The Vijay Vilas palace (Mandvi - Gujarat - India)
(EN) Mandvi is a city and a Municipality in Kachchh district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It was once a major port of the region and summer retreat for Maharao (king) of the Kachchh. The old city had a surrounding fort, and remains of the fort wall can still be seen to this day. The city has a more than four hundred year old ship building industry that still manufactures small ships.
Vijay Vilas Palace: The center of attractions at Mandvi is the Vijay Vilas Palace, a Royal abode set in the middle of well-laid gardens with water channels and marble fountains. The architect and craftsmen from Jaipur designed and constructed the palace in 1920 AD. The palace has all the elements of Rajput architecture and draws largely on the plan of palaces of Orchha and Datia. The central high dome on the pillars, the Bengal domes on the sides, the windows with coloured glass, carved stone 'jalis', domed bastions at the corners, extended porch and other exquisitely stone-carved elements, make the palace worth visiting. The Vijay Vilas Palace has its own private beach which offers air-conditioned tented accommodation. Being private with conditional access it is a must visit for all beach lovers who want to enjoy their solitude and admire its eco-friendly priestine beauty.For these reasons, this palace has been used as the setting in many Hindi films and has now become a popular tourist destination.

Mandvi | The Blue-water Beach of Gujarat
Mandvi is a town in the Kutch district in Gujarat, India. It was once a major port of the region and summer retreat for Maharao (king) of the Cutch State. The old city was enclosed in the fort wall and remains of the fort wall can still be seen. The city has a four-hundred-year-old ship building industry, which was started by the caste of Kharva that still builds small wooden ships. It is about 56 km south of the regional capital, Bhuj. It is approximately 446 km from the major Gujarati megacity of Ahmedabad. Because Mandvi has no rail transport, the nearest public airport and train station is Bhuj.
Points of interest
• 72 Jinalaya, also known as Bounter Jinalaya or Adiswar Bounter Jinalaya Mahatirth was built in 1982 in memory of Gun Sagar Suriswarji Mahara. This temple is in octagonal shape with area of 80 acres. The temple is home to 72 Deris of Lord Mahavir. The Moolnayak of this temple is an idol Adiswar bhagwan of height 6 feet and 1 inch. Temple also has a dharamshala equipped with all modern facilities including Bhojanalaya.

• Swaminarayan Temple at Mandvi: This temple is new but old and real temple is in main city. it is about 157 years old. New swaminarayan temple is on the main road of Mandvi - Naliya.
• The Wind Farms Beach and Wind-mills, which line the horizon of Mandvi, has views from the Mandvi sea-beach. The Wind mills projects running in this beach was Asia's 1st Wind-Mills Projects in 1983.
• Rukmavati bridge: The bridge on the Rukmavati River was built in 1883; it is the longest existing structure of its kind in India today. This bridge was built by Vishram Karman Chawda of Chandiya belonging to the Mestri community.[9][10]
• Topansar Lake: Sitting in the heart of the city, this lake forms and important landmark.
• Bandhni Bazaar: Mandvi is known for the production of its Bandhani (tie-dye) and other country crafts.
• Traditional ship building: Mandvi is also a 400-year-old ship building centre. The ships built here used to sail up to England and return. Even today, master carpenters build fishing boats by traditional techniques.
• Shyamji Krishna Varma Smarak: The smarak(monument) is located near Lohana Mahajan Wadi. Shyamji Krishna Varma was a scholar and freedom fighter. He established India House in Britain to support Indian student going UK for studying, eventually India house become a foreign hub of nationalist activity for freedom of India. Shyamji Krishna Varma was born in Mandvi.
• Kranti Trith : The Smark of Shyamji Krishna Varma was newly built just 3 km away from Mandvi on Mandvi-Dharbudi Road. This is Gujarat's 2nd Kranti Trith.
• Kasi Vishvanath Beach, Salaya: This is another beach near Mandvi. It derives its name from a Shiv temple nearby.
• Public Bath System KUYDI, Talav Gate.
• Kharva na Mama Temple: situated near Hanuman Dairy, a temple for the caste of Kharva.
• Shitla Mata Temple: The Temple of Goddess Shitla. Its situated in Layja Road.
• Mandvi Port: Mandvi Port is a Port where loading & unloading of ships takes place.
• Ashapura Mata Temple: situated in Layja, Mandvi.
• Rukmavati River: The river in Mandvi, which flows between Mandvi City and Salaya.
• Light House: Newly contracted Light House for Country Craft Sea Transportation, these structure newly contracted after earthquake.

