean in the aptly named French Riviera, Nice sports that rare combination of ancient history, casual beach days, and luxury lifestyle. But once you’re there, is there anything to actually do beside lying on the beach soaking up the summer sun?

If you’re a fan of views, take some time out to climb up Castle Hill–one of the most popular things to do in Nice, France. This lookout spot, which towers over Nice, was once the site of a castle. That’s gone now, but it’s fortified walls and a cathedral still remain. There’s a viewing platform at the top and landscaped grounds replete with a man made waterfall. And if you don’t want to or can’t walk up, you can take the elevator. Other historical spots worth visiting are the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral, built for the Russian community of Nice in 1912, and of course the Old Town and Old Port.

If beaches are among your list of things to do in Nice, France (why else are you in Nice in the summer, right?), then try to avoid the main beaches. Instead, we recommend going where the locals lay their towels. La Reserve and Coco Beach are both tiny, rock-lined bays with azure waters, perfect for snorkeling and jumping off the rocks into the ocean. For sunbathing, head to Plage Beau Rivage. It’s a private beach, so you’ll be guaranteed your own sun lounger and parasol once you pay admission. Grab lunch at the excellent oceanside restaurants there, too.

This is just a sample of the things to do in Nice, France, for visitors worldwide. There are countless more day trips, promenades, and architectural marvels in the area. So if you want to build your Nice bucket list, watch on for more inspiration. If you liked this video, give it a thumbs up and share it. When most people hear the name Bordeaux, they naturally think of wine. As well they should since the region produces some of the finest wines in the world. But the city of Bordeaux is much more than that! It’s a charming and gorgeous place, full of incredible architecture, historical sites, great food, and fun activities. In this video, we’re taking a look at some of the best things to do in this excellent French city. We talk about some of the most well known and popular sites, like the Place de Quincones and Port Cailhau. These are the types of places you’ll often see when you come across photos of Bordeaux. And they are of course totally worth seeing.

If you’re planning to visit, we highly recommend spending a day or two hitting up these sites, to get a feel for the history of the city, and the vibe. But we also recommend taking a bike tour around the city, since it’s such an excellent way to explore it at a gradual pace. We also cover a few outside-of-the-box suggestions for after you’ve done some of the more touristy things. These include hitting up the one and only whisky distillery in the city, and going ice karting, which is basically like go-karting, but on ice. And of course, you should definitely hit up the world’s largest reflecting pool, both for some incredible photos and to cool off if you’re there during hotter months. So check out this video today, as Viewcation presents: Best Things to Do in Bordeaux, France!

What to Do in Nimes and Avignon? | France Travel Guide

Join us on our trip to France where we travel to the historic cities of Nîmes, Avignon, Arles, and Orange located in southern France, and hold some of the best preserved examples of ancient Roman architecture and history.

In Episode 11 of our Eurotrip 2020 series, we feature highlights of our trip around the southern France region starting with a morning visit to the city of Nîmes where we explore the various Roman architecture and historic sites throughout the city including the Arena of Nîmes, Maison Carrée, and the Temple de Diane located in the beautiful Les Jardins de la Fontaine.

We stop for a few hours at the famous Pont du Gard, a UNESCO site and one of the best preserved examples of Roman architecture, specifically of an aqueduct bridge, in the world. The views here are so lovely!

We based ourselves in the city of Avignon, known for the historic Palais des Papes, a historical palace and fortress in southern France, which was once the seat of Western Christianity! From here we explored the city of Arles which contains several examples of Roman architecture collectively referred to as the Roman and Romanesque Monuments of Arles, all listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Lastly, we visited the city of Orange which contains of the the best preserved examples of all Roman theatres. These cities are a short distance away from Avignon, so definitely recommend staying here for a few days.

The capital of Tahiti is known as Papeete, and you’ll certainly be spending some time there while you’re on the island. Taking a walk through the capital can provide visitors with some unique sights, and there’s also the Papeete Market that offers tourists and locals alike plentiful amounts of unique and local food and wares. The Papeete Market is one of the best places to go looking for Tahitian pearls to take home as a souvenir, and also to grab some food!

If you want to experience Tahiti’s coasts, the easiest way to do so is by driving along the road that encircles the entire island along them. This road is only 70 miles long, but it may take you several hours to traverse it due to the predominantly low speeds of drivers in the area. Top 10 Places to Visit in Suriname

???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

Back in July of 2019, I spent 11 amazing days traveling around the diverse South American country of Suriname. These are the top 10 places you must visit in Suriname!

1. Paramaribo
Suriname’s capital and largest city. It’s a cosmopolitan melting pot where you can find a rich, colonial past and cuisines that range from Chinese to African to Indonesian to Indian to Dutch. You can also find accommodations for every budget!

2. Tamanredjo
A small town between Paramaribo and Albina. Most of its people are Javanese, and you can find incredible Indonesian chicken, fried banana, rice, and beans, at Warung Lenny’s restaurant in town.

3. Galibi
A small village located at the meeting place of the Maroni River and the Atlantic Ocean. There, you can find lots of outstanding seafood and, between February and June, you can find nesting sea turtles!

4. Brownsweg/Ston Eiland
A town about 80 miles south of Paramaribo, near Brownsberg Nature Park and the Brokopondo Reservoir. The reservoir and surrounding forest offers jungle treks, Howler Monkey Island, and fishing for piranha, and you can find Surinamese barbecue in town!

5. Atjoni
A tiny port village that provides transportation to villages along the Upper Surinamese river. Here, you can grab some Indonesian-inspired food at the riverside restaurant and take a boat ride to Isadou Island.

6. Isadou Island
A small river island in the Upper Suriname River that is home to the Isadou Resort. You can also enjoy delicious jungle food, take treks in the forest, take a dip in the river, search for caiman at night, and visit nearby Jaw Jaw village!

7. Browns-Mountain
A 500-meter-tall mountain in Brownsberg Nature Reserve near Brokopondo Reservoir. From its summit, you can enjoy views of the reservoir and hike to two different jungle waterfalls.

8. Palumeu
A tiny village along the Tapanahony River deep in Suriname’s interior. Take a hike through the jungle to Poti Hill, explore the primary and secondary forests, go fishing in the river rapids, and visit the village!

9. Lelydorp
A mostly Javanese village along the main road leading south from Paramaribo. It’s a great place to find unique handicrafts and Indonesian-inspired street food like lumpia, satay, chicken sausage, and boiled vegetables with spicy peanut sauce!

10. Johanna-Margaretha
An area east of Paramaribo near the meeting place of the Suriname and Commewijne Rivers. Watch the pink-bellied dolphins at sunset and have an Indian dinner at the Johanna en Margaretha plantation before heading out into the swamp to look for caimans at night!

And there you have it! Those are the top 10 places you must visit in Suriname. This country is so unbelievably diverse in terms of culture and food, and is also a gorgeous country that is largely untouched and unknown to most. You will love it!

★ 4K ???????? la Côte Bleue cab ride, Miramas - Marseille, France [08.2021]

Welcome to another journey along the coastline of southern France, this time on the famous and scenic Côte Bleue line.
The line was built as an alternative route to the classic Paris - Marseille line (PLM) from Miramas to L’Estaque. From there, we will be taking a route usually only used by freight trains (with the exception of the Miramas - Marseille service), passing through Marseille's marshalling yard and past the port station.
One thing I'm impressed with is the number of viaducts, bridges and tunnels that are maintained just to keep the few trains that run here in operation.
The connection line to the port (1:07:08) has apparently recently been renewed, but has since been closed due to a political decision (see the blockade in place).
