Diesel locomotives Tail Gunner
The use of Diesel locomotives on some tours is because of operational reasons. Some of the tours run to destinations with no turning facilities, so the diesel hauls the train to a location where the steam loco can take over again. They are also used for train heating, assistance on steep gradients(especially during leaf fall season)and are a great help if any problems arise with the steam loco.
Most Diesels used are interesting machines in their own right too, with most of then now over 50 years old, some even 60 years old now.

The Best of Dubai Airshow 2023 - Complete Show Highlight
This is the grand finale video of the most extraordinary and largest edition of Dubai Airshow.
The Dubai Airshow 2023 features 190+ aircraft on static and flying display, a showcase of over 1,400 exhibitors and over 100,000 visitors. I started my visit to the airshow by flying over the entire site onboard a helicopter by Air Chateau.
There are many aircraft to visit. First, I visited the Boeing 777X; the world’s largest twin-engine aircraft and received updates from the crew and engineer at Boeing. Then, I went on board the new branding of SAUDIA B787-10. Next, I visited Beond Airlines, all Business Class leisure airline flying to and from the Maldives. The world’s first Passenger to Freighter A320 is also on display with India’s Pradhaan Air as the operator.
I interviewed Egypt Air Chairman and CEO Eng. Yahia Zaharia about their latest orders inside the new Egypt Air A321neo. Then I checked out the “Big Twin” which is the world’s first B777-300/ERSF converted freighter. Riyadh Air just released its second livery at the Dubai Airshow while Etihad Airways showcased its new Business Class suite onboard the B787.
In the exhibition hall, I visited Strata which builds components for OEMs such as Airbus, Boeing, and Pilatus. Emirates is showing the employee experience through AI and virtual at their stand. Finally, I met up with the 2 UAE astronauts, Hazza and Sultan at the Mohammad bin Rashid Space Center at the airshow.
Aviation is back in full swing through the orders and numbers of investments demonstrated at this airshow. The one final element is the humanity displayed at the airshow. It has been an incredible 5 days at the Dubai Airshow 2023. See you next time!

Japan explore with Storm trip 4
Every street in Japan has been covered by Google Street View. Someone even carried that camera on a backpack and climbed to the top of Mt Fuji ! We visit some very interesting places there. I have included 2 additional locations for this journey. I have discovered some beautiful and interesting places in Taiwan, the island nation south of Japan. We also journey to a very large island north of Japan, Sakhalin, which is part of Russia. It is a narrow island that extends over 200 miles, starting just 20 miles off the north coast of Japan. It is described as a Sprawling, picturesque island known for its abundant wildlife, lush mountains & remote beaches. I have included it because I know so little about it.

Just listen as Black 5 45305 leaves Leicester North on the Great Central Railway. The driver eases the train out of the station, but once the carriages are clear of the platform, he really opens her up.The sound volume took me (and my camera) by surprise.

LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman was the motive power for todays Dalesman railtour from Chester to Carlisle and return with steam on from Hellifield to Carlisle via the Settle Carlisle line then back on the WCML over Shap to Carnforth, we first see the Scot with twelve on at Helwith Bridge sounding great then on the return from Barrow Mill where I got bowled over with a Pendolino, then a last minute shot just north of Penrith, the final shot was near the old Station at Shap, good to chat with Shep at the last location, thanks for watching.

- Visiting Brighton Terrier 0-6-0T No. 11 and O1 class 0-6-0 No 65 canter downhill with a Sheffield Park bound train of three immaculate Maunsell coaches.
- A Long leisurely look at Q class 0-6-0 30541 climbing up and past Horsted Place crossing.

- Std 5 4-6-0 No. 73156 working hard in the opposite direction.Visiting for the Giants of steam gala.

and is seen again running past Southerham with Mount Caburn rising above it.

The shot I have been waiting years for - Steam in the snow - Q 0-6-0 works a lunchtime 'Golden Arrow' pullman up Freshfield bank in December 2022.
Although shot in 4k (apart from the 1st clip of 6989) I notice YouTube doesn't always play back at that level of quality. If in doubt click on the settings symbol at the bottom of the screen, click on quality and select the highest shown. (It doesn't work when the adverts are playing).
