About the Louvre Museum:
- Around 1200, the King Philippe Auguste had a fortress built to better protection of Paris. King Charles V transformed it into a sumptuous residence.
- Today, the symbol of the Grand Louvre is the Pyramid by architect leoh Ming Pei. The Pyramid, a homage to the Egypt of the Pharaohs, is the museum's main entrance.
- The Venus of Milo was discovered in 1820 on a Greek island in the Cyclades, probably represents Aphrodite (or Venus), the goddess of love.
- Found on the Greek island of Samothrace in 1863, The Victory of Samothrace is an allegory of the Victory. It measures 1679.79 feet with its basement. There is many hypotheses about its arms and feet position.

Wandering in the world's largest art museum and a historic monument, Louvre Museum. Click here ▶ to see highlights and guide.
The Louvre is not only one of the best art museums in the world, it’s also one of the biggest. There are 35,000 objects on display out of a collection of 380,000. This walking tour features part 1 of the Louvre Museum in Denon Wing. First, a walk around before accessing the museum floor. Further on, a great display of the Greek and Roman antiquities and its famous statues; Aphrodite, Vénus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace and The Virgin and Child with four Angels . Followed by the decorative arts (paintings) area from Spain, France, Italy including the Mona Lisa.
Unfortunately, the day that I recorded this virtual tour, it was extremely busy due to bad weather. But normally the museum is rather peaceful and quite. Unless you are just looking for the full tourist vibe of standing in the long line outside the Louvre in Paris, I highly recommend following my guide here and walk right in. If waiting in the hours long line is an experience you would like just to say you did it, you have that option too. I hope this helps you out on your trip to the Louvre in Paris.
I used the Get Your Guide app. There are other companies out there that allow you to buy tickets in advance. Get Your Guide works pretty good. Just get your tickets to the Louvre in advance and select your time you wish to enter the museum, and walk right in.

I think it only fitting that I end this 42-film series with the decorations of The Louvre’s last inhabitant: Emperor Napoleon III, the nephew of you know who. He lived in The Louvre when it also served as a museum. I’ll bet he had his own entrance. I hope you enjoyed watching this series as much as I did making it. Since this department is quite small, I’ve added a few surprises from La Tour d'Argent and Taillevent.
