Visiting France's Most Dangerous City...
We booked tickets to Marseille only to discover afterwards it's poor reputation for crime and safety. This made us incredibly nervous and the more we researched the more bad we found. After hours of research, I was nearly dreading our trip, but like anywhere we go, we wanted to give Marseille a chance and treat it with caution.
We left Marseille feeling fulfilled, inspired, and sad to go so soon. Going in with such low expectations left us feeling quite appreciative of everything there is to see. The city is old with modern and impressively progressive features and overall the city is a multicultural hub. To us, the city was flowing with art, creativity, and music. People were fashionably dressed, expressive, and incredibly kind to us (even though we don’t speak a word of French).
It’s always important for us to go into places with an open mind, ready to form our own opinions apart from those on the internet. Like any city Marseille has its bad areas, but we are so grateful these didn’t deter us from experiencing everything she has to offer.

Solo Travel Paris & Versailles: Mona Lisa, Vénus de Milo, Palace of Versailles & Saint-Malo [2023]
Today is Wednesday, May 17, 2023. This is Video Number 9 of my 36-day vacation, so that means I have 27 more coming, and eight have been uploaded. I am still in Massy, France, and will see the famous painting, Mona Lisa, and the Greek statue, Vénus de Milo, at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. Then there is the drive to Versailles. Of course, I will stop at the Palace of Versailles which used to be the French king's home until Napoleon forced him to abdicate his throne in the 1789 revolution. Then there's another drive all the way over to the medieval French city of Saint-Malo on the coast. If there is sufficient time, I may spend the evening exploring the area.
