I visited Cairo, Illinois. The town has lost 90% of its population and is on the verge of become a ghost town. The city was once among the most promising and fastest growing in the country, but those heady days are long over.

TINY creek is full of MONSTER trout - a creek this small should not have this many BIG fish! p18
In part 18 of the 9-week truck bed camping road trip, I'm fly fishing a tiny creek that is full of big native cutthroat trout...some of which rival those found in the biggest rivers out west...which is super impressive considering this creek is tiny. The last fish of the day was a monster for this class of stream...watch closely to see the other freaks in that pool. Be sure to check out the teaser at the end for part 19/day 2 on this stream without a doubt it's the best small stream or creek I've ever fished. This fishery is amazing...lots of big native westslope cutthroat trout in a beautiful small stream, wilderness setting!

Loomis, California
Loomis (formerly, Pine, Pino, Smithville, and Placer) is an incorporated town in Placer County, California, United States. It is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 6,733 as estimated by the US Census in 2015.
The Placer post office opened on the site in 1861, changed its name to Smithville in 1862, then changed it to Pino in 1869, and in 1890 the Southern Pacific Railroad finally decided on Loomis. The railroad and Post Office found that Pino was confused with the town of Reno, hence the name change to Loomis. The name Smithville honors L.G. Smith, who was one of the town's most prominent leaders.
Loomis takes its name from one of the town's pioneers, James Loomis. At one time, James Loomis was the whole town—saloon keeper, railroad agent, express agent, and postmaster. In the early part of the 20th century, Loomis was the second largest fruit-shipping station in Placer County, Newcastle California, just 6 mi east of Loomis, was considered the largest.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.27 square miles, all of it land.

Cool off at a natural rock slide in an area so scenic it has been listed by Life Magazine as one of America's ten most beautiful swimming holes. Many people don't consider a trip to Arizona complete without a run-down Slide Rock. This area has become so popular it was designated a park partially to keep it from being loved to death.
fossil Creek
Fossil Creek notes- crystal clear torques water just south of Sedona Arizona. A Beautiful place to visit in the summertime. Fossil Creek is at the end of a very rough 14-mile 4x4 recommended trail. Plan on a 1-hour drive once you leave the main road. Be sure to make a reservation due to the limited parking. When you arrive you will have a 30 to 40-minute gentle hike before you get to some good size swimming holes. Definitely worth the effort and time.
Fossil Creek, one of two Wild and Scenic rivers in Arizona, seems to appear out of nowhere, gushing 20,000 gallons a minute out of a series of springs at the bottom of a 1,600-foot-deep canyon.
