Marseille is the oldest city in France, the country’s largest commercial harbour and the capital of Provence, an enchanting region full of contrast.The most impressive religious building in Marseille is a fortified monastery church that dates back to the fifth century, the mighty Abbaye Saint Victor. Deep down in the rock is an Early Christian crypt and a number of stone sarcophaguses that contain the remains of various holy martyrs that date back to the Roman persecution of the Christians. Aix-En-Provence, along with its numerous lanes, is one of the most beautiful cities in France. More than forty spectacular fountains help to cool down this ancient town in the hot months of summer when both foreign and French tourists visit the city. ‘Sur Le Pont D’Avignon’ are the words of the world famous French song that is familiar to both young and old alike. It is a song of dance on the bridge of the Pont Saint Bénézet but it is more likely that the people here once danced under the bridge as that is the location of its bars! For almost two thousand years an imposing Roman amphitheatre has dominated the city of Nîmes. It is the capital of the Departement Gard that is situated on the periphery of Provence. One of the most well preserved mediaeval fortifications in Europe surrounds the small town of Aigues-Mortes along the western periphery of the Camargue in the south of France. The town was established in 1240. From the city wall that is eleven metres high and six metres thick, there is a wonderful view across the rooftops of the impregnable city. With historic towns in which both the Romans and the Papacy felt at home, and with blossoming fields of lavender and ancient mountain villages, Provence is a land of sweet aromas and radiant light.

Annecy est située sur la rive nord du lac du même nom, à environ 40 km au sud de Genève. Le canal Tew traverse la ville, reliant le lac à la rivière Fier, qui forme la limite nord-ouest. Autour d'Annecy se trouvent les monts du Verrier, du Semnoz, du Tornet et du Parmelan.
• Annecy est dominée par un château médiéval perché sur une colline du centre-ville. La première mention de celui-ci, vraisemblablement basée sur l'emplacement d'une forteresse du VIIIe siècle, est apparue au XIIe siècle. Le château servit de résidence aux comtes de Genève, puis aux ducs de Savoie. Le château abrite un musée avec des expositions permanentes et temporaires.
• L'église Saint-Pierre de style gothique tardif, édifiée au XVIe siècle, est le centre de l'évêché d'Annecy, fondé en 1822.
• Island Palace, situé au centre du canal Tew, construit en 1132. Au cours de l'histoire, le bâtiment a servi diverses fonctions administratives, notamment la résidence du souverain d'Annecy, le tribunal de la ville et la prison de la ville. En 1900, l'Island Palace est reconnu monument historique d'Annecy, il abrite aujourd'hui le Musée de la Ville.
Annecy is located on the northern shore of the lake of the same name, about 40 km south of Geneva. The Tew Canal flows through the city, connecting the lake with the Fier River, which forms the northwestern boundary. Around Annecy are the mountains of Verrier, Semnoz, Tornet and Parmelan.

The castle served as the residence of the counts of Geneva, and later the dukes of Savoy. The castle houses a museum with permanent and temporary exhibitions.
• The Late Gothic Church of St. Peter, built in the 16th century, is the center of the Bishopric of Annecy, founded in 1822.
• Island Palace, located in the center of the Tew Canal, built in 1132. Throughout history, the building served various administrative functions, in particular, the residence of the ruler of Annecy, the city court and the city prison. In 1900, the Island Palace was recognized as a historical monument of Annecy, today it houses the City Museum.

Le Voyage, La Vision, La Vie: Ep 3 - Annecy + Chambéry
Ça fait deux mois depuis mars, mais la vie est occupée en France ! On a fait plusieurs de choses cet mois car le printemps est bien arrivé ! Voilà: il y avait les picnics, la carnaval de Chambéry, le tour du monde, l'anniversaire de mon coloc, le brunch international(grace à la F.A.C), mon cours de kayak, et beaucoup de danse!

It's been hectic here in France, so there was a slight pause in the video recaps each month. Here is the March edition. Warm weather came early that month and I got to enjoy a bunch of sunshine, kayaking, picnics, dancing and Chambéry-exclusive events like the tour du monde, the carnival of Chambéry and much more!

Visite de l'église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Nemours
L'église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Nemours (77) est fondée par Gauthier Ier de Nemours en 1170 avec l'accord du roi de France et de Guillaume de Champagne, archevêque de Sens, dans le but de recevoir les reliques du Saint rapportées de Sébaste. Elle est composée de trois parties d'âge distinct. La tour-porche date en grande partie du premier édifice du XIIe siècle (hauteur environ 60 mètres).
L'église est probablement détruite dans l'incendie de la ville au début du XVe siècle. Elle est reconstruite à partir de 1445 et consacrée le dimanche 8 Octobre 1595. Le chœur est une reconstruction du XVIe siècle, et la nef, qui supporte des liernes en bois de châtaignier, est surhaussée au XVIIe siècle (d'après les plans de Gobert architecte du Roi à Fontainebleau). De plan rectangulaire, encadré de deux bas-côtés, l'édifice est dépourvu de transept. À son extrémité furent bâties trois chapelles rayonnantes aux clochetons polygonaux, couverts d'ardoises comme le reste de l'édifice.
L'intérieur est réaménagé au XIXe siècle, les vitraux sont installés vers 1850 puis, vers 1890, un mobilier néo-gothique est confectionné.
On y trouve notamment : un maitre-autel monumental de style néogothique dédié à Saint Jean-Baptiste (1890), le vitrail central au-dessus du maitre-autel daté de 1550, une sculpture de Piéta réalisée en 1869 par Sanson (Grand Prix de Rome), un triptyque sur toile signé Nicolas-Guy Brenet (1770), un bénitier daté de 1547, un orgue classé monument historique datant de 1653 et 1744, et la cloche « Philippe » dédiée en 1672 à Philippe Duc d'Orléans, devenu Duc de Nemours et frère de Louis XIV (déposée en 1990). Une inscription placée sur un pilier gauche du chœur rappelle le souvenir du passage du Pape Pie VII dans cette église le 25 Novembre 1804, il se rendait au sacre de Napoléon à Notre-Dame de Paris.
L'église a été classée Monument Historique en 1977.
