From the Joliet Union Station to the Rialto Square Theater to the gloriously detailed Collegiate Gothic stonework of Joliet Township High School (now Joliet Central), downtown Joliet is a wonder. Jacob Henry Mansion and its accompanying church/banquet hall can be seen from the train platform. Many of the buildings you'll see here (also Chicago's Water Tower and Springfield, IL's Old State Capitol Building) were constructed with Joliet's native limestone.
And at lunchtime, Joliet Rte. 66 Diner, a half block west of the Rialto Theater, has a full menu of all the diner meals you remember from your childhood, if you're over 60. And if you've never been in a diner, it's an experience! Save room for dessert.

Hiking the Illinois & Michigan Canal trail with Drone Shots Channahon, IL
Hiking the Illinois & Michigan Canal trail starting in Channahon, Illinois for seven mile put and back. Small part of the sixty-one mile trail. The name Channahon is a Native American word for the meeting of the waters. Four rivers including the DuPage, DesPlaines, Kankakee, and Illinois River flow through this area, plus the I&M Canal. The day was March 3 after a brutal February of snow and cold. The trail was not ideal for walking due to the mud, left over ice and snow, and areas of standing water. If you don’t mind getting your feet wet it was ok. I went on a Wednesday and was alone on the trail.
I launched my DJI Mavic Mini drone along the canal and DesPlaine river. I used my DJI OM4 Gimbal with my iPhone 11 for photos and videos.
Witnessed a large barge and two swans. Many ducks along the waterway. Visited McKinley Woods Loop. Trail took me by the canal lock, spill way dam, and over bridges. Also, took a detour off the trail for a walk in the woods designated for snow mobiles.

I took these shots as I strolled around the business district of old Minooka, Illinois.
As you can see the downtown has been reconstructed and looks very appealing.
There are many great restaurants and bars in this quaint little town located 43 miles southwest of Chicago. Come by and visit you won't be disappointed.

In this 4K Ultra HD dash cam video, I drive from the state line of Michigan and Indiana through Indiana into the southern Chicago area. I then continue on I-94 past the I-90/80 and I-65 interchanges until it exits north into Chicago and then onto I-294 (start of the Illinois Tollway). Then I follow I-294 until I-80 splits off and then continue on I-80 through the I-57, I-355, and I-55 interchanges until I stop for gas in Minooka Illinois.

We begin this video on I-294 as we exit the tristate tollway and continue west on I-80. After passing I-57's interchange with I-80, we will drive through some southern suburbs of Chicago, passing by I-355 and entering the city of Joliet and crossing the Des Plaines River, which is where this video will end.
