Это местечко находится в 90 км к юго-востоку от Москвы, неподалеку от города Воскресенска.
Одним из главных достоинств Лопатинского рудника стало крайне неглубокое, поверхностное залегание фосфоритосодержащих пород и их относительная мягкость, что позволило вести разработку «открытым способом».
Поначалу это были кирка и лопата, потом их сменили примитивные по нынешним меркам маломощные паровые экскаваторы. Однако прогресс не стоял на месте, и уже с середины ХХ века добыча, в основном, велась с использованием так называемых «абзетцеров» - многоковшовых экскаваторов повышенной производительности, хотя применялась также рельсовая, гусеничная техника и «шагающие» экскаваторы. Пик добычи пришелся на 60-е годы - производилось до 400 тысяч тонн фосфоритной муки ежегодно, но уже к началу 90-х рудник оказался практически полностью заброшен и по сей день пребывает в таком состоянии. Многие образцы техники оказались брошены под открытым небом. Несмотря на то, что большую часть техники уже разобрали на металлолом, на руднике все еще можно найти неплохо сохранившиеся экземпляры, поражающие своими размерами.

At the end of the tour we will visit Tupolev Tu-16 Airplane Monument - a twin-engined jet strategic heavy bomber used by the Soviet Union.
