Leyte is an island in the Visayas group of the Philippines.
Politically, the island is divided into two provinces: Northern Leyte and Southern Leyte. Territorially, Southern Leyte includes the island of Panaon to its south. To the north of Leyte is the island province of Biliran, a former sub-province of Leyte.
The major cities of Leyte are Tacloban, on the eastern shore at the northwest corner of Leyte Gulf, and Ormoc, on the west coast.
Leyte today is notable for the geothermal electric power plants near Ormoc.

Maasin, officially the City of Maasin, is a 4th class component city and capital of the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 85,560 people. It has 70 barangays and located on the western part of the province with land area of 21,171 hectares.

1. USAY LUBI
A Potential Hiking Destination in Sogod Hiking is a popular hobby not just for sports enthusiasts all over the world, but also for people who love engaging in social activity or those who just want to commune with nature. This kind of activity, enjoying fresh mountain air is a part of mountaineering which includes walking, trekking, and climbing mountains. Aside from being an excellent way of recreation, it also brings many health benefits. 2. AGAS AGAS
The Agas-Agas Adventure Park is a 2-hour drive from Tacloban City via the Maharlika Highway at the famous bridge connecting the towns of Mahaplag, Leyte and Sogod, Southern Leyte. The Zip Southern Leyte is just one of the major attractions at the Agas Agas Adventure Park which will have full operation by July 1, 2011 in time for the province’s 51st founding anniversary. From Ormoc or Tacloban airport, take a van going to Maasin City Terminal. It take 3-4hrs. From the Terminal, take a ride going to your hotel.
