Ubicado al noroeste del estado de Chiapas y a unas tres horas en carro de la Ciudad Capital se encuentra Palenque. Esta localidad es de las favoritas de muchos, ya que muy cerca se encuentra uno de los sitios arqueológicos de Chiapas más importantes del mundo maya.
- San Cristóbal de las Casas
San Cristóbal de Las Casas es una ciudad montañosa situada en el estado sureño de Chiapas en la que podrás encontrar diversas construcciones coloniales bien conservadas que invitan a ver la historia de México.
- Cascada de Agua Azul - Tumbalá
Situado a una hora y media en carro de San Cristóbal de las Casas, la Cascada de Agua Azul posee un azul añil en sus riachuelos, una verde vegetación, brisa constante y un sonido acuático inagotable que lo hace uno de los grandes lugares para visitar en Chiapas.
- Cañón del Sumidero - Tuxtla Gutiérrez
El Cañón del Sumidero está ubicado a 5 kilómetros de Tuxtla Gutiérrez, en Chiapas. Constituye un espacio natural de los más ricos en esta localidad.
- Selva Lacandona - Palenque
La Selva Lacandona es uno de los destinos turísticos en Palenque Chiapas, donde podrás encontrar territorios arqueológicos que prácticamente están sin descubrirse ya que fueron devoradas por la selva.

La cara de la Frontera Sur que nadie muestra - Chiapas y Guatemala
Como mexicanos estamos acostumbrados a ver el norte, pero hoy voltearemos al sur, cruzaremos caminando una de las fronteras más dinámicas y con escénicos paisajes: el límite occidental de Guatemala y México.
La línea que divide nuestros países es de casi mil kilómetros de longitud, y atraviesa el volcán Tacaná, selvas y ríos caudalosos.
Esta delimitación fronteriza dividió a uno de los pueblos mayas más antiguos del continente americano, la etnia Mam; sin embargo ellos han logrado mantenerse unidos con el libre cruce y trueque de sus productos.
Nuestra base es el tranquilo y bonito pueblo de Unión Juárez, que se localiza a pocos kilómetros de la línea fronteriza. En el primer día fuimos a Cordoba Matasanos, la comunidad del municipio con las mejores vistas del Cañón del Suchiate, el cual separa a México y Guatemala.

San Cristobal de las Casas and surroundings, Mexico
San Cristóbal de las Casas is a city and municipality located in the Central Highlands region of Chiapas. As a municipality, the city functions as the governmental authority for 83 other rural communities outside the city proper, which cover a territory of 484 km2. The municipality borders the municipalities of Chamula, Tenejapa, Huixtán, Teopisca, Totolapa, Chiapilla, San Lucas and Zinacantán.
The city, especially the historic center, has maintained its Spanish colonial layout, with narrow cobblestone streets, roofs covered in red clay tile and wrought iron balconies with flowers. The facades of the buildings vary from Baroque to Neoclassical and Moorish, painted in various colors.
The main town square is a marked copy of La Florida (park) of Álava, Spain, due to local euphoria with the last name Ortés De Velasco. The center of the city is its main plaza. This plaza’s official name is Plaza 31 de marzo, but it is more often simply called the Zocalo.
When Dominicans came to San Cristóbal from Seville, Spain, they were given an area of land to construct their church and monastery. The first stone was laid in 1547 by Francisco Marroqui, then Bishop of Guatemala. The monastery was finished in 1551. It is one of the most ornate structures in Latin America, both due to the stucco work on the main facade and the gilded altarpieces which completely cover the length on the church’s interior.
Chamula is located in the Chiapas highlands, at an altitude of 2,200 meters; it is inhabited by the indigenous Tzotzil Maya people, whose Tzotzil language is one of the Mayan languages.
The town enjoys unique autonomous status within Mexico. No outside police or military are allowed in the village. Chamulas have their own police force. The church of San Juan, in the municipal cabecera (headtown), is filled with colorful candles, and smoke from burning copal resin incense, commonly used throughout southern Mexico. Along the walls of the church, as in many Catholic churches, are dressed-up wooden statues of saints in large wooden cases, many wearing mirrors to deflect evil. The local form of Catholicism is a blend of pre-conquest Maya customs, Spanish Catholic traditions, and subsequent innovations.
There are no pews in the church, and the floor area is completely covered in a carpet of green pine boughs and soda bottles (mostly Coca Cola). Curanderos (medicine men) diagnose medical, psychological or ‘evil-eye’ afflictions and prescribe remedies such as candles of specific colors and sizes, specific flower petals or feathers, or - in a dire situation - a live chicken. The specified remedies are brought to a healing ceremony. Chamula families kneel on the floor of the church with sacrificial items, stick candles to the floor with melted wax, drink ceremonial cups of Posh, artisanal sugar-cane-based liquor, and chant prayers in an archaic dialect of Tzotzil.
San Lorenzo Zinacantán is a municipality in the southern part of the Central Chiapas highlands and about 98% of its population are Tzotzil Maya, an indigenous people with linguistic and cultural ties to other highland Maya peoples.All of the local women wear purple traditional garments, which we were told is the fashionable colour of the moment. In a neighbouring village, many years ago a German couple moved there with a Singer sewing machine and taught the local women how to sew using the machine and make their own clothing. It’s now the fashion capital of the region and where all the trends start out!

