The memorial was created to commemorate the Little Rock Nine, which is the name given to a group of nine African-American children that are credited with ending segregation at the local Little Rock Central High School. I know when you think of cool places to visit Little Rock may not be the first place that comes to mind but honestly if you live anywhere in the area or are an outdoor enthusiast it should be.
Little Rock, Arkansas sits on the banks of the Arkansas River located in the center of the state. And with a population of nearly 200,000 people, it's the largest city in Arkansas and definitely the place to find a good time at a great value.
Go actually find the “Little rock” little rock is named after. This can be found in La Petite Roche Plaza in Riverfront Park on the Arkansas River. Such a great place for kids to explore with a park that incorporates its surroundings into the playground and sights that will put a smile on everyone's face. (Free)
The arts flourish in Little Rock, Arkansas with the gallery at the Arkansas Arts Center, offering free admission and housing one of the most-acclaimed collections of works on paper in the country. (Free)
The Big Dam Bridge spans the Arkansas River and Murray Lock and Dam between Little Rock and North Little Rock and is open only to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, which is awesome if you love getting away from traffic like we do.. At 4,226 feet in length it is the longest pedestrian/bicycle bridge in North America that has never been used by trains or motor vehicles. (Free)
MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. Located in the historic Tower Building of the Little Rock Arsenal--the birthplace of General Douglas MacArthur--the museum preserves the contributions of Arkansas men and women who served in the armed forces. Exhibits feature artifacts, photographs, weapons, documents, uniforms and other military items that vividly portray Arkansas's military history at home and abroad. (Free)
Museum of Discovery, not free, Adults $10, children $8. The museum has many fun, hands-on exhibits with a focus on STEM learning. They have the one of the world's largest bi-polar Tesla coils, a tornado ally experience and hands-on looks at geology, anatomy, and math. It's a great museum for kids and adults. We had one extremely rainy day in Little Rock so we were very grateful for the museum of discovery at that time.
Pinnacle Mountain is also supposed to be an pretty neat experience but on our personal trip we opted for the Big Dam Bridge instead due to wanting to drive less and children’s nap times.

MAUMELLE ACOE BEAUTIFUL CAMPING ON ARKANSAS RIVER AND TOUR LITTLE ROCK
This is a great campground directly on the bank of the Arkansas River. Little Rock is super close and the downtown area is rich with history. This was an excellent stop.

Visit to Maumelle Park, Pinnacle State Park, Big Dam Bridge, and The Purple Cow
This is about our visit to the Little Rock Arkansas area. The Campground at
Maumelle Park was fantastic, Maumelle Park is located a few miles north of Little Rock Arkansas, The Park is a COE and the campsites are very nice. Pinnacle State Park is only about 2 miles from Maumelle Park, Pinnacle Park has great walking trails and bicycle trails. Both of these parks are located on the Arkansas River with some fanstastic views. The Big Dam Bridge is also a very cool place to visit. It is a pedestrian walking and bike trail that crosses the river and is about 4200 feet long. It is located in the city of Little Rock. Last but not least we went to a great little restaurant called The Purple Cow. They had great burgers, homemade potato chips, fried green beans which I had and they were great, great ice cream and lots of other great things on the menu. The most famous thing at The Purple Cow is the purple vanilla milkshake. I can attest to you that it is fantastic. They bring you your glass and also what is left in the milkshake maker cup. I would recommend a trip to The Purple Cow if ever in the area. Hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed making it. Happy Camping.

➡️Stan and Rhonda from Over The Hill Adventures continue their FAITH OVER FEAR CROSS COUNTRY TRIP. In this episode they travel to Little Rock, Arkansas. They stay at an incredible campground, Maumelle Park Campground on the Arkansas River. One of Rhonda's favorite things to do is to seek out rails-to-trails; railroad beds that have been converted to multipurpose trails. Stan and Rhonda take their mountain bikes and ride the Arkansas River Trail which takes them over three historic bridges including the Big Dam Bridge which is the longest pedestrian bridge in the world! The following day they take on Pinnacle Mountain State Park. Pinnacle Mountain State Park is known for their world class mountain bike trails and an epic hike to the top of Pinnacle Peak. Stan and Rhonda take on a grueling mountain bike ride that solidifies their thoughts of purchasing mountain e-bikes.
