Castlemaine is a former gold mining town, when gold was discovered in 1850, it was the richest alluvial gold field in the world. Today it is a bustling city with stunning Georgian architecture, an emerging arts culture, antique markets, lovely gardens and much more.
Castlemaine is located 129 kilometres north-west of Melbourne and is 37 kilometres south of Bendigo.

Shepparton (/ˈʃɛpərtən/)[4] (Yortayorta: Kanny-goopna) is a city located on the floodplain of the Goulburn River in northern Victoria, Australia, approximately 181 kilometres (112 mi) north-northeast of Melbourne. As of June 2018 the estimated population of Shepparton, including the adjacent town of Mooroopna, was 51,631.
It began as a sheep station and river crossing in the mid-19th century, before undergoing a major transformation as a railway town. Today it is an agricultural and manufacturing centre, and the centre of the Goulburn Valley irrigation system, one of the largest centres of irrigation in Australia. It is also a major regional service city and the seat of local government and civic administration for the City of Greater Shepparton, which includes the surrounding towns of Tatura, Merrigum, Mooroopna, Murchison, Dookie, Toolamba and Grahamvale.

Kyneton is a lovely historic village on the banks of the Campaspe River in the Macedon Ranges. During the Gold Rush of the 1850's the town was the gateway and supply centre to the Castlemaine and Bendigo goldfields. There are many wonderful blue stone buildings around the town.

It is located 86 kilometres north west of Melbourne and 66 kilometres from Bendigo.
Wander along Piper Street and browse in the antique stores, vintage clothing boutiques, homeware, art and gift stores. There is also a great selection of cafes, country hotels and the Kyneton Museum.
See the talent of local sculptors at the Kyneton's Sculpture Park, then explore the Botanic Gardens and the Community Park which has a wonderful adventure playground.
Wander along the Campaspe River Walk and under the blue stone bridge which was built in 1861.
Take the self-guided Historic Town Walk and marvel at the wonderfully preserved blue stone buildings, schools and churches.
A short drive from Kyneton you can explore the Kyneton Mineral Springs, Trentham Falls and Hanging Rock.

At the Kyneton Mineral Springs Reserve you can picnic under the rotunda and use the old pump free of charge to sample the famed mineral water. There are also toilets, picnic tables a lovely children's playground and a free overnight camping area for fully self contained RV's.
Trentham Falls
Trentham Falls is located in the Coliban River Scenic Reserve, also called Trentham Falls Scenic Reserve and is one of Victoria's longest single drop waterfalls, cascading 32 metres over ancient basalt columns. There is a short 70 metre walk to the lookout, to view this beautiful waterfall.

Hanging Rock, or Mount Diogenes is a rare volcanic formation formed over 6 million years ago. It is located near the townships of Woodend and Mount Macedon in Victoria, Australia. The summit of Hanging Rock is 718 metres above sea level and the views from the top are stunning.
