TINY creek is full of MONSTER trout - a creek this small should not have this many BIG fish! p18
In part 18 of the 9-week truck bed camping road trip, I'm fly fishing a tiny creek that is full of big native cutthroat trout...some of which rival those found in the biggest rivers out west...which is super impressive considering this creek is tiny. The last fish of the day was a monster for this class of stream...watch closely to see the other freaks in that pool. Be sure to check out the teaser at the end for part 19/day 2 on this stream without a doubt it's the best small stream or creek I've ever fished. This fishery is amazing...lots of big native westslope cutthroat trout in a beautiful small stream, wilderness setting!

We start our tour in Old Town Cottonwood, still known as Downtown or Main Street. Old town is a little town with a lot to offer in the heart of Arizona. It is known for its Main Street with over 60 businesses that attract many visitors and support local residents. Here you will find art galleries, antique shops, boutiques, Wine & Spirit Tasting Rooms and specialty stores. Cottonwood is the economic heart of the Verde Valley. It is a close neighbor to the Ghost Town of Jerome and the red rocks of Sedona, each accessed from the 89A highway. If visiting Phoenix, Cottonwood is only about an hour and a half drive north. While visiting you may want to take a wine tour. The Verde Valley Wine Trail has a collection of welcoming wineries between Cottonwood and Jerome. Do you enjoy bird watching? If you are lucky, you may be able to view 100 varieties of birds at Cottonwoods Dead Horse Ranch State Park. For a little more adventure, take a jeep tour or go kayaking to venture out into the natural beauty of the area.

Flying the Mavic Pro in various spots in Little Cottonwood Canyon, near SLC. It's my favorite of the two Cottonwood Canyons in terms of aesthetics. Waterfalls in a lot of the drainages, beautiful alpine lakes, and gorgeous drive all the way up to the Alta ski resort.

Cottonwood Canyon Road and Grosvenor Arch, Utah
We traveled the Cottonwood Canyon Road South to North.
It is a beautiful drive through desert and mountainous terrain.
It was amazing to see how the colors of the landscape would change from Green-Grey-White-and Red.
The scenery on this road is amazing; pictures can not do it justice.
We also took a short side trip to view the Grosvenor Arch in Southern Utah.
Grosvenor Arch is an unique sandstone double Arch located just off of Cottonwood Canyon Road

The Cottonwood Lakes hike probably gives you the most bang-for-your-buck in the Eastern Sierra. The hike starts from the Cottonwood Lakes Campground, already at 10,000 feet, so your car does most of the legwork to get you to altitude. From there, the Cottonwood Lakes Trail gently makes its way through pristine alpine terrain to a series of several crystal-clear alpine lakes, all in the shadow of the high Sierra peaks like Mt Langley. Every step of this must-do hike is spectacular, so give it a try.
