Top Things To Do In Sint Maarten/ Saint Martin (SXM Vlog)
Last week we had the opportunity to visit the Beautiful Island Of Sint Maarten/ Saint Martin. What makes it an interesting destination is that two countries share it. To the north is the French side of the island called St Martin. To the south, which is the Dutch side of the island, they call it Sint Maarten.

We traveled to St. Maarten/St. Martin for the first time and explored the best things to do on the island! Our travel vlog includes their airplane beach (Maho Beach), nude beach (Orient Bay Beach), some seriously incredible Caribbean cuisine, a few historic sites, and more!

*Planning your own trip to Sint Maarten/Saint Martin? Add these to your itinerary!*
1. Hike the Devil's Cupper Trail (and if the weather is good, take a dip in the Natural Pool!)
2. Explore the capital of the Dutch side, Philipsburg!
3. Into Urbex? There are a lot of interesting ruins from hurricanes on the island.
4. Check out Fort Amsterdam for 360 degree views of the Great & Little Bays!
5. Snorkel the secret spot by Fort Amsterdam!
6. Eat at one of the local lolos... do it for us because we failed to :,)
7. Get close up to the wildlife at Iguana
8. Change countries at the French Border (or vice versa with the Dutch border!)
9. Admire the views at the Rotary Lookout Point! (Also nearby is a cool birding area)

Marigot, Saint Martin - A Visit to the French Side of the Island ????????
A visit to Marigot, the capital of the French Caribbean territory of Saint Martin ????
We were visiting Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch part of the island of Saint Martin, on our Caribbean cruise aboard the MSC Seaview. We decided to see the French side of the island which took us to Marigot. We booked our shore excursion with @msccruises.
The island of Saint Martin is divided into 2 separate territories. Dutch Sint Maarten is on the south side of the island and French Saint Martin is on the north side. It's the only place where the Netherlands and France have a border.
The town of Marigot is quite small with only about 5000 people living there. There's a nice harbour in Marigot Bay and a compact central area which is nice for a ramble. There's cafes, restaurants and a small market. It has a distinctly French feel and is quite laid back compared to the Dutch side of the island.
Fort St Louis overlooks Marigot and if you can face the climb, has amazing views over Marigot Bay and Saint Martin. We were a little short on time on our cruise excursion so we didn't get a chance to visit the fort, although I wanted to.
Interesting fact - the scene in Speed 2 where the boat hits the island was filmed in Marigot.
Although most cruise ships dock in Philipsburg on the Dutch side, Marigot is not far and well worth a visit. It's quite easy to take in Marigot and Maho Beach on the same day so I would suggest doing that! A lot of cruise excursions offer visits to both on their itineraries so could be the easiest way to do it!
I was impressed with Marigot and how tranquil the French side of Saint Martin was. The town, although damaged by Hurricane Irma, is recovering well and it's a really nice place to ramble around. I would definitely suggest you take time to visit Marigot if your cruise stops in Saint Martin.

Join me on my 10 day trip to the beautiful and friendly island of Sint Maarten/St Martin. This island is shared between France and the Netherlands and its located in the Eastern Caribbean. It's a very small island that you can drive around in a hour without traffic. So I highly suggest renting a car while you are here! It boasts top notch beaches,. beach clubs and world class nightlife. I personally think during the peak season the nightlife is the best in the Caribbean! The dutch side is where most of the tourists stay and play! It has some nice beaches and it's where most of the nightlife takes place. But the French Side has in my opinion the best restaurants and cuisine between the two. But don't take my word for it, book a trip and see for yourself! We've made our way to a new island (for us), Saint Martin / Sint Maarten. In this video we explore the island for the first time.
We start things off on the French side of Saint Martin where we get an amazing viewpoint at Fort Louis. Then we head into the town of Marigot where we grab a French pastry at Chez Fernand.
We then head over to the Dutch side to Maho Beach, the famous beach beside the airport where planes fly directly overhead.
Lastly we head back to our AirBNB in Nettle Bay and give a tour of the studio apartment we rented:
