The Picturesque Port of Marseillan
Marseillan is a busy port attracting tourists and fishermen alike. This charming village was founded by a wandering fisherman from Marseille in the 6th century AD. It is a town devoted to shellfish and to the manufacture of Noilly Prat, a blend of Languedocian white wines and 40 herbs (whose identity is secret). Marseillan's town center is a mix of shops and an open market. Miles of sandy beaches lie to the north and south on this golden stretch of Languedoc.
What is hotel barging?
Despite the growing popularity of cruising, especiallly on large river vessels, hotel barging is still a little known niche concept. Most hotel barges started life as cargo vessels but have since been painstakingly converted to offer luxury boutique accommodation for small groups of up to 20 passengers.
This is cruising, but in a very different style to ships plying the big rivers or oceans. The pace is slow, with a 6 day cruise covering maybe just 50 miles along a rural canal. Passengers can walk or bike the towpaths as their floating hotel glides gently along. Guests enjoy an intimate atmosphere, high levels of personal service and immersion into the culture, history and gastronomy of regions of Europe such as Burgundy, the Midi, or the Italian Veneto.
Every day there is an excursion, perhaps to a chateau, a vineyard for a wine tasting, or some other ‘off the beaten track’ location. About half of European Waterways’ bookings are for whole boat charters, ideal for families. Otherwise, clients book a cabin to join other like-minded people. MARSEILLAN-Plage & HEIMFAHRT
Wir sind nur 48km weiter gefahren, nach Marseillan Plage. Obwohl Nebensaison war, waren alle Campingplätze belegt. Auf Nachfragen am Camping Beauregard hatten wir Glück und haben noch ein Plätzchen für 4 Nächte bekommen. Ein sehr schöner, ruhiger, überschaulicher Campingplatz. Ohne Animation, Pool und anderem Schnikschnack. Für uns war das schönste die liebevoll angelegte Vegetation und die Lage. Aus dem Haupeingang raus, ist man direkt im turbulenten Geschehen. Kleine Geschäfte für jeden Bedarf und leckere Restaurants. Nimmt man den Hinterausgang, ist man am langen Sandstrand wo genügend Platz ist um einen entspannten Strandtag zu verbringen.
Wir kommen sicherlich wieder.
Leider geht es dann wieder Richtung Heimat. Urlaub vorbei, aber…

Occitanie Hérault station balnéaire de #Marseillan-plage
( merci de noter la vidéo ) Marseillan-Plage est une petite station balnéaire de l’Hérault située entre Sète et le Cap d’Agde. Elle est très animée en été avec de nombreuses installations touristiques.
Les plages de Marseillan s’étendent sur 4 km et sont en sable. Sur la rive gauche par rapport au port, on trouve une grande plage de sable s’étendant le long de plusieurs dunes en direction des plages de Sète. L’environnement est préservé même si l’on note des installations touristiques Sur la rive droite, la partie la plus proche du port est la zone la plus animée pendant l’été avec la plage d’honneur qui s’étend le long d’une promenade aménagée du port à l’avenue de la Méditerranée. Plus au sud, en direction des plages du Cap d’Agde, on trouve en bord de mer, une succession de campings avec de belles plages de sable A la limite avec le Cap d'Agde, la plage au niveau de la réserve naturelle de Bagnas est surtout fréquentée par des naturistes.
A quelques kilomètres de la station balnéaire, on trouve le centre-ville de Marseillan qui elle n’est pas en bord de Méditerranée mais au bord de l’étang de Thau .
