LILLE
Lille is a city in the North of France. It is the principal city of the Lille Métropole. Lille is situated in French Flanders, on the Deûle River, near France's border with Belgium. It is the capital of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region and the prefecture of the Nord department.
The city of Lille, to which the previously independent town of Lomme was annexed on 27 February 2000, had a population of 226,827 as recorded by the 2009 census. However, Lille Métropole, which also includes Roubaix, Tourcoing and numerous suburban communities, had a population of 1,091,438. The Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai, which also includes the Belgian cities of Kortrijk, Tournai and Mouscron, had 2,155,161 residents in 2008 It is the fifth-largest urban area in France after Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse.

This day it was very warm (26 Degrees Celcius) but below in the tunnels it was a nice constant 15 Degrees, my Kodak Playsport is not suited for low light filming but it managed to do alright. Sometimes you will see me filming clumps of cement with a fingerprint in it, these are the actual fingerprints from the builders back in the 17th Century, these where their signatures that they build this section/tunnel.

general information
The northernmost region of France is Hauts-de-France (Upper France). Like other French provinces, it was formed in January 2016 and ranks 3rd in terms of population. About 6 million people live here. Hauts-de-France united the territories of the historical regions of Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy. In the east, the province borders on Belgium, so the Belgian influence is felt in the culture of Hauts-de-France. A railway tunnel has been laid under the English Channel. It is of strategic importance as it connects Europe to the British Isles. The double-track Eurotunnel has become a kind of gateway to England.
Capital

What to watch
In terms of tourism development, Aude-France is only 8th in France. However, there are plenty of tourists here. Guests and the French themselves are attracted by famous sights in big cities: the citadel of Arras, the Paris Gate, 17 bell towers, cathedrals and many others.
The most popular tourist attraction is the State Center for the Study of the Sea Nausicaá (Nausicaa). Named after a princess from Greek mythology. It is located in Boulogne-sur-Mer. This is the largest aquarium in Europe.
A favorite place for tourists is also a mini-Venice in Amiens. This is the Saint-Leu quarter. Beautiful houses are located here along the banks of numerous canals.
Attractions
The Paris Gate is the main attraction and decoration of the capital of the region. They were built by Louis XIV after he captured Lille. The huge triumphal arch served as a symbol of victory. The gates are decorated with sculptures of Mars and Zeus, who personify war and strength.
Place General de Gaulle is located in the center of Lille. It is surrounded by houses built in the Flemish style. In the center of the square are the Column of the Goddess and the fountain. There are many cafes and restaurants near the square.
Amiens Cathedral is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest Gothic cathedral in France. It was built in the 13th century. Architectural harmony is represented by decorations of the facade of the building.

Aujourd’hui, bouquinistes, touristes, joueurs d’échecs et danseurs de tango, animent la cour de ce monument réputé le plus beau de la ville. Au XVIIe siècle, c’étaient des commerçants, qui avaient enfin un lieu à la mesure de leurs transactions !
Les hommes d’affaires lillois, dynamiques, voulurent leur bourse du commerce, pour cesser de traiter en plein vent : ils la quémandèrent alors à leur roi, espagnol à l’époque. Permis de construire obtenu, ils l’édifièrent en 1652 et 1653 ! Aujourd’hui, et après d’importants travaux de restauration dans les années 1990, on découvre, sur la Grand Place, 24 maisons identiques organisées autour d’une cour intérieure bordée d’une galerie à arcades. Dans cette sorte de cloître civil, on entre par quatre portails. Colonnes et toits gris, ornements, encadrements et murs jaunes et rouges, égayent la place. Les façades intérieures comme extérieures, sont aussi richement décorées : cariatides, guirlandes de fleurs, de fruits, de feuilles, cornes d’abondance, statuettes, masques, arabesques, chapiteaux doriques et corinthiens. Une telle profusion ne pouvait être, à l’époque, que l’œuvre de marchands vraiment puissants… et fiers de le montrer !

La reine Aliénor d'Aquitaine serait née à Nieul-sur-l'Autise. Sa mère, Aénor de Châtellerault, fut inhumée dans l'abbaye royale Saint-Vincent de Nieul sur l'Autise.
Aliénor, duchesse d'Aquitaine, épousera successivement Louis VII de France, puis Henri II Plantagenêt qui deviendra roi d'Angleterre de part ses ascendances avec Guillaume le Conquérant.
De cette alliance naîtra (entre-autres) le célèbre Richard Coeur de Lion, qui parcourra la Vendée, notamment à Talmont-Saint-Hilaire où le futur roi d'Angleterre aimait chasser et se reposer....
Jean Sans Terre futur époux de la comtesse Isabelle d'Angoulême.
Le mariage a lieu à Angoulême, le 24 août 1200. Les nouveaux époux vont ensuite à Chinon, puis partent pour l'Angleterre, où Isabelle est couronnée.....
Ils sont inhumés dans le Cimetière des Rois d'Angleterre à l’Abbaye Notre-Dame de Fontevraud .....
