Located on a plateau more than 180 feet above sea level, the town of Mount Dora dates back to the middle of the 19th century. That’s when the community became a popular retreat for hunters, boaters, and fishermen.
Today, Mount Dora is a close-knit community known for its historic district with locally-owned shops and restaurants, natural areas, and a vibrant arts scene with several nationally-acclaimed festivals held in the town each year.

10 Things You Can't Miss in Clermont, Florida // Travel Tips for 2022
Take State Road 50 west from Orlando into Lake County and you’ll reach the “gem of the hills.” The city of Clermont was founded in the 1880s, a heritage on full display through a series of original structures on the banks of Lake Minneola.
Dominating one of the most prominent hills in the area is the 50’s-era Florida Citrus Tower. This 226-foot-tall tribute to the region’s citrus industry provides a bird’s eye view of the landscape which has evolved from orange groves to modern-day housing developments.
While an observation tower might be the city’s biggest claim to fame, the historic downtown area has become a destination for local foodies. With several food halls and vendor markets occupying space on and near Montrose Street and other locally-owned brick and mortars, historic Clermont has become one of our favorite places to hang out on a Saturday.

There’s also a wide array of places, rides, and activities to keep families, couples, children, and adults entertained. If you’re looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, there are all kinds of things to do at Disney Springs. Head to Goofy’s Candy Co. to craft a Mickey-themed marshmallow or candy apple. Music lovers can book their date night at the House of Blues for live music shows by some of America’s most well-regarded performers. There are several places to get a glimpse into what life was like in Baton Rogue during the Antebellum period after the Civil War. You can go on a guided tour through the Houmas House Plantation and Gardens or Nottoway Plantation, visit Magnolia Mound, or take a trip through the Rural Life Museum.
Baton Rouge also celebrates its war heroes from both World Wars. You can see the transformed warship that now serves as the USS Kidd Museum, gaze at the LSU Memorial Tower, and more.
There’s no shortage of art in this stage capitol either. Start with the Red Stick Sculpture that celebrates how the city got its name, then go to the Louisiana Art and Science Museum to enjoy its exhibits.

Rushmore Mascots Hit the Road - Their American Journey
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln -- the Presidents of Mount Rushmore National Memorial -- are continuing their American journey. They've been to New York City for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Denver, CO, to throw out the first pitch at a Rockies game. Now the Rushmore Mascots are heading to Kansas City, MO on May 26 and 27, and Des Moines, IA on June 7 and 8, 2012. Their mission is to invite everyone they meet to take a family vacation to South Dakota and see the real Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills.

Dinosaurs at Leipzig Zoo! | American Family in Germany | Family Activities in Leipzig, Germany
The Leipzig Zoo is one of our favorite places to go as a family. Considered by some to be the number one zoo in Germany and one of the top zoos in Europe, it is a must see when visiting Leipzig. There are over 900 animal species on display, the second largest indoor rainforest in the world, and incredible playgrounds for the kids. This year they took the zoo to new heights - quite literally - by bringing dinosaurs to the zoo! There were over 20 life-sized dinosaurs to see spread out throughout the zoo including the 35-meter tall Argentinosaurus and everyone's favorite - the T-Rex.
