The Ultimate (Lightwater Valley) Front Row POV
Join me for a ride on the 2nd longest roller coaster in the world and the longest in Europe at a staggering 7,442ft (2,268m) or 1.4 miles long
The 1991 coaster was finished off by British Rail using a tubular steel track and having 2 huge wooden lift Hills making it a hybrid and one of the first of its kind
The coaster has 2 trains one blue and one red with both having 10 cars with riders 2 across in 2 rows with a total of 38 as the front car only has 2 seats
The Ultimate front seat on-ride HD POV Lightwater Valley
It was the longest coaster in Europe with over 1.5 miles of relentless 50 mph terrain-coaster goodness! The Ultimate operated from 1991-2020 and was part-built by British Rail. The Ultimate featured two lift hills and two tunnels.
The coaster was well known for it's brutal yet pleasurable ride experience - riders bound all over the place!
Even though the camera was mounted, the video captures the rough charm and character that made The Ultimate a unique experience. Much better than a smooth video...where's the fun in that?
Lightwater Valley is located near Ripon in Yorkshire, England.

In our quest to find the best UK rides for the ultimate UK Theme Park we put ourselves in control of Lightwater Valley and make our decision on which rides we would keep and which we would ditch if we owned the park.

Close season got us thinking, if we owned a Theme Park in the UK, what rides would you want in your UK Theme Park. Whilst it sounds simple, we thought we would ONLY use rides which are already (and still) operating in the UK and breaking them down into strict, realistic groups in order to achieve our goal.
From the rides we would keep, they then move forward to to potentially be selected for our ultimate UK Theme Park. To keep it balanced and not just fill the park with 40 roller coasters...! These are the guildlines we have set:
10 Roller Coasters
7 Thrill Rides
3 Water Rides
4 Dark Rides
11 Family Rides
5 Wild Card rides
The Wild Card rides, are rides you can take from parks NOT included in the 13, however only 1 can be a roller coaster. Make sure you put your top rides in and let us know what would make your theme park!

It's a real shame about the Ultimate being taken down as there are not many adult rides.
