The Cheapest Place in Sydney to Buy Fresh Produce and other Food Products
The Sydney Markets are a group of wholesale and retail markets in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The Sydney Markets are located in the Inner West locality of Flemington, New South Wales, 16 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district. Flemington is part of the suburb of Homebush West, in the local government area of the Municipality of Strathfield. The market is the primary distribution hub of fresh produce, flowers and other food products for Sydney. The market has a wholesale sales section that caters to larger businesses and general sales to the public. The market is the central marketplace for Sydney's farmers to sell their products. It has a history dating back to 1788.
FAIRFIELD Sydney Australia Walking Tour | Fairfield NSW Australia
Fairfield is a western suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Being in the centre of the Cumberland Plain, Fairfield is located 23 kilometres (14 mi) west of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative centre for the local government area of the City of Fairfield – Although a very small portion of it is part of the Cumberland Council. Fairfield supports a mixture of commercial and residential developments, mostly characterised by medium-density buildings and some new high-rise apartments.
Fairfield is one of the most multicultural and culturally diverse cities in Australia, with more than half of the residents having been born overseas, mostly in non-English speaking countries. The majority of the suburb's dwellers speak a language other than English at home, with the two most common ones being Arabic and Assyrian Neo-Aramaic. Fairfield is an ethnic enclave of Assyrian Christians (mostly from Iraq, and much recently Syria) and other Iraqis of various religious and ethnic origins.
Fairfield consists of a combination of main street retail centred in Smart and Ware Streets, arcade and larger shopping centres, with a variety of activities including retail, café/restaurant/take away foods, supermarkets (with some displayed in a bazaar-style environment), personal services and commercial uses. Although most of these commercial precincts are not a leading part of Fairfield's night time attribute at present, wedding receptions, however, do prevail night activity on the weekends. A couple of shop fronts along The Crescent are in the Federation and Art Deco style, which date from the late 1890s to 1920s, respectively, reflecting its former role as an early main street.
Fairfield has three shopping malls which were established between the 1980s and early 1990s: Fairfield Forum, Neeta City and Fairfield Chase. The former two are larger and have been refurbished a few times in recent years. The latter has had no refurbishment works undertaken since 1998 and has a vacancy rate of approximately 40%. Forum contains Kmart, Aldi and Coles. Neeta City features a Woolworths supermarket.
Fairfield railway station is on the Inner West & Leppington and Cumberland lines of the Sydney Trains network. Trains run frequently from Fairfield to Leppington, Parramatta and the City Circle. Fairfield also has a major bus interchange adjacent to the railway station.

Merrylands is a suburb in Western Sydney, Australia. Merrylands is located 25 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is in the local government area of the Cumberland City Council.
History
Merrylands was named after the former English home of Arthur Todd Holroyd (1806–1887), who acquired land in this area in 1855 and who gave his name to the adjoining suburb of Holroyd.[citation needed]
Commercial area
Merrylands has a commercial area around Merrylands railway station in Merrylands Road, which mainly feature art deco style of buildings constructed in the 1930s and 1940s and is ornamented by a couple of London planetrees. Stockland Merrylands is a shopping centre with supermarkets, discount department stores and specialty shops.[1]
Transport
The Merrylands railway station is on the Old Main South. There is unlimited parking for commuters. It is on the bus route from Liverpool to Parramatta. Main transport corridors of Woodville Rd (Parramatta-Hume Hwy, Western Motorway M4 (Mountains to the sea). Other main roads include Coleman St (to Westmead Hospital), Hawkesview Rd (rail overbridge to Woodville Rd), Neil St (rail overbridge to Woodville Rd), Pitt St (to Parramatta), Lois St and Excelsior St (to Granville).
Churches
There are a number of churches in Merrylands, including Merrylands East Presbyterian Church, St Margaret Mary's Catholic Church, Merrylands Anglican Church, Merrylands Baptist Church, Merrylands Uniting Church, Merrylands Presbyterian Church, an Evangelical church and C3 Church Merrylands.
St Raphael's Slovenian Catholic Church
There is also a Heritage Catholic Micro-Cathedral in honour of Saint Raphael the Arch-Angel on the corner of Warwick Road and Merrylands Road, which was not only the first and only Church in Merrylands but also one of the most uniquely designed in Western Sydney being a conventional-modern-neo-Gothic design. The Church of St Raphael was conceived by Fr. Valerijan Jenko, OFM, OAM then soon to be completed and consecrated in 1973, by assistant bishop Dr. Stanislav Lenič from Ljubljana, Slovenija (previously Yugoslavia). The next building project was the church hall. Completed in 1983 the hall became the centre of lively cultural activities.[2]

Today we’re visiting LAZZA having some iconic Filipino food dishes like Kare Kare, Sisig, Halo Halo and Sinigang. I lost count of how many comments I got telling me to come to Lazza in my last Sydney Filipino Food tour video, and I’m glad I did because the food was great and Raff told me it tasted authentic, so thank you guys for the suggestion!
I also went to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Auburn West Sydney over the weekend. The botanical garden is open all year round with free entry, but this event needed tickets to get in. There were a lot of people, but I still enjoyed it with the food trucks and of course, the cherry blossom trees. It’ll have to do until I visit Japan again…

Tour of WENTWORTHVILLE NSW - Little India | Asian Places in Sydney |
Part 9 - this time round I'm visiting Wentworthville NSW. It's a very quiet place with a large Indian population. So I wanted to confirm if it were the case, and what it's like. I'd say it's a decent place to start life around in Australia, but to also get Indian food in the area. Overall would come here to live in an apartment in this area. It's close to Parramatta and within reasonable distance to Strathfield and the CBD. Check it out for yourself if you want.
