FRANCE 2022: Chapter 7: The Hidden Town of Coulommiers (Yes, way better than Paris!!!)
Welcome to Coulommiers, this hidden-gem of a town is the perfect example of tourist-free destinations. The locals are extremely welcoming, the food extraordinarily delicious, the atmosphere relaxing. This IS France at its best!!! Merci beaucoup Coulommiers!!!

Découvrez l'histoire de la place Jean Jaurès de Lens, son Hôtel de Ville, ses façades, son église.
Cabride de Valenciennes à Hazebrouck en BB 27000, suite de l'artère Nord-Est !
Nous poursuivons notre voyage en cabine vers le nord avec la suite du parcours entre Valenciennes et Hazebrouck, toujours en tête d'une autoroute ferroviaire VIIA reliant Perpignan (Le Boulou) à Calais-Fréthun.
Pour relier ces deux villes, les itinéraires sont nombreux et parfois exotiques comme celui que vous pourrez découvrir ici. Nous passerons par le contournement sud de Lille, pour rejoindre Don-Sainghin, Lens, Bethune et Hazebrouck. Ce n'est pas le plus rapide mais il permets d'éviter les différentes zones de travaux, nombreuses ce jour-ci.

We continue our cabride towards the north with the rest of the route between Valenciennes and Hazebrouck, with a VIIA rail motorway linking Perpignan (Le Boulou) to Calais-Fréthun.
To connect these two cities, the routes are numerous and sometimes exotic like the one you can discover here. We will go through the southern bypass of Lille, to reach Don-Sainghin, Lens, Bethune and Hazebrouck. It's not the fastest but it allows you to avoid the different work zones, which are numerous this day.
You will find the end of this journey in Hazebrouck and Calais-Fréthun in a future video!

La cathédrale de Rouen
La cathédrale Notre-Dame, officiellement cathédrale primatiale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Rouen, est le monument le plus prestigieux de la ville de Rouen. Elle est le siège de l'archidiocèse de Rouen, chef-lieu de la province ecclésiastique de Normandie.
Rouen, capitale de la Normandie, une région du nord de la France, est une ville portuaire sur la Seine. Importante cité au temps des Romains ou au Moyen-Âge, elle possède des églises gothiques, comme Saint-Maclou et Saint-Ouen, ainsi qu'un centre piéton aux ruelles pavées, doté de maisons médiévales à colombages. La ligne d'horizon est dominée par les flèches de la cathédrale Notre-Dame, de nombreuses fois représentée par le peintre impressionniste Claude Monet.
La Normandie est une région du nord de la France. Son littoral varié comprend des falaises de craie blanche et des têtes de pont de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, dont Omaha Beach, site du célèbre débarquement du jour J. Au large de la côte se trouve l'île rocheuse du Mont-Saint-Michel, au sommet duquel s'élève une abbaye gothique. Rouen, dominée par la cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen, est la ville dans laquelle la chef militaire et sainte catholique Jeanne d'Arc fut exécutée en 1431.

The musée du Louvre
The Louvre, once a royal palace, bears witness to eight centuries of French history. From the time of its founding in 1793, the museum was intended to be universal. Its collections, among the finest in the world, span several thousand years and an area stretching from America to the confines of Asia.
The Louvre began as a fortress with thick defensive walls, built in 1190 during the reign of Philippe Auguste. It became a royal residence in 1364 and was modified over the centuries according to changing styles and royal preferences. The Grande Galerie was built between 1595 and 1610, during the reign of Henri IV.
In 1791, during the French Revolution, it was decreed that the Louvre should become a museum of the arts. The Muséum Central des Arts was inaugurated in 1793, and thereafter the palace was increasingly given over to the museum collections and their display to the public.
From 1981 to 1989, the Pyramid project focused on putting visitors at the heart of the museum and its collections. The Department of Islamic Art was inaugurated in 2012 and the Department of Byzantine and Eastern Christian Art was created in 2022.
The Louvre is a universal museum with nine curatorial departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities; Paintings; Sculptures; Decorative Arts; Prints and Drawings; Islamic Art; and now Byzantine and Eastern Christian Art. Some 33,000 works of art are on display, including world-famous masterpieces such as the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Seated Scribe, the Winged Bulls of Khorsabad, the Mona Lisa and Michelangelo’s Slaves, and parts of the palace, such as the Napoleon III Apartments, are works of art in their own right.
In front of the palace is the Tuileries Garden, created during the Renaissance by Catherine de’ Medici, and a few miles away, at the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, is another museum managed by the Louvre – the Musée Eugène-Delacroix, housed in the painter’s last apartment.

BIYB Tattoo des Hauts de France - September 3rd 2022
The Brentwood Imperial Youth Band travelled to the 'Stade Couvert de Liévin' for the Tattoo des Hauts de France with great excitement as it was the first overseas event for the band since our Canadian trip in 2019. . We finally made it having ben unable to travel on two previous occasons due to the pandemic. In that time there have been many changes to the band as members have grown up meaning that for some 60%, it was their very first away job. The youngest on parade was just 10 years old with the average age of 14.
