Join us as we move on from the mountains to the lakes as part of our early retirement adventure in our VW Campervan. We discover and spend the night at possibly the most beautiful and deserted mountain lake in the French Alps and then head off to one of the most popular lakeside holiday locations the region has to offer. More hiking, cycling, wild swimming and exploring the places off the beaten track.
We are Richard and Jackie and we live in the UK. We have chosen to early retire from teaching during the summer of 2022 at the age of 51. We are currently on a 3 week trip to the Alps, with no plans just our desire to find the hidden wild places.
You will soon realise that we are complete YouTube beginners with all the challenges of creating and publishing videos ahead of us, not to mention uploading when on the road.

Winter hiking around Annecy: Le Mamelon Vert
After several months of isolation, it is time to get back on the road: direction Annecy in France. The quickest way is through Switzerland, we cross the borders without any problems and after more than 5 hours on the road we arrive at our destination: a lovely studio apartment in Menthon-Saint-Bernard.
Initially we aimed to climb the “Montagne de Cotagne”, but our plan has changed due to the snow conditions. We climbed “Le Mamelon Vert” instead.
The snow on the slopes had an orangy-yellow hue which was the consequence of a recent Sahara sand storm.
At one point we follow in the footsteps of an ibex, a striking encounter.
Voilà the first day of our stay around Annecy ended here on this beautiful summit, we have already planned a next summit for tomorrow. Hope the sun will shine again for us.

C'est l'un des plus beau camping que nous avons fait jusque là... Pas trop grand, il possède des mobil-homes et des emplacements, quasiment entièrement ombragé, et deux piscines ouvertes seulement aux clients du camping.

Unterwegs im Camper Kastenwagen : Annecy ist eine Alpenstadt im Südosten Frankreichs. Sie liegt an der Mündung des Lac d'Annecy in den Thiou. Am bekanntesten ist die Stadt für ihre Altstadt Vieille Ville mit den Kopfsteinpflasterstraßen, sich schlängelnden Kanälen und pastellfarbenen Häusern. Über der Stadt thront das mittelalterliche Château d’Annecy, in dem einst die Grafen von Genf residierten. Heute beherbergt das Schloss ein Museum mit regionalgeschichtlichen Exponaten wie z. B. alpenländischem Mobiliar und religiöser Kunst sowie einer naturkundlichen Ausstellung. Eine Wohnmobil der Extraklasse . ???? Traumziel für Camper und Campingbegeisterte ,,,

LAKE ANNECY, FRANCE TOUR (PART 7)
Hi. In this video we visit Annecy, an idyllic setting, close to Switzerland and Italy, at the northern end of Lake Annecy. Lake Annecy is internationally renowned for its beautiful landscape and for the fantastic quality of the water in the lake which, thanks to the efforts made to protect it for over 50 years, is now the purest in Europe. The lake is located at an altitude of 447m, but it is overlooked at the highest point by the Tournette Mountain, a stunning summit shaped like an armchair at an altitude of 2351m
If you don’t know us already, we're Helen, Andy and our self built glampervan Giovanna. Over the winter of 2021, we transformed from her from an empty van into our tiny home on wheels. HEADING SOUTH! / VanLife Lake Annecy, France!
Hello again!
This video follows us as we head deeper into the french alpine region- and it does not disappoint! In this video we head into the city of Annecy, sampling the wine, eating the pizza and wandering the streets. We then explore around the lake, looking for waterfalls and making a splash by the shore! Annecy France - My Lake and Hiking Trip
This time we show you Annecy and the Parc national de la Vanoise. Annecy is a beautiful little town situated right on a lake. Actually a bunch of little villages are along the lake making it a fun place to take postcard photos and chillax.
If you're looking for a weekend hike from Paris or just one in general, Parc national de la Vanoise did the trick for us. In winter, this area is for skiing but you can hike it during the summer.
