Na een tijdje speurwerk op de kaart van het toegestane reisgebied van het NRW-Schönertagticket viel mijn oog op de Oberwesterwald-spoorlijn, het lijntje, wat dus binnen de geldigheid van het NRW-STT valt, ligt volledig in Rheinland-Pfalz.
Er werd een planning in elkaar gezet voor die dag, inclusief het bezichtigen van het stadje Altenkirchen, uitstappen op least-used-station Kloster Marienthal en een wandeling door een bos naar Breidscheidt. Of dit allemaal volgens plan ging? Tuurlijk niet! Maar daarvoor kun je beter deze video gewoon afkijken.

At one time, when the riverbank was higher, the medieval defense tower in the center of town was on the waters’ edge and loaded wine barrels from a crane onto ships.
