During the mid-Autumn break one of my colleagues students invited us to her hometown of Lishu where she took us to a local painting town - a tourist attraction, and then on into the mountains.

Lishui, known as Shizhou in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city with the largest land area under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province; located in the Yangtze River Delta region, southwestern Zhejiang Province, with coordinates between 118°41′-120°26′ E and 27°25′-28°57′ N. The terrain is dominated by mesas and hills, sloping from southwest to northeast; it has one municipal district: Liandu District, seven counties: Qingtian County, Jinyun County, Suichang County, Songyang County, Yunhe County, Qingyuan County, Jingning County, and one county-level city under its jurisdiction: Longquan City. At the end of 2021, the city's registered population was 2,699,700.
Lishui is known as the Green Valley of Zhejiang, and there are 3,573 peaks above 1,000 meters above sea level in its territory. 1,929 meters above sea level in Fengyang Mountain, Longquan City, and 1,856.7 meters above sea level in Baisanzu, Qingyuan County, are the first and second highest peaks in Zhejiang Province, respectively. Lishui people belong to the Jiangzhe folk system using the Wu language, and Lishui culture belongs to the Wu-Yue culture.
In January 2005, Lishui City was named the third batch of national ecological demonstration area; in December 2009, it was named China's Excellent Tourism City and China's Excellent Ecological Tourism City successively. On December 23, 2010, the Organizing Committee of Forest Concern officially awarded Lishui the title of Forest City of Zhejiang Province. In November 2017, Lishui was awarded the title of National Civilized City.[3] In November 2018, Lishui was ranked 46th in China's prefecture-level cities' overall wellbeing index.[4] On December 12, 2018, Lishui was named as the second batch of Green Water and Green Mountain is Golden Mountain practical innovation cities. is the silver mountain of gold practice innovation base.

Songyang County belongs to Lishui City, Zhejiang Province and is located in the southwest of Zhejiang Province. It is connected to Liandu District of Lishui City in the east, Longquan City and Yunhe County in the south, Suichang County in the northwest, and Wuyi County of Jinhua City in the northeast. The easternmost to Yuxi Township Xindu, the westernmost to Fengping Township Longhu Pass, the widest east-west diameter distance of 53.7 kilometers; the northernmost to Chishou Township Dachuan, the southernmost to Dadongba Township Dawan, the longest north-south diameter distance of 40.2 kilometers. The total area is 1406 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh census, the resident population of Songyang County was 204,880 as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020.
In 2018, the gross domestic product of Songyang County was 10.606 billion yuan. Songyang is a model of Classical China county that remains intact, and China National Geographic has hailed Songyang as the last secret place of Jiangnan.
