En cas de pluie importante, les chemins qui longent les champs cultivés et celui qui longe la berge de la zone humide protégée sont boueux et donc à éviter. C'est vers le Mesnil-le-Roi mais vous pouvez rejoindre la route pour un petit détour.

IL ÉTAIT UNE FOIS MAISONS LAFFITTE - YVELINES
Maisons-Laffitte, est une commune du département des Yvelines, dans la région Île-de-France, située à 10 km environ au nord-est de Saint Germain en Laye, et à 18 km environ au nord-ouest de Paris. Ses habitants sont appelés les Mansonniens. Maisons-Laffitte est surnommée la cité du cheval, en raison de son importante activité hippique, et de son hippodrome, qui possède la plus longue ligne droite d’Europe. Le nom de la localité est attesté, sous la forme latinisée in Mansionibus, au début du IXe siècle, Mansionis villa, au IXe siècle, Mansiones, en 1136, Mesoniæ, Mesuns, en 1187, Domus super Secanam, et Mesons au XIIIe siècle, puis Maisons-sur-Seine. Il s'agit d'une formation toponymique précoce du Moyen Âge, (absence d'article défini), basée sur le gallo-roman MASIONE, au sens médiéval, (dans les noms de lieux), de maison importante, voire château, mot qui a donné le français maison, attestée dès le Xe siècle, au sens de bâtiment servant de logis, d'habitation, de demeure. Le terme gallo-romain, est issu du latin ma(n)sionem, accusatif de mansio, séjour, lieu de séjour, habitation, demeure, auberge. Appelé Maisons-sur-Seine jusqu'en 1882, le déterminant complémentaire Laffitte, s'est substitué à sur-Seine, officiellement après l'urbanisation du parc du château, par le banquier Jacques Laffitte, (1767-1844).
En décembre 2001, les fouilles archéologiques menées dans le quartier de l'Entrée de Maisons, à l'emplacement de la nouvelle Résidence Hôtelière, ont permis de mettre au jour, des débris de poteries gallo-romaines, datant des IIe et IIIe siècles : cette découverte atteste pour la première fois des origines gallo-romaines de Mansionis.
La première mention du village, date de 820 environ, dans le polyptyque d'Irminon....

WHERE WE STAYED
We considered parking our motorhome outside of the city’s Low Emission Zone limits and staying in the city itself – but hotel rooms can start at 200 Euro per night! Instead we chose to stay for 7 nights at the comfortable Camping Sandaya in Maisons-Laffitte. The ACSI off-season rate was EUR16 per night which was excellent value.
GETTING AROUND
From Maisons-Laffitte it was a 20 minute train ride to Charles de Gaulle – Étoile station at the Arc de Triomphe) with the RER1 line. A transfer to metro line 6 will take you to Place du Trocadéro in 4 minutes which is just across from the Eiffel Tower. The best value for us was to buy a Navigo card and load a week pass on it. The pass costs EUR22.80 and give unlimited access across all zones on all modes of transport. Note that it’s only valid in cycles from Monday to Sunday.
The Batobus hop on / hop off boat on the River Seine is unbeatable in terms of value. If you already have a Navigo card the 48 hours pass is only 15 EUR. It offers a 2 hour round-trip loop from the Eiffel tower.
