10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Places to see in ( Petersfield - UK )

Places to see in ( Petersfield - UK )

Petersfield is a market town and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. Petersfield is 17 miles north of Portsmouth, via the A3 road. The town has its own railway station on the Portsmouth Direct Line, the mainline rail link connecting Portsmouth and London. Situated on the northern slopes of the South Downs, Petersfield lies wholly within the South Downs National Park.

Petersfield is on the crossroads of well-used north–south (formerly the A3 road which now bypasses the town) and east–west routes (today the A272 road) and it grew as a coach stop on the Portsmouth to London route. Petersfield is twinned with Barentin in France, and Warendorf in Germany.

Petersfield is situated in the valley of the Western Rother, on the Lower Greensand at the northern edge of the South Downs. The town lies at the western end of the Greensand Ridge, a sandstone ridge running through Hampshire, Surrey and Kent. The town is surrounded on all sides by farmed countryside, with the South Downs south of the town, the Hampshire Downs to the west, and forested hills (Durford Wood) to the north east.

On the south east side of the town is Petersfield Heath, 95 acres (38 ha) of heathland including woodland, grassland, a pond, and a picnic and recreation area. Petersfield Heath is a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI). It also contains 21 Bronze Age barrows which have resulted in the site being given Scheduled Ancient Monument status.

Petersfield's market square holds markets, and there are also monthly Farmers' markets. Stallholders and farmers from Petersfield's French twin town Barentin visit Petersfield and hold a French market. Petersfield has a small volunteer run community garden, 'The Good Life (Petersfield) Community Garden', situated on the edge of the town next to Sheet railway crossing; the garden is open to members (membership is free).

( Petersfield - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Petersfield . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Petersfield - UK

SWC Free Walk 167, Chichester to West Wittering, 8/7/13.

This was a lovely 12.5 miles of walking from the cathedral city of Chichester to the West Sussex resort of West Wittering.
Utilising the 'New Lipchis Way', the walker is soon passing the old basin in Chichester and walking along the pleasant Chichester Ship Canal, which is still used by pleasure craft as far as the village of Donnington. Beyond here, the canal is more overgrown, but this provides a home to more wildlife; indeed, as the walker enters the marina, the least interesting part of the walk, it even provides a watery home to a number of humans!
After the canal enters Chichester harbour, the path moves inland slightly for lunch in the village of West Ichenor.
Thereafter, it was much quieter, and very pleasant walking along the shoreline, often under welcome tree cover on this very hot day. Several miles later, the walker arrives at the National Trust's East Head, a classic sand dune spit.
Then, it's along West Wittering's busy (even on a non-school holiday Monday!) expanse of sandy beach, prior to a small detour back into the village for a bus back to Chichester.
(Though technical difficulties were experienced with the handicam today, it was possible to film some glimpses of the cathedral's famous resident, the Peregrine Falcon! A real bonus to what was a delightful day's walking!).

River Rother - Midhurst - West Sussex - England - Travelling - Ferðalag

The River Rother near to Cowdray Ruins - River Rother Midhurst - The River Rother flows from Empshott in Hampshire, England, to Stopham in West Sussex, where it joins the River Arun. At 52 kilometres (32 mi) long, most of the river lies within West Sussex except for the first 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) which lie in Hampshire. The upper river, from its source to Midhurst, has been used to power watermills, with the earliest recorded use being in 1086, when the Domesday survey was conducted. Although none are still operational, many of the buildings which housed the mills still exist, and in some cases, still retain their milling machinery. This upper section is also noted for a number of early bridges, which have survived since their construction in the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Home to the South Downs National Park Authority, Midhurst hosts an abundance of wildlife.

Cowdray has excellent fly fishing opportunities on the River Rother near Midhurst, West Sussex. The river is stocked regularly with Brown Trout and there is a healthy population of wild fish. See more:

SUSSEX Wildlife Trust is appealing for help with its otter spotting project after completing a survey looking for otters on the Western River Rother, between Stopham, Midhurst, Rogate and Sheet in Hampshire. Between May and September Peter King, a volunteer for the Sussex Wetland Landscapes Project, walked 37 kilometres of the meandering river looking for otter signs including spraint (droppings) and footprints. Otters became extinct in Sussex – and across most of the United Kingdom in the 1950s due to water pollution and widespread destruction of their natural habitat. In the last 20 years extensive conservation efforts to improve the health of rivers and wetlands have resulted in a handful of otters returning to the county. See more:

The lower river, from Midhurst to its junction with the River Arun, has been used for navigation. Boats used the section from the Arun to Fittleworth following improvements made to the Arun in 1615, and after the Arun Navigation was completed in 1790, the Earl of Egremont made the river navigable up to Midhurst by constructing eight locks and some small cuts. The work was completed in 1794, and many of the bridges built at that time still survive. With the opening of the Mid-Sussex Railway branch to Midhurst in 1859, traffic declined, and commercial use of the river had ceased by the 1880s. Pleasure boats continued to be used on the river for many years, and published accounts of journeys along the decaying navigation appeared in 1914 and 1920. The navigation was officially abandoned in 1936, after an undergraduate pointed out that it was still a public right of way. The River Rother rises from several springs near Empshott in Hampshire. The main one supplies watercress beds, before passing under Mill Lane, to the south of the village. It continues eastwards, to reach Greatham Mill.[26] The mill, together with the mill house and an attached barn, date from the late eighteenth or early nineteenth centuries, and are built of brick. Now Grade II listed. All of the original machinery of the mill is still in situ, but is not operational, as the water supply has been diverted.[28] The stream turns to the south-east, and passes under the A3 West Liss bypass, and Greatham Bridge, on the old route. It is joined by other streams, and turns south to reach Liss railway station. The railway and the river follow the same general route, and the river crosses under the railway five times before reaching Sheet. At the northern edge of the village, the river is joined by the Ashford Stream, and there is another mill. After passing under the A272 road, to the east of the village, it reaches Sheet Mill. The river is known to have been used for shipping in Roman times, when it was navigable to Bodiam and possibly further upstream. There are records of small boats reaching Etchingham during Saxon and Norman periods. Stone for building Bodiam Castle was transported along the river in the fourteenth century, and iron was shipped from Newenden or Udiam in the sixteenth century. A century later, an iron store was erected at Udiam. Maytham Wharf served Rolvenden, while Tenterden was served by Small Hythe. See more:
