Baler, officially the Municipality of Baler (Tagalog: Bayan ng Baler; Ilocano: Ili ti Baler), is a 3rd class municipality and capital of the province of Aurora, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 43,785 people. [3]
Baler is located 244 kilometres (152 mi) north-east of Manila via a mountain pass accessible by bus and private vehicles. It is host to spectacular geographic formations and is situated on a vast plain at the south end of Baler Bay, a contiguous segment of the Philippine Sea.
It became the capital of Aurora on 14 June 1951 under Republic Act No. 648[5] signed by President Elpidio Quirino. It remained the seat of government of Aurora on 21 November 1978 under Batas Pambansa Blg. 7[6] signed by President Ferdinand Marcos.
In 1609, seven Franciscan missionaries, led by Fray Blas Palomino, founded the settlement of Baler, which was later converted into a pueblo (town) by the Augustinians and the Recollects in 1658. Due to scarcity of religious missionaries, the Franciscans again took over the administration of the settlement in 1703.
On 27 December 1735, a great storm came and a huge wave called tromba marina devastated the old town settlement, then located in Barrio Sabang. Among the survivors were the Angaras, Bijasas, Bitongs, Lumasacs, Carrascos, and Pobletes who swam toward the nearby Ermita Hill.[7][failed verification] A new community sprang into what is now the Poblacion of Baler, leaving Kinagunasan, the place of devastation. A mural depicting this wave can be found in the Museo de Baler in town.[citation needed]

We took a PREMIER BUS to BALER Aurora ???????? Genesis Joybus to Sabang Beach Baler Aurora
In this episode we hop on a premier bus to head off to Baler Aurora! This one is special because it is our first time travelling with our little furbaby, Milka ???? we can't believe how convenient it was to travel with her by bus. We went on Genesis Joybus, the terminal was in Cubao and it was a very comfortable ride to Sabang Beach in Baler.
When we got to Baler it was so easy because there were tricycles waiting already. All we had to do was hop on one and we were all set to go to our home for the next 5 days, Akkaw Hometel!

Our family had a chance to spend a vacation in Baler, Aurora and this is the first time for all of us. We stayed in Costa Pacifica Resort. We need to make early reservation as this is Christmas season.
Baler is approximately 6-7 hours drive from Manila. We took the TPLEX-CLLEX-Panabangan Route. I believe this is the shortest route going to Baler.
This trip is by far the longest twisties I have ever driven in 4 wheels. If you think that Baguio has a lot of zigzag roads, it’s just 10% of what you will experience going to Baler so you need to practice your driving skills here. We just used Waze app going to and from Baler and touring around the area.
In this video, we would like to share our experience - the places we’ve been to, the restaurants we went to.
First night, we ate at Yellowfin Restaurant, the place was full. We encountered a little problem here as it took aost an hour before our food was served. Only to find out that they forgot preparing our order. Maybe because the place was so full and the servants were toxic. Too bad we had that experience even if the ratings in websites are high. For us it was 5/10.
Day 2 - We did a half day tour around Baler and it was a DIY type of tour. I just searched for nice places to go to, did a little navigation on travel time and planned for our itinerary.
Here are the places we went to:
1. Millenium Tree - 30mins drive from Costa Pacifica
2. Diguisit Falls - 45 minutes from Millenium Tree
3. Hanging Bridge - 15 minutes away from Diguisit Falls
4. Baler Town: Museo de baler, Dona Aurora Quezon house, Baler monument - 20 minutes away from Hanging Bridge
After the half day tour, we ate at Kubli Bar recommended by one of the staff of Costa Pacifica. Food was great. 8/10 rating.
Although we did not try to surf, you know that Baler is a place for surfing.
Weather is great around December though you will not feel the summer vibes since it is generally cold weather ranging from 22-25 degree celsius.
