The 10 Cheapest Places to Rent in America.
When thinking about the cities with the cheapest rent in America, you probably aren't thinking about New York. In fact, former mayoral candidate Jimmy McMillan once famously declared, “The rent is too damn high. But head away from the big cities and you'll find plenty of cheap places to rent.
So just where are these places with the cheapest rent in America? As expected, the cheapest cities for renters are away from the coasts and metropolises, in suburbs and tucked-away cities and mostly concentrated in Southern states.
These budget-friendly burbs are home to America's most affordable apartments. And out of nearly 1,350 cities in the nation with 50 or more rental units, only these ten cheap places to rent offer an average one-bedroom unit under $570.
Here are the 10 cheapest places to rent in America.

If you like the outdoors, Fort Polk is a great place to be stationed. It is a relatively small post, quiet, and comforting. There are many things to do such as hunting, mudding, motorcycle riding, crabbing, kayaking, fishing, boating, and more. Some of it may be a short drive away but it will be worth it.

map of Louisiana

Louisiana (Standard French: État de Louisiane [lwizjan] (audio speaker iconlisten); Spanish: Luisiana; French: La Louisiane [/lwi.zjan/]) is a state in the Deep South and South Central regions of the United States. It is the 19th-smallest by area and the 25th most populous of the 50 U.S. states. Louisiana is bordered by the state of Texas to the west, Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. A large part of its eastern boundary is demarcated by the Mississippi River. Louisiana is the only U.S. state with political subdivisions termed parishes, which are equivalent to counties, making it one of only two U.S. states not subdivided into counties (the other being Alaska). The state's capital is Baton Rouge, and its largest city is New Orleans.

Much of the state's lands were formed from sediment washed down the Mississippi River, leaving enormous deltas and vast areas of coastal marsh and swamp.[8] These contain a rich southern biota; typical examples include birds such as ibises and egrets. There are also many species of tree frogs, and fish such as sturgeon and paddlefish. In more elevated areas, fire is a natural process in the landscape and has produced extensive areas of longleaf pine forest and wet savannas. These support an exceptionally large number of plant species, including many species of terrestrial orchids and carnivorous plants. Louisiana has more Native American tribes than any other southern state, including four that are federally recognized, ten that are state recognized, and four that have not received recognition.

Some Louisiana urban environments have a multicultural, multilingual heritage, being so strongly influenced by a mixture of 18th–century French, Haitian, Spanish, French Canadian, Native American, and African cultures that they are considered to be exceptional in the U.S. Before the American purchase of the territory in 1803, the present–day U.S. state of Louisiana had been both a French colony and for a brief period a Spanish one. In addition, colonists imported numerous African people as slaves in the 18th century. Many came from peoples of the same region of West Africa, thus concentrating their culture; Filipinos also arrived during colonial Louisiana. In the post–Civil War environment, Anglo Americans increased the pressure for Anglicization, and in 1921, English was for a time made the sole language of instruction in Louisiana schools before a policy of multilingualism was revived in 1974.There has never been an official language in Louisiana, and the state constitution enumerates the right of the people to preserve, foster, and promote their respective historic, linguistic, and cultural origins.

Based on national averages, Louisiana frequently ranks low among the U.S. in terms of health,[education,] and development, and high in measures of poverty. In 2018, Louisiana was ranked as the least healthy state in the country, with high levels of drug-related deaths and excessive alcohol consumption, while it has had the highest homicide rate in the United States since at least the 1990s. mapa de Louisiana

Historic HIGHLIGHTS of Downtown LEESBURG, VA

Welcome to our tour of historic downtown Leesburg, Virginia! This is our hometown and we'll show you the significant buildings of this charming Northern Virginian town, as we explore the history of Leesburg, VA.

The Town of Leesburg is located in Loudoun County, Virginia--just a little over 30 miles from Washington, DC. Leesburg was established in 1758 and has a rich history that spans three centuries. This is where we met when we were teenagers, growing up here!

We decided to tour our hometown and began our tour at some buildings that were among the first to be built in Leesburg, VA. Next to the Loudoun Museum is a log cabin, which is an example of a covenant house. We'll tell you more about the history of covenant houses in Leesburg and stop by a covenant house that we even took our engagement photos in front of!

There are lots of things to do in Northern Virginia and Leesburg is one of the best towns to visit in Loudoun County. It's filled with bars, shops, restaurants--and history! Most people walk around downtown Leesburg, without realizing the history behind its Loudoun St. and King St. The crossroads of these two roads were integral to the commerce of Leesburg and--even today--houses most of Leesburg's shops and restaurants.

One of the main buildings in Leesburg, VA is the Loudoun County Courthouse. This courthouse has existed as long as Leesburg has and is in the heart of downtown. From the Civil War to historic court cases, this courthouse has been the focal point for a lot of significant events in this historic town in Virginia.

We next ventured to the Thomas Balch Library, which was constructed in 1922 as a memorial to Leesburg-native, Thomas Balch. This history and genealogy library is one of the cutest buildings in the Town of Leesburg.

An unlikely place to visit in Leesburg is one that has a lot of history regarding slavery in Virginia. We traveled to the original site of the old Methodist Meeting House, whose congregation split over the issue of slavery. Those separate congregations still exist today: Leesburg United Methodist Church and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

A popular tourist attraction in Leesburg is Dodona Manor, which was the former home of General George C. Marshall. The creator of the Marshall Plan owned this house, with his wife, for nearly 18 years. Dodona Manor offers tours of the home and gardens.

A spot in Leesburg, VA that we often visit is Market Station. Famous for its restaurants, such as Tuscarora Mill, this shopping area used to be a grain mill. This area used to be Leesburg's wharf district and was a center for manufacturing and transportation. It also happens to have one of our favorite restaurants!

We had a lot of fun touring our hometown! We realized how much we took the history of the Town of Leesburg for granted and now have a fresh perspective on where we grew up.

Wolf Rock Cave - Leesville, LA - Louisiana's Only Official Cave

OF THE THINGS LOUISIANA IS best known for, few would choose “caves.” Indeed, Wolf Rock is the only known cave in the state, which is perhaps why it has enjoyed so much use over the years.

The 30-million year-old cave system located in Kisatchie National Forest was first occupied as far back as 2500 BCE by the Archaic peoples that populated modern-day central Louisiana. They left behind stone tools and ornaments such as axes, fish hooks, and beads, among other things in the cave. Arrowheads can still be found in the woods surrounding the cave to this day.

Leesville Louisiana is the destination for this week! #vanlife

In 1871, when it was decided to Vernon Parish, Dr. Edmund E. Smart saw an opportunity and quickly offered to donate land located on his plantation, within a stone’s throw of the main house, for the new courthouse. His original plantation house still stands.

The city that formed around the courthouse was named in honor of General Robert E. Lee. Though established as the county seat in 1871, it wasn’t formally incorporated until February 15, 1900.

Growth was slow in the new city until 1897, when the Kansas City Southern Railroad arrived, making it possible to get Vernon Parish timber to the larger markets back east. The population exploded in the entire area and for a short time industry boomed,

In 1941, with war on the horizon, the US Army required a location where they could test new military tactics and train soldiers in their use. Vernon Parish and Leesville were part of the chosen area that eventually covered much of Louisiana and Texas. Camp Polk was created as part of those training maneuvers and once again the population of Leesville soared.

Come along as we walk through this small town and see the history within.
