Venezuela is a country of striking natural beauty, and one of the most highly-urbanised countries in Latin America that borders the Caribbean Sea in north and the North Atlantic Ocean in east.
Neighboring countries are Colombia in west and south west, Brazil in south and Guyana in east. The country shares also overlapping maritime borders with Barbados, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Puerto Rico.
With an area of 912,000 km² Venezuela is slightly more than 2.5 times the size of Germany or slightly more than twice the size of the U.S. state of California. Venezuela has a population of 31.1 million inhabitants (in 2015) of whom 6 million live in the capital and largest city Caracas. Official language is Spanish.
Caracas is the capital city of Venezuela, set in a beautiful valley overlooked by Avila Mountain. This is a city of great contrasts, excellent food, and edgy nightlife. There are some good museums, fine architecture, and one of the best galleries in South America at the Museo de Arte Colonial.

Colonia Tovar: Venezuela's Little Germany Looks Like a Village in the Black Forest
Where can you find half-timbered houses, German beer, and Black Forest cake in South America? Colonia Tovar. DW's Joel Dullroy visited the Venezuelan tourist attraction, where he felt transported back to the heart of the Black Forest. The town has a population of roughly 20,000 people, and was founded by German immigrants around 150 years ago. Not much has changed there since then.

A viable alternative to Maracaibo (the federal capital), Maracaibo has a lakeshore setting and is big in the world of Venezuelan tourism.

Los Roques archipelago is a federal dependency of Venezuela consisting of approximately 350 islands, cays, and islets in a total area of 40.61 square kilometers. The archipelago is located 128 kilometers (80 mi) directly north of the port of La Guaira.
The islands' pristine coral reef attracts many wealthy visitors, especially from Europe, some of whom come in their own yachts and anchor in the inner, protected shallow waters. Development and tourism are controlled.
Because of the wide variety of seabirds and rich aquatic life, the Venezuelan government declared Los Roques a National Park in 1972.

World's highest Waterfall - the most beautiful Angel Waterfalls of Venezuela
Angel Falls are the tallest and most beautiful waterfall in the world. It drops from a cleft near the summit. The falls are 979 meters (3,212 ft) high, with an uninterrupted descent of 807 meters (2,648 ft) — a drop nineteen times higher than that of Niagara Falls. Auyán Tepui in Bolívar state, Venezuela, is the most visited and one of the largest tepuis in the Guiana Highlands.

In this video, you'll see and see my adventures in Venezuela which is my country #37 in my quest to visit all 193 UN-recognized countries around the world. My time in Venezuela was one of the most epic adventures I have ever had during my one year trip around the world. Visiting Mount Roraima was a dream come true as I visualized myself trekking the famous table mountain for years. Seeing Angel Falls was the second time I felt emotionally moved when I travelled and it was a surreal experience. Exploring the Canaima Lagoon was also a rare treat that I never expected to be great. I'd love to return to Venezuela one day and travel there independently once the country is no longer dangerous.

Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall in the world. Angel Falls is also called Kerepakupai meru which means waterfall of the deepest place.
Angel Falls is found in Venezuela in the Canaima National Park. It is the highest waterfall in the world at 3,212 feet (979 m). The falls has a clear drop of 2,647 feet (807 m) which is so far that the water vaporizes with the wind and becomes mist well before reaching the ground.
