My friend, Ruben, and I went on a day tour at Guimaras island during our short stay at Iloilo City! It was my 2nd time in the island, but I never did the land tour before so we decided to do that and go on an island hopping afterward. Unexpectedly, I super loved their Mango Pizza!!!

When we talk about mangoes, Guimaras will definitely be brought up because it is said that they have the “Sweetest Mango in the Philippines.” In relation to that, their local delicacies, with mango, are just mouth watering. The residents must be proud of their breathtaking and stunning beaches, historical sites and other activities. They also have Manggahan Festival, an annual festivity to thank their bountiful mango harvest. It is a small island province that can be visited for the whole day but they can offer a lot to visitors.

WHERE TO STAY: I didn't stay in Buimaras because of my flight but I chose Ong Bun Pension House in Ilo-Ilo City for only 400 pesos. Ong bun is a walking distance from Robinson's Place and just a jeepey ride to Parola Port (the gateway to Guimaras). In Guimaras, the best option is Raymen Beach Resort in Alubihod.

My name is Kev and I'm an American living in the Philippines. As a newcomer expat, I want to share the experiences I have within my first few months with others who plan on traveling or retiring to the Philippines.
Philippines festivals occur regularly throughout the year attracting curious tourists and friendly locals alike. One of the most popular festivals in the Iloilo area is the Manggahan Festival held yearly in the town of Jordan. Guimaras is know as the Mango Capital of the Philippines growing more than 50,000 mango trees on its soils.
Come take a walk around the festivities with my wife Joji and stepdaughter Sheansy as we enjoy the Mango Festival, one of the most popular Philippines festivals.
