Guérande France travel tip - Loire Atlantique - France vacation #France
Guérande is a medieval town located in the département of Loire-Atlantique in western France. The inhabitants are referred to as Guérandais, for men, and Guérandaise, for women.
The Guérande Peninsula overlooks two contrasting landscapes: the Pays Blanc (White Land), because of its salt marshes, and the Pays Noir, with the Brière peat bog.
The fortified wall of Guérande is one of the best preserved and complete in France. Its circumference stretches 1434 meters.

The Hospices de Beaune or Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune is a former charitable almshouse in Beaune, France. It was founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of Burgundy, as a hospital for the poor. The original hospital building, the Hôtel-Dieu, one of the finest examples of fifteenth-century Burgundian architecture, is now a museum. Services for patients are now provided in modern hospital buildings.
An important charity wine auction is held in November each year (formerly in the great hall of the Hôtel-Dieu).

Cette vidéo fait partie d'une série Driving - Nazaire limitée pour l'instant à une dizaine de kilomètres autour de la ville (à vol d'oiseau comme précisé dans les consignes confinement). En venant de Nantes par la route nationale 471, on emprunte le boulevard de l'Atlantique pour entrer dans la ville de Saint Nazaire. Ce driving, je l'ai commencé en prenant la bretelle donnant sur la nationale 171 ( boulevard Léon Blum) qui devient la route 471 à l'entrée de Saint Nazaire.

Coming from Nantes via the national road 471, we take the Boulevard de l'Atlantique to enter the city of Saint Nazaire. This driving, I started by taking the ramp overlooking the national 171 (Leon Blum Boulevard) which becomes Route 471 at the entrance to Saint Nazaire.

The poultry market in Louhans
In the 17C Louhans market was once one of the main markets in France. It attracted crowds of buyers from Switzerland. Fresh products - meat, grain, poultry, butter, eggs and vegetables - supplied the towns of Lyon, Dijon, Tournus, Chalons, Lons-le-Saulnier and Geneva. Taking place every Monday morning, it is still a unique market. The market focus is the Bresse free-range chicken, the only chicken to be awarded an AOC classification. Buyers take them live from their crates to check their condition. Besides chickens, you can buy any type of animals: ducks, geese, rabbits, geese, goats, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, ferrets, small dogs and even the odd horse. Under the Arcades in the Grande Rue in Louhans - the longest arcade in France - clothes stalls are lined up on market day and visitors can find craft work in the Place Saint-Jean and pans and cooking wares behind the church.

This colourful recreation of the French city of Colmar is almost impossible not to notice as you drive along Sukhumvit Road. Amongst the recreation Renaissance-era buildings, the windmill, the canals and the musical water fountain are more than 300 shops selling a selection of souvenirs, clothing, jewellery and Thai handicrafts.

One of the biggest and certainly amongst the most popular of the local markets, it attracts tourists and locals alike each weekend. Sometimes known as “Kankheha Thepprasit Market”, it is home to an impressive range of clothes, jewellery, mobile phone accessories, make-up, toys, gadgets, souvenirs and Thai cuisine.
Pattaya Night Bazaar
What was once a rag-tag collection of street stalls under a stifling corrugated metal roof is now an air-conditioned edifice containing a good selection of stalls selling wares ideal for tourists. Also known as the “Made in Thailand Market”, the vendors within sell everything from discount clothing and souvenirs to mobile phone accessories and small electrical gadgets – basically, everything you would normally find in a street market, with a few bonus extras like tailor shops and luggage stalls.

Hunde sind erlaubt!
Kleiner Campingplatz in der Nähe der A39 im Ort Louhans direkt am Fluss.
Sehr gepflegter Platz mit freundlichen Betreibern.
Unbedingt sehenswert sind Restaurant und Bar mit sehr leckerem Essen.
Insgesamt ein Campingplatz auf dem man länger bleiben und die Gegend um Lyon, Bourg-en-Bresse, Louhans, Braune und Dijon erkunden kann.
Empfehlenswert für alle, die ein Teil Frankreichs und das schöne savior vivre erleben wollen.

Definitely worth seeing are the restaurant and bar with very tasty food.

(Lig)fietstocht door Frankrijk, augustus/september 2022.
In deze aflevering fietsen we via het fietspad langs de Ognon over een voormalig spoortracé richting Besançon. Vervolgens verder naar het zuiden door de Jura langs diverse fraaie canyons (cirques): Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval bij Arbois, Cirque de Landoye en Cirque de Baume. Via Lons-le-Saunier dalen we af naar de laagvlakte van de Saône en bereiken de heuvels van de Beaujolais streek waar deze episode eindigt.

In this episode, we follow the cycle path along the Ognon river over a former railway line towards Besançon. Then further south through the Jura past several beautiful canyons (cirques): Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval near Arbois, Cirque de Landoye and Cirque de Baume. Via Lons-le-Saunier, we descend to the Saône lowlands and reach the hills of the Beaujolais region where this episode ends.
