MANSFIELD

Mansfield (near Nottingham) is a large market town and the administrative centre of Mansfield District in Nottinghamshire, England. Let's have a look around the town centre!
Also watch our video of Nottingham Christmas Market -

We thought we'd venture to Nottinghamshire to wander round Mansfield Town Centre to see what's there, what shops and markets we can find and see what's happening there today!

Mansfield is the largest town in the wider Mansfield Urban Area. It gained the Royal Charter of a market town in 1227. The town lies in the Maun Valley, 12 miles north of Nottingham and near Sutton-in-Ashfield

Mansfield is Nottinghamshire’s largest market town, located right on the edge of the beautiful countryside, perfect for relaxing walks and easy access to woodland areas of Sherwood Forest. Spend a few hours exploring Thieves Wood and Fountaindale, both located a few miles to the south of the town centre with close links to the Robin Hood legend.

On the outskirts of Mansfield as you venture closer to Sherwood Forest, you’ll find Robin Hood's Wheelgate Park, a theme park with lots of rides and activities for children aged 5-12. Take a ride on the Mini Mine coaster or squirt each other on the bumper boats. Close by is White Post Farm Centre, giving you the opportunity to get up close to some beautiful animals, including goats, deer, pigs, meerkats and even wallabies.

Take the short walk down Leeming Street in Mansfield into the town centre where you will be greeted with an excellent shopping experience. The market in Mansfield is still a very vibrant place for traders and remains at the heart of the town centre.

Just outside of Mansfield, in Mansfield Woodhouse, you'll find i-Jump Trampoline Park, which is the perfect place for all the family to get fit and have fun. With over 55 interconnected trampolines, this is the perfect place for you to put your aerobatic skills to the test!

With a very vibrant nightlife, a large range of shops and a wealth of attractions close by, Mansfield remains a popular and proud place for many residents. We love Mansfield and if you head there, you’ll understand why.

Mansfield, town and district, administrative and historic county of Nottinghamshire, England, on the River Maun. Mansfield was the chief town of Sherwood Forest—the legendary base for the activities of Robin Hood, the medieval robber and popular hero—and the forest court was held in the town’s Moot Hall (built 1752).

The population of Mansfield grew with the 19th-century expansion of coal mining and the hosiery industry, and both remain major local employers of labour. Hard red and white sandstone quarried near the town of Mansfield Woodhouse, 2 miles (3 km) north of Mansfield, was used to build the Houses of Parliament at Westminster. The district also includes the town of Warsop and part of Sherwood Forest.

MANSFIELD Christmas Market - Full Tour

MANSFIELD Christmas Market - We take a walk around the Christmas Markets in Mansfield town centre to check out the stalls, the shops and to see what Christmas presents we can buy as we go shopping! Let's explore!

Mansfield is a market town in Nottinghamshire just twelve miles north of Nottingham and this year it has a Christmas Market so we thought we'd visit and see what it's like, what the prices are like and what you can buy.

When you visit a Christmas market you expect food, drink, maybe some german sausage and some home made items to buy as a present for a loved one or a colleague. So let's see if we can head along the stalls here in Mansfield to see if we can find those and to see what else there is here.

I've filmed here before but it's good to come back just before Christmas to take a look at the market and to do some shopping!

Places to see in ( Edwinstowe - UK )

Places to see in ( Edwinstowe - UK )

Edwinstowe is a large village in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, England, with associations to the Robin Hood and Maid Marian legends. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 5,188.

The village name meaning Edwin's resting place recalls that King (and Saint) Edwin of Northumbria's body was hidden in the church after he was killed in the Battle of Hatfield Chase, near Doncaster, probably in 633. The battle against King Penda of Mercia occurred near the present-day hamlet of Cuckney, some five miles north-west of modern Edwinstowe.

Edwinstowe is referenced twice in the Domesday Book. It records that there were five households, in addition to one priest and his four bordars, living in the hamlet in 1086.

Legend has it that Robin Hood married Maid Marian in St Mary's Church. Edwinstowe's present-day popularity is due mainly to the presence near the village of the Major Oak, a feature in the folklore of Robin Hood.

Thoresby Colliery served as Edwinstowe's main source of employment until July 2015, when the mine was permanently closed. The loss of the colliery, one of the last remaining and part of a national closure of the British deep-mined coal industry, has left tourism as the primary branch of the local economy. Nottinghamshire County Council's nearby Sherwood Forest Visitors' Centre is scheduled for redevelopment and improvement, with a contract awarded to RSPB, intended for completion by late 2017 at a projected cost of £5.3 million.

Edwinstowe has six pubs: the Black Swan, the Dukeries Lodge, Forest Lodge, Hammer and Wedge, the Manvers and the Royal Oak. Other catering facilities include the Edwinstowe Bistro Restaurant, the Cottage Tea Rooms, and Launay's Restaurant.
Environmental concerns are addressed at the Maun Valley Project Conservation Area.

Edwinstowe had a railway station between 1897 and 1955. A goods line remains. The nearest railway station today is at Mansfield (6 miles, 10 km). The village is served by twice-hourly, daytime Monday–Saturday bus services to Mansfield and Ollerton, six buses Monday–Saturday to Worksop, and one bus Monday–Friday to Nottingham. Services run twice a week to Newark and once a week to Lincoln.

( Edwinstowe - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Edwinstowe . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Edwinstowe - UK

Mansfield Station 26/10/20

Mansfield Station is located on the railway line between Nottingham and Worksop via Mansfield,

The line itself named the Robin Hood Line due to its location and close proximity to Sherwood Forest is a fairly new addition to the UK Rail network with the line being closed in 1948 and then reopened in 1993-1998 in various sections with the section between Nottingham and Newstead opening first, followed by the section between Newstead and Mansfield and finally Mansfield to Worksop in 1998, although some stations opened at different times compared to the route.

The line and stations now is managed and served by East Midlands Railway using a range of Class 153/156 and Class 158 Diesel Multiple Units, although this is set to change where cascaded Class 170 units will take over these services during 2021.

DAYS 31,32 FINAL MANSFIELD VLOG 2018 . SAYING OUR GOODBYES TO ENGLAND. LONDON-RIGA-TALLINN

So our journey in Mansfield, England came to an end. Had wonderful time here, met many wonderful people.
It is first time that I feel sad about going home. But I do not want to think that I will never come back. Thought that some day I will be back calms me down.
Loved my every single day in that country, and looking forward to have more adventures.
Huge thanks to Enelin who was one of the best travel partners ever, so happy that it was not someone else, she cared and she was always there for me.
This is my last vlog from England, but hopefully more vlogs from future adventures are coming soon. Enjoy!

Newstead Abbey - Newstead Village, Nottingham, UK

A beautiful historic house set in a glorious landscape of gardens and parkland within the heart of Nottinghamshire. Founded as a monastic house in the late 12th century, Newstead was home to the poet Lord Byron between 1808 - 1814. Inside the Abbey, there is much to explore including Victorian room settings and the poet's private apartments.

The gardens and parkland at Newstead Abbey cover more than 300 acres with paths that meander past lakes, ponds and waterfalls. The formal gardens are the perfect place to relax and offer something in all seasons from the bright colors of the rhododendrons in late spring to the Japanese maples in autumn.

(Couldn't explore the Mansion, it was closed due to Covid-19.)
