Haflong - calm and quiet hill station at an altitude of 3300ft, surrounded by greenery, is a gem of North East India. The hill town is the district town of the tribal majority hill district of Dima Hasao in Assam. The lofty hills, stunning views of valleys, and the calmness of the place make Haflong one of the best offbeat spot in North East.
The adjacent Jatinga Valley is very picturesque and known for the mystery of suicide of birds. Although the mystery has come to near conclusion now with the help of Bird experts, and the incident like bird's suicide has come to almost zero with increased awareness of the locals.
The most attractive part of the Haflong tour is the magnificent railway journey on the Lumding-Badarpur mountain railway section, crossing a number of tunnels, streams and bridges, with stunning views of forested hills and valleys on both sides. This is one of the most beautiful broad guage Rail journey of Indian Railways. New Haflong station, midway between Lumding and Badarpur, is one of the most beautiful railway stations in India.

The Lumding-Maibang-Haflong Highway: Best Highway In North-East India
Welcome to another video of Solo ride to North-East India. In this video, I rode from Kohora in Kaziranga National Park to Haflong in Dima Hasao district of Assam. There is a special reason for uploading this video because, in my entire ride of North-East India, this was the best road I ever rode. The highway runs for 200 kilometers from Nagaon to Hafflong, and it was one of the best highways I have ever seen in my life. The stretch from Lumding to Mahur was bliss, and negligible traffic and hills made the ride more memorable. Once I crossed Lanka, all I encountered on my ride was tress and uncountable bends. The highway passes through the only hill district of Assam and one of the least populated areas of the state and once you will see the video, you will realize the same.
