LUSSAN: The most beautiful and best village of France | Languedoc-Roussillon | Gard | Uzès
Lussan is a small village with less than 500 permanent residents in the Languedoc-Roussillon region close to Uzes.
It has been labeled to be France’ most beautiful village and as a village with character.
We extremely enjoyed our stay in Lussan and made some nice hiking, horse riding, visited the Pont du Gard, the Camargue and Avignon.
The next two videos on this channel will be about the Camargue and the Pont du Gard.

Salasc direction lodeve
Une petite balade dans les terres rouges du Salagou de Salasc a Octon.
Sur la D148 on peut voir le lac du Salagou en contre bas à droite !
Sur la même route le mas de riri et Celles (Le village a été exproprié lors de la mise en eau du barrage du Salagou, à la fin des années 1960. Le hameau ruiné fait actuellement l'objet d'une réflexion pour y développer un projet de réhabilitation)

Go to Prieuré Saint-Michel de Grandmont in Lodève in South France.
The road to the monastery is an about 800 meters long dirt road. There's a large unpaved parking lot right at the monastery.
I payed € 6,50 for my audio guided tour. You can't walk in for free. The direct hike to the dolmen is 150 meters. No climbing, it's a flat hiking road.

I really wanted to take a break from riding and rest for a day or two but the rain was coming so I had to run away.
I took the highway but got bored pretty quickly and headed towards the mountains, with the curvy roads, bridges, cute villages and beautiful views ????
The sky was looking dramatic, and it was the coldest day so far, way colder than Andorra. The sun really makes a big difference.
But the multiple layers of clothes and grip heaters saved me from freezing, and the views kept me entertained for the whole day.

Le département de l'Hérault (34) est un département français qui tire son nom de l'Hérault, un fleuve côtier qui le traverse. Les habitants sont nommés les héraultais.
Le département a été créé à la Révolution française, le 4 mars 1790 en application de la loi du 22 décembre 1789, à partir d'une partie de l'ancienne province de Languedoc. Il comprend les pays du Biterrois, de l'Espinouse, du Lodèvois, du Montpelliérais et une partie du Larzac.
Le département de l'Hérault a connu un effondrement de son industrie viticole au début du XXe siècle ; la mévente du vin, alliée à une maladie des vignes a poussé à la révolte des millers de vignerons modestes. Le mouvement a été durement réprimé par le gouvernement de Georges Clemenceau.
Le gel catastrophique de l'hiver 1956 a ruiné la culture de l'olive, qui ne redevint prospère qu'à partir de la fin des années 1980. Les coopératives oléicoles de Lodève, de Pignan, d'Aniane et bien d'autres fermèrent leurs portes, seule celle de Clermont-l'Hérault resta en activité.
Au cours de la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle, le bassin de Montpellier a connu l'une des plus fortes croissances démographiques en France.

Mourèze is a small and charming village in the Hérault department of the Occitanie region in Francewith a Mediterranean climate and a remarkable natural heritage, including a Natura 2000 site, a protected area and four natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest. The village is surrounded by the circus of Mourèze, a spectacular rock formation that looks like faces or heads, which gives the village its name according to Gallic etymology. The village is also close to the Salagou, a beautiful lake that offers many recreational activities. Mourèze is one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its medieval atmosphere, its stone houses and its narrow streets. Mourèze has a history dating back to the 10th century. Its name comes from the Gallic word for head or face, referring to the rock formations that dominate the village and form the Cirque de Mourèze, a spectacular natural site of 340 ha. The village was once a fortified castle and a parish center, controlling an important trade route and bordering the bishoprics of Lodève and Béziers. The castle was abandoned in the modern era and is now a private property. The village has preserved its medieval charm, with its stone houses, its red marble fountain and its exterior staircases. The Cirque de Mourèze is a dolomitic chaos, where erosion has sculpted rocks into bizarre and unique shapes, creating a landscape that resembles a lunar or western setting.

Mourèze is a village with a rich history and a stunning natural site, the Cirque de Mourèze, where you can walk on two trails of different lengths and difficulties and admire the rock formations that look like faces. You can also visit the Château Abbaye de Cassan, a former abbey turned into a castle, and the Prieuré Saint-Michel de Grandmont, a 12th century priory with a Romanesque church and a cloister. Nearby, you can relax at the Lac du Salagou, a beautiful artificial lake surrounded by red soil, vineyards and olive trees, and enjoy various activities on the water or on the shore. Finally, you can taste the wines and gastronomy of Pic Saint-Loup, a mountain range that produces quality wines and local specialties.
