The Donetsk People's Republic (DPR or DNR; Russian: Донецкая Народная Республика, tr. Donetskaya Narodnaya Respublika, IPA: [dɐˈnʲetskəjə nɐˈrodnəjə rʲɪˈspublʲɪkə]) is a self-proclaimed breakaway state located in Ukraine, formed on 7 April 2014. The capital city and largest city within the DPR is Donetsk. Denis Pushilin has served as the DPR head of state since 2018.
Ukraine regards both the DPR and the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) as terrorist organizations.Ukraine considers them to be part of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine as a result of Russian military intervention, together with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.The DPR and the Ukrainian government estimate that around 2 million people – over half of the total population of Donetsk Oblast – live in DPR-held regions. Although the rebels do not govern most of Donetsk Oblast in terms of area, only controlling 7,853 square kilometres (3,032 sq mi), they hold major cities such as Donetsk (the capital), Makiivka, and Horlivka.
On 21 February 2022, Russia officially recognised the DPR and the LPR as independent states, becoming the first UN member state to do so. Russia had formerly already recognised identity documents, diplomas, birth- and marriage-certificates, and vehicle registration plates issued by the DPR since February 2017.Both republics are at the center of the 2021–2022 Russo-Ukrainian crisis.

Makeevka é uma cidade industrial situada na região leste da Ucrânia, em Oblast de Donetsk, a 25 km de Donetsk. Nick visited Donetsk, Ukraine, in 2012 to meet with his relatives and friends, that he haven't seen for decades! Thanks to Svetlana Shevchenko (now Tsurikova), Nick found his biological father's grave on central cemetery in Gorlovka near Donetsk (Nick was looking for his native father's grave for decades). Beside Gorlovka, Nick visited famous Svyatogorsk (Святогорская Лавра) with its amazing Оrthodax cathedrals (see upcoming video on youtube soon).
DONETSK' HISTORY: Donetsk is an industrial city officially in eastern Ukraine on the Kalmius River. Administratively, it is a centre of Donetsk Oblast, while historically, it is the unofficial capital and largest city of the larger economic and cultural Donets Basin (Donbas) region. The city of Donetsk is adjacent to another major city of Makiivka and along with other surrounding cities forms a major urban sprawl and conurbation in the region. Donetsk is a major economic, industrial and scientific centre of Ukraine with a high concentration of companies and a skilled workforce.
The city was founded in 1869 by a Welsh businessman, John Hughes, who constructed a steel plant and several coal mines in the region; the town was thus named Yuzovka (Юзовка) in recognition of his role in its founding (Yuz being a Russian or Ukrainian approximation of Hughes). During Soviet times, the city's steel industry was expanded. In 1924 it was renamed Stalino (Сталино), and in 1932 the city became the centre of the Donetsk region. Renamed Donetsk in 1961, the city today remains the centre for Ukraine's coal mining and notable steel industry centre.
Donetsk currently has a population of over 982,000 inhabitants (2010) and has a metropolitan area of over 2,000,000 inhabitants (2011). According to the 2001 Ukrainian Census, Donetsk is the fifth-largest city in Ukraine. Donetsk is nicknamed The City of a Million Roses

Today, a message came from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine about taking control of the settlements of Karmazinovka, Myasozharovka (Artemovka) and Nevsky in the Luhansk region, Novosadovo in the Donetsk region.

After visiting the Philippines Tarsier Conservation area in Bohol, we learnt about a few other attractions in the island in our last vlog: Chocolate Hills, Bilar Man-made Forest and the most lovely Loboc River Cruise. In this vlog, we got tickets for a lunch cruise and headed down to the Loboc river where a beautiful wooden jungle boat was waiting for us. Honestly, it was one of our best cultural experiences in the Philippines as we got to experience great music, traditional dancing and even the most delicious Filipino food (even had vegetarian food). Пятый город Украины по количеству населения, численность которого на 1 января 2014 года составляла 950 372 человек[12]. На территории, подчинённой Донецкому горсовету, на 1 января 2014 года проживало 965 828 человек[12].
Украинские власти в ходе вооружённого конфликта на востоке страны перенесли учреждения Донецкой областной государственной администрации сначала в Мариуполь[13][14][15], а в октябре 2014 года — в Краматорск[16], который на данный момент является административным центром Донецкой области.