भुज के बस स्टैंड से मांडवी के लिए रेगुलर बस चलती रहती है बस का कुल किराया है सिर्फ ₹35 और टोटल ट्रैवल टाइम है 1घंटा 15 मिनट का।
मांडवी का बस स्टैंड छोटा लेकिन भीड़-भाड़ भरा है मांडवी शहर खुद में बहुत खूबसूरत है और यहां के बीच को इंडिया के बेस्ट बीचज में से एक माना जाता है।
भुज से मांडवी के बीच सफर करने के लिए ट्रेन और प्लेन की सुविधा उपलब्ध नहीं है.
The total distance between Bhuj to Mandvi beach is 58 kms. With your car or your bike, you can complete this journey in about 1 hour, the condition of the road is very good.
There are regular buses running from Bhuj bus stand to Mandvi, the total fare of the bus is only ₹ 35 and the total travel time is 1 hour 15 minutes.
Mandvi's bus stand is small but crowded. The city of Mandvi itself is very beautiful and the beach here is considered one of the best beaches in India.
There is no train or plane facility available to travel between Bhuj to Mandvi.

Rameshwar Mahadev temple is located on the bank of holy River Tapi near Mandvi in Surat district of Gujarat. It is believed that Lord Shree Ram passed by Mandvi area during his exile and he shot an arrow to ground and create Ram Sarovar and water of River Tapi flows in it. Lord Shree Ram worship Lord Shiva here and create a temple thus famous as Rameshwar Temple, God of Ram.
As per Hindu texts like Tapi Mahapuran, Tapi is daughter of Lord Sun and it is believed to be the oldest River of India. As per the mythology, when King Bhagirath was deep in mediation, Lord Shiva appeared in front of him and advised to perform penance at place like Rameshwar where Lord Shree Ram visited and take holy deep in sacred River Tapi which brings peace to devotee.

About the location: The Mandvi beach is a golden-brown sprawl of sand along the southern tip of Kutch district in Gujarat. It lies south of Bhuj, the main junction. The beach lies along the namesake town that was once a thriving port for India. The fort wall of the erstwhile trading hub still runs along the old part of town. The calm beach is a refreshing addition for travellers to the town. Evenings are particularly great with the sunset and the bustle of snack stalls and balloon sellers.
Brief History: Mandvi city was founded in 1580 by the Rao of Kutch, Khengarji. Being an integral port, the skill of the Gujarati sailors was valued by many at that time. Even Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, who discovered the Europe-to-India sea route in 1497, was accompanied by a Gujarati sailor.

Mandvi is a city located in Kutch region of Gujarat. Mandvi is known for it's beautiful and clean beach which is one of the of most beautiful beaches of India. Mandvi also has a very famous Vijay Vilas palace built by Maharaja Vijay Sinh which is one of the most popular venue for movie shooting as well as pre wedding photo shoot. During our trip to Kutch, we got opportunity to explore Mandvi. Here are the glimpses of our trip to Mandvi where we explored Vijay Vilas Palace and enjoyed our time on beautiful beach enjoying the cool breeze of this cleanest beach along with some water sports, adventurous and entertainment activities.

After driving to the western most point of India and exploring the Koteshwar Mahadev Temple and Narayan Sarovar, we explore the beaches of Kutch, i.e., Pingleshwar Beach and Mandvi Beach. In this video, we explore both public and private beaches of Mandvi while we stay at Palace Beach Camp near Vijay Vilas Palace.