We walk down one of the best streets in town as well as through the commercial district to show you what they have to offer. And we finished this visit by showing you some of the best Mayan food we've ever had.
The Mayan food we ate was: Yuca Frita Al Ajillo, Platanitos Rellenos de queso y picadillo, Pollo Lacandon, and Enchiladas Palencanad.

Palenque , también conocido antiguamente en lengua itzá como Lakamha (literalmente: Flat-Place-River),] fue una ciudad estado maya en sur de México que pereció en el siglo VIII. Las ruinas de Palenque datan de ca. 226 aC a ca. 799 d. C. [cita requerida] Después de su declive, la jungla de cedros, caobas y nísperos la cubrió,] pero desde entonces ha sido excavada y restaurada. Se encuentra cerca del río Usumacinta en el estado mexicano de Chiapas, a unos 130 km (81 millas) al sur de Ciudad del Carmen, 150 metros (490 pies) sobre el nivel del mar. Tiene un promedio de 26 ° C (79 ° F) húmedos con aproximadamente 2160 milímetros (85 pulgadas) de lluvia al año.

Mythological beings using a variety of emblem glyphs in their titles suggests a complex early history. For instance, Kʼukʼ Bahlam I, the supposed founder of the Palenque dynasty, is called a Toktan Ajaw in the text of the Temple of the Foliated Cross.
The famous structures that we know today probably represent a rebuilding effort in response to the attacks by the city of Calakmul and its client states in 599 and 611. One of the main figures responsible for rebuilding Palenque and for a renaissance in the city's art and architecture is also one of the best-known Maya Ajaw, Kʼinich Janaabʼ Pakal (Pacal the Great), who ruled from 615 to 683. He is known through his funerary monument dubbed the Temple of Inscriptions, after the lengthy text preserved in the temple's superstructure. At the time Alberto Ruz Lhuillier excavated Pakal's tomb, it was the richest and best preserved of any scientifically excavated burial then known from the ancient Americas. It held this position until the discovery of the rich Moche burials at Sipan, Peru and the recent discoveries at Copan and Calakmul.

Beside the attention that K'inich Janaab' Pakal's tomb brought to Palenque, the city is historically significant for its extensive hieroglyphic corpus composed during the reigns of Janaab' Pakal, his son Kʼinich Kan Bahlam II, and his grandson K'inich Akal Mo' Naab', and for being the location where Heinrich Berlin and later Linda Schele and Peter Mathews outlined the first dynastic list for any Maya city. The work of Tatiana Proskouriakoff as well as that of Berlin, Schele, Mathews, and others, initiated the intense historical investigations that characterized much of the scholarship on the ancient Maya from the 1960s to the present. The extensive iconography and textual corpus has also allowed for study of Classic period Maya mythology and ritual practice.

¿Que hacer en Lagunas de Montebello?
Se trata, sin duda alguna, de uno de los sitios naturales más hermosos del país- se debe a sus ambientes acuáticos, tanto superficiales como subterráneos, originados por su naturaleza kárstica, enmarcados en tupidos pinares, encinares y bosques mixtos con la llamativa presencia de las bromelias y las orquídeas.
Los lagos son “uvalas” es decir, antiguos cenotes que la corrosión de la roca caliza y los derrumbes han ido uniendo a través del tiempo. Muchos de los cuerpos de agua carecen de denominación. Su número es incierto, aunque se dice que son 59 los lagos. Famosos por los colores de sus aguas, estos se deben a varios factores, entre los que se cuentan los tipos de suelo del fondo, la vegetación y la refracción de la luz.
La visita se realiza en dos caminos, el primero lleva a los terrenos del Parque Nacional propiamente dicho, donde se encuentran los lagos Esmeralda, La Encantada, Bosque Azul, Ensueño y Agua Tinta, rodeados de bosques de pinos. Junto a ellos existen algunos servicios y además de la posibilidad de hacer excursiones hacia San Rafael, un arco natural de 40 metros de altura sobre un sumidero o ponor, donde se sumerge la pequeña corriente de agua conocida como Paso del Soldado. El otro camino lleva a los lagos que coordina la comunidad, Cañada, Pojoj, Tziscao y Dos Lagunas, entre otros. El lago Tziscao es una de los mayores y el más profundo –45 m- y se encuentra ya sobre la frontera guatemalteca. A sus orillas se encuentra un poblado chuj. Hay albergues, comedores y balsas.
Se localiza a 61 Kms. aproximadamente de la ciudad de Comitán, primero por la carretera federal No. 190 por 16 kms., hasta la ciudad de la Trinitaria de este lugar se toma la carretera Fronteriza del Sur por 45 kms. Para llegar al atractivo
